I have never written a review before but after tonight I felt I had to. My boyfriend took me to this applebees for dinner tonight for Valentine’s day. The wait was not bad at all maybe about 10 minutes or so. Our FIRST server was awesome he took our order for drinks immediately and took our order as soon as he brought the drinks. He ended up going on break and our second server was horrible. I ordered a drink didnt get it until maybe 15 – 20 minutes later. The couple that sat behind us came in about 20 minutes after we ordered, got their food first, and everyone catered to them. We FINALLY get our food… and its all reheated. Steak is all dry fries are all stale. Asked for napkins… guess what? Never got them lol needless to say I will NOT be coming back here ever again. The service is horrible!

I came to catch up with a girlfriend of mine and grab a drink and It was the worst. Had to give a one star but I didn’t wanna give any stars at all terrible service his name is Carlos and the host wasn’t attentive and most of all the manager wasn’t and isn’t even helpful didn’t even care at all until I said I want the bill I’m so over Applebee’s being that this is a franchise it’s the worst one in Monrovia! I highly don’t recommend coming here

Good is always great Kudos to the Chef! Service at daytime is not so good I walked in and manager and servers alike are sitting at tables eating food instead of paying attention to paying customers

Came to eat hear last night with my family. It’s a easy place for me & my hubby to meet up after work on Fridays. We usually like coming here because there is something for everyone and our little man is a picky eater. They were a little busy last night not more than normal tho. We had about a 10 min wait not bad at all . We order the food comes out pretty fast but my order was wrong !! It takes like about 5 min. For us to flag our waiter down he come he says no problem your right this is the wrong sandwich so he said all be right back with your order !! Well that was a lie I had to wait 25 min. My family was done eating at that time are table had even been cleared then my order finally came !! Are drinks never got refilled !! The service was horrible !! I won’t be coming back after this !! I ended up taking my food to go and that to another 10 mins to get a box !! I don’t suggest this Applebee’s to anyone poor service !! There mistake and I did even get a sorry the guy seemed bugged I had to ask him after clear are table was my food still coming !! Not cool

I came to Applebees with my 2 friends, one who is in a wheelchair. We sat in the bar area table for happy hour and the bartender was our server. We kept having to ask the manager for service since the bartender was so busy. After we left, there was a car parked in the handicap section. The blue lines right next to the parking. My disabled friend wasn’t able to get into the car. I went back to talk to the manager about it, and he told me there was nothing he could do and that he was really busy. He said he didn’t have a PA system. I asked him if he could turn the music down and ask his servers to ask if anyone had that car and that it was blocking a disabled customer. He dragged his feet about it and I just said forget it. I called the police and they gave that car a ticket. The manager was so unhelpful. The prices are good but the management is really horrible.

This place is the worst place to go for lunch for a large group. If you are in a lunch«hour» you can count that as a two hour lunch. The service is slower for a party of 10 or more. It doesn’t even matter how the food taste in this case. We all came back late to work and it happened more than once. We cannot afford to eat here because of the time

