I love the taco truck! Very fast, fresh, and super yummy. Love the pork burritos and tacos. I went to their store location too, and I’m super impressed by the young ladies at the cashier– who are bilingual– switching from spanish and english. It inspired me to learn spanish again. :).(I know this is common but still I was impressed). This store is slower. But to be fair I did order everything. From tamales, the huge burrito, tacos… I will continue to order more in the future :).

Service was great. Fast and friendly. Free chips and salsa … but the chips were hard as a rock. We bought the pollo fajita. Meat was salty and not good quality. Came with rice and beans which were fine. A quick stop while driving to the mountains.

Wonderful taqueria food. I recommend enchiladas rancheras. I can’t resist the chips and salsa.

The mole was spicy, which is always a win in my book. It was also nice that the enchiladas weren’t drowning in cheese, although lettuce on top was a bit weird. The tamarindo was delicious. My only real complaint was the homemade chips were a bit thick and hard, but the salsa was really good.

First off, their tacos don’t have cheese so that guy that complained about tampered food is wrong. Second, everything I have ever had is delicious. You salt your own chips to your liking, which is the best thing ever. And the short Mexican girl was super nice and friendly!

Not too impressed. Waited 20 minutes for Pollo ala Crema. The chicken was very dry. I’ve had this dish several times at other restaurants, and they all add veggies(usually onions, mushrooms and red bell peppers). This place added carrots… a ton of them. Not a good dish at all. The staff seemed more concerned with closing the place down(6:30pm) and didn’t offer more chips or even water. Disappointing.

Food was great. Service was great. CHIPS were awesome and the prices were just right. I would recommend this to everyone. The food is a bit more«authentic» than other Mexican restaurants that I’ve been to which is a plus.

Okay, first let’s get our terms straight. There’s TWO parts to this review. The store front on Highway 2 and the Truck(which tends to hang around the Chevron on Main Street.) First the store front — not bad. Fresh and authentic but their chips and salsa could be better. The chips are THICK and not salted. Maybe that *is* authentic — I’m not Mexican so what so *I* know? The salsa, mostly tomato and not much spice. I prefer Chili’s or the salsa at Los Potrillos, but again I’m a «Gringo» so what do I know? The food at the store front is good and fresh, but the wait times and service are not the best. There’s a reason for that, but I’ll save that for the end… Now onto the Truck. Mui Magnifico. Really fresh, fast, and they have some NICE hot sauces to add to your food. I did NOT get chips and salsa(I don’t even know if they are in the truck) and I DIDN’T CARE. The food is awesome. Burritos for $ 4. Beat that(the only place I know that does that is on 1st in Seattle and that’s a LONGDRIVE). There’s a sort of shed to eat in next to the Truck. The truck and transfer drivers and the construction people eat here, so that should tell you something. Okay, here’s the deal — the store front is the wife, and the Truck is the husband. That’s the difference between them, otherwise it’s the SAMEFOOD. The husband and his people hustle out the food and it’s hot, fresh, and quick. The wife and the women in the store front, they take their time. Basically you have a choice: if you’re all TYPE A(like me) then hit the Truck. If OTOH you’re more ‘laid back’ then head for the store front. Oh, and those reviews giving one star? Those are BS — nothing tampered here. Like any restaurant both sites have to follow good hygienic practices or their clientelle will get sick and stop coming, and since I’ve been in both places and they don’t lack for business I’m calling BS on the tampered reviews. Best Mexican food in Monroe. Pick a site and go there. =;^)

The real deal! Just moved from Phoenix a couple months ago up to the North Seattle area. Was craving good Mexican for weeks and came across this place and was very surprised and relieved to have done so! I was starting to think they didn’t know what a good taco is up here after trying a few other places around town. Great food, outstanding service, and always a joy to stop in. I drive from Woodinville to Monroe for lunch here once a week. Legit Mexico soda also an essential that they have. Love it!

One of my fave places in Monroe for lunch, I’ve been to the restaurant and also the(more frequently) the truck and love them both! The prices are fantastic, friendly service, and delish food! I prefer the truck, just because it’s close to my work, and stop in probably once a week for a carne asada burrito or a few chorizo tacos! Def worth a stop-in to the sit-down or the truck location!

Based on the high ratings on Unilocal and seemingly low prices, I decided to stop at Tacos El Rey for a quick dinner on my way to backpacking adventures near Skykomish. And I sure wish I hadn’t. I ordered a burrito with pork adobado and my friend got a grilled chicken burrito. The waitress swapped or orders when she delivered the food which would have been fine if the food was actually any good. The burrito had a thin layer of beans and rice, a bit of grilled meat, and a ton of lettuce to fill up the remaining space in the tortilla. Also, the tortilla was smaller sized than most burrito places I have been. The homemade chips were cut from thick flour tortillas and were bland, oily, and tough. The salsa had the slightly acid tinge of the start of fermentation. Also the homemade salsa verde was bland and not very hot and the roasted pepper salsa tasted more like burnt pepper salsa. I’ll not be going back to this one.

There are two types of people in Monroe. Those who have eaten at Tacos El Rey; And those who don’t understand true joy. (I love the truck, but the homemade chips and salsa at the storefront are to-die-for.) Go. Go now. And bring me some on your way back! P. S. Thank you for the quiet TV playing Parks and Rec. and the always-smiling, super sweet young lady at the register. It makes you a cut above the rest.

This place was fantastic. Needed some fast food and was going to go to Taco Bell… drove past his place and decided to give it a shot. Super good food, great prices, and they have liquid spicy avocado sauce! I had a Mexican sandwich and a taco both with carne asada. Food was fresh and you also get chips and salsa. Very happy I stopped by… will be a repeat customer.
