Average, not rocket science food. Cheap, convenient and not that fast but I guess that’s because it’s made when ordered?! We live not too far away so it’s a good Sunday afternoon snack. I’m sure this place is crazy in the summer.

This place is so excellent! I’ve lived in Monroe my whole life, and I’m a little ashamed that I’ve only just gone here. It’s a great little spot and has that charming small town feel to it. The gals working the registers we SUPER sweet and friendly, which is always a huge plus. This inside is really small with only a few stools(it IS a drive-in, after all!), but there’s seating outside as well as ample parking, so you can get a great view of Lake Zoar. As for the food – excellent. American fast food at its finest. I got the fried mac and cheese bites which were sinfully delicious, and both of my friends got burgers are fries, which were also amazing. Everything was fresh and cooked to perfection. Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable and the portions are largely satisfying. Needless to say, I’ll be back here again. All around perfect experience!

Love this place! Have been here a few times and each time has been great! I come for the veggie burger — it’s definitely one of the best around!

Simple ready to eat easy food. The place is not big but the food packs a bite. If you want real drive up food, burgers, fries, Georgia hots, etc… then you came to the right place. Definitely affordable.

Delicious fries, real shakes, and some amazing onion rings. This place is everything you want in a traditional burger shack. Get the zoar burger. It has everything a burger needs, and nothing more.

Almost every time I drive past this place I stop. Nothing fancy, just burgers and such, but it’s tasty. What more can you ask from a quick bite? The staff is friendly, there is plenty of parking, and there is nothing better than eating a greasy burger and fries while watching the sun set over the lake behind the building…

I love going to the Lake Zoar Drive In. As long as you know what you’re getting into, you should love it too. This is a road side drive in in the woods, with a big menu serving burgers, dogs, and the rest of the food you would expect from such a place. It’s not a Paris Bistro but that’s just what I love about it. My whole family loves the food and I particularly love the Zoar burger. The staff is very friendly and Mike the owner is one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The building is very small(about 6 or 7 stools at a long bar style table) but in the warmer weather there is plenty of seating outside.

Love this place! We go there all year round. Every time we go there, the food is excellent, the staff is most friendly and they never mess up and order. Boyfriend has tried just about everything on the menu and it is all good. Best onion rings out there!

Fast friendly service, the zoar burger is a must if you stop by here. Defiantly recommend this place, haven’t found a better burger in the valley.

This place might look a little bit creepy when you pass it but don’t let that fool you, the food is amazing! The burgers are to die for and it’s super cheap to. The only con is that the dine-in is super tiny so you kind of have to take it with you.

It used to be a lot better, but I think I will stop coming here because my hot dog bun was cold!!! Seriously?!! That’s disgusting! I don’t think I will patronize this establishment anymore! You are over rated and have let that go to your head probably! That’s why you don’t even make an attempt to fix a simple order of hot dog! Goodbye zoar burger!

Went there for lunch today, not a bad place, traditional fast food. Burgers were good, hot dogs, ok. About as good as any other fast food hot dog/burger place. Service was good, just a few tables if you want to eat outside. Worth trying again.

Convinced my wife and kids to take the ½ hour drive from our house for some drive-in burgers and dogs. When we pulled up I was hearing groans and grumbles from all around… the grounds and exterior are not too inviting. I went in alone with a list of the car-load’s orders. The young staff were very friendly and attentive and my order was taken… and produced, very quickly. I returned to very skeptical faces. A few bites of burgers, dogs, onion rings and sweet potato fries later and I was a hero. The rings were some of the best around… the hot dogs were served in fresh rolls and the burgers were all well liked. The sweet potato fried wedges were awesome! Thanks for saving my reputation!

After living in Trumbull for a year and a half I finally made it with the family to LZDI. This Drive-In reminds me of the ones my family used to go to when I was little. As soon as we walked in the door we were warmly greeted. We ordered two cheeseburgers, one hamburger, one Zoar Burger, an order of Family Sized fries, onion rings and two bottles of diet soda. When the food was ready, I noticed that they got everything right, that it was cooked perfectly and carefully put together. Fries were crispy, not greasy and the burgers looked like they came right off the grill at my house. I would make a trip back for the onion rings alone. After a perfect visit I have to give this place 5 stars, these folks deserve it. My eight year old said that we need to come back again. Good call son.

Lake Zoar Drive-In is an out of the way food shack, tucked away on the side of Lake Zoar in Monroe, CT. They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner/late night snacks. Their specialties seem to be burgers, dogs and a 24 flavor, soft ice cream machine. I ordered a Bobby Burger with well done chili fries and a coffee light-no sugar for breakfast. The toppings on my burger: sweet peppers, tomato, onion and lettuce were fresh, tasty and crisp. The meat, although well done, had a nice juicy beefy flavor and went well my crinkle cut chili fries, which is also a well made dish. Coffee, as per usual outside of NYC, was no big deal, but at least they had whole milk, instead of the Half&Half/Cremora crap. Service is friendly and professional. There are only a few stools to go with the sparse counter space. So do not hesitate to carry your food into your car and enjoy noshing while savoring the lake view.