Well, for starters we were greeted by an ugly, rude hostess with too much eye makeup and this«I don’t want to be here» attitude. I wish I could remember that pig’s name. Anyway, the waiter, James, was sloppy, slow, inattentive, and just plain incompetent. Our food took 30 minutes to arrive, we were never refilled on our drinks, the raspberry lemonade tasted like drainpipe water, the sodas were flat, there was NOKETCHUP, just the bottle left empty, and our waiter saw our drinks were low and that we were totally out of ketchup, despite the restaurant not even being that busy that night, and yet he did nothing. The sandwich my sister’s boyfriend got, a BLT, was awful. He said the bacon tasted like bark, and was of the same consistency regarding chewing on it, the cheese tasted awful(I ask rhetorically; who puts cheese on a BLT anyway!?) and they overseasoned his bbq fries to the point where he looked like Roger Rabbit after taking that drink in the Red Car Café scene. The Chicken Caesar Salad tastes like it was left over from the ides of march, so to speak. Makes you want to spit it out and say«Et tu, Brute’!?». Wilted lettuce that’s not even fit to use for compost, drenched in Caesar dressing that tasted like urine, stale hard croutons that are like eating dice, and bland, rubbery chicken. Their cooking is so bad, Somalia would send it back. The staff here generally has a nasty attitude, they are just yakking it up with each other instead of doing their jobs, they are rude, slow, unorganized, and the manager is a dried up hatchet faced hag who is really unpleasant. This place WAS good once, but I think a new owner or a new manager must have taken over and is now ruining this place. We refused to pay, complained to the manager for the awful service, worse food, and just an overall horrible experience. We weren’t going to stand for that! The manager, after ten minutes of negotiations, agreed to comp our meals, and sarcastically apologized, so we left. We are NEVER eating at this location again! We hope it goes under. Now, to be fair, this Applebee’s doesn’t represent ALL Applebees, we have eaten at one in Riverside, CA. that was excellent in terms of food, staff, and overall experience, so there’s no excuse for this place in Monrovia to be so lousy! But, one bad Applebee’s can spoil the barrel, or at least ruin the reputation of all restaurants carrying the chain’s namesake, so corporate should step on this place, and bring it up to par.

When I come to Applebee’s I think decent food and good service and throughout the years that’s what it’s been. BUT today when our food arrived it came with a bug in it … I’m not sure if it was a gnat or a cockroach(Either way I lost my appetite) Made me wonder if the health department regulates them on a regular basis. It’s unlikely I’ll return to find out.

Applebees’s opens their doors to All Veterans on Nov 11th with open hearts and hands to those of us who served in the Military. The food is great and people warm, friendly, courteous. I love it there and plan to go to Applebees’s a lot more in the future. Thank you Applebee’s and keep up the great work and tradition. Very much appreciated by all us Vets!

I got my food to go and got back to the hotel and no silverware, plasticware, napkins, salad dressing. Come on now… seriously!!! Thankfully the hotel has some. Go to Claim Jumpers. Much much better food and the service is A1. Avoid this place. I should have known when the whole place was empty!

I, or we I should say usually love Applebee’s but tonight by far the worst experience I’ve had not only at Applebee’s but in any food establishment. We were greeted by the really nice hostess which was a pleasant start. When we were seated we took sometime to look over the menu, my husband and I have our usuals we get, artichoke dip, ribletts, a burger… but tonight we wanted to try something different so we both went a little off the beaten path. I ordered the salmon and my husband got a ‘not his usual’ burger. The burger was nasty, not as advertised. My vegetables we cold so I asked are already disgruntled waiter EDSON(as he so rudely corrected me earlier in our visit), to trade it out for a salad he said we don’t do even exchanges and it was going to cost us! I said but it was COLD?! He then LITERALLYWALKEDAWAY to another table to help other guests! Who were in no way signaling him?! We asked for the manager(Eric) who did bring out the wilted bland house salad, and gave us another waiter as we requested. BUT, we could see him and EDSON across the restaurant at the bar talking and smiling amongst the other waiters like nothing had happened! How do you treat people like that and your manager not immediately address it?! Goes without saying that I have reached out to corporate! And if and that’s a big IF, I visit another Applebee’s it will not be this location, ever again!!!

Been to a couple Applebee’s before nothing spectacular about them, just good food, good service at a reasonable price. But this location gives the chain a bad name. The place was empty so you’d imagine the service would be on point. yea not here. The waiter was lagging it big time to bring drinks/refills and just going through the motions. they advertised the macaroni and cheese with a piece of bread. don’t expect the bread its not included and will cost you.50 cents if you request wasn’t a pleasant experience and I can genuinely say I won’t go back.

Worst place yet, this used to be a great place with great service and food. I brought my niece here for a steak dinner and Shit, It was horrible… The manager was too pre-occupied talking to other waiters about irrelevant issues, I had to ask my waiter for a refill 3 times to get it once. Appetizers and food came out same time and I had to remind the waiter that I ordered a salad, seriously felt like I was managing the damn place. Bye bye apple bees, you won’t last another year here in Monrovia. If you in corporate are reading this, get your act together and fire up the grill, then rehire your workforce here. Ps even the lights outside were not working…

Went in there 1(out of the many) time, sat there for about 15 min. nobody came to the table. Went to the hostess to get our waiter. Apparently he was too busy just standing by the bar talking to wait on tables. He took forever for everything. Today, ordered food to go. How long was it sitting there? It was cold as if it was never cooked. Ribs were tough and the fries were stale and cold. Applebee’s use to be a good place to go. Now I prefer Chili’s. Which is conveniently in the same parking lot.

Came here on a Monday for Monday night football. There were only about 2 or 3 servers helping about 15 tables. The bartender Philli really took charge to make sure no customers were without their food and drink. You can tell everyone was stressed with how many customers there were and how little coverage they had. She stepped up and made sure everyone got excellent service. Great job!

I was surprised when I looked at the Unilocal reviews after we were seated in the restaurant. Maybe they have worked on their hospitality issues because we had zero problems. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately by the hostess who explained the new menus. The waiter Corey came over promptly and took our drink orders. When he returned, we ordered. I had the Thai Shrimp Salad and my friend had one of the burgers with onion rings. Both dishes arrived within 5 – 10 minutes. The salad was excellent with spicy Thai peanut sauce and about 10 small grilled shrimp which were cooked perfectly. My friend said the burger was excellent as well. We both finished absolutely everything on both of our plates. Very little washing will be needed for them as they were already clean! Corey was great and received a nice tip for his attention to us. If I am in the area again, I’ll be back.

We had the best dinner tonight. My wife ordered the Napa Chicken. It came out of the oven perfectly. The server Mark was wonderful. I had the bourbon steak with onions & potatoes. It was a good value for a 7 oz. steak. We love Applebee’s. When ordering wine, the best deal is the 9 oz. glass.

Common, guys! What’s with all the 1 stars? This is NOT supposed to be fine dining… it’s Applebee’s. I’ve been to this location a few times, it’s not bad. Food is average. I do have a compaint — long island ice tea. Waaay too sweet. Not enough alcohol. Enough said. FOOD — the boneless wings are good. Aptichoke dip — great and a big portion. I do like their 2 for $ 20 deal — includes an appetizer and 2 entrees for only $ 20. Again, portion size is good. They also have the«healthy» options, which I did not get a chance to try yet. Maybe next time. Our server Justin was very nice and checked up on us often. Also, I’d like to add that this place really is a «family» place — they were extremely nice and talkative/interactive with kids. I was impressed! When I’m in the mood for something simple, I’ll come back here. Will definitely skip the long island.

Several years ago, my youngest brother was a major in an Applebee’s commercial; consequently, on our cross-country roadtrip that summer, those small-town and highway junction Applebeeses were rather conspicuous. When you’ve been driving for three hours across northern Utah with a wife, two young kids, and a dog for each of them, that insipid neon red sign was a welcome thing: cheap eats, appropriately hot and greasy vacation food, and hey… It didn’t require you to lower your standards by eating at the equally prevalent Arby’s restaurants sprinkled liberally across this great land. Like my brother’s commercial – featuring him as a small-town football hero– Applebee’s plays well in the sticks… When your alternative dinner options are basically fast food restaurants somewhere between Toledo and Terre Haute, you take refuge sitting in an actual chair that isn’t on a central swivel and permanently affixed to the tile floor like at Wendy’s or McDonalds. There’s a corny charm to a restaurant built around a central island bar, with crazy crap on the walls and several flat screens showing sports that you watch because they’re on TV… Not because they’re your team(or even your sport.) But in Arcadia/Monrovia, this is camp at best. Don’t get me wrong, it’s the same Applebee’s… There’s a display of a carousel horse, a surfboard, a tribute to local fire fighters, and several road signs indoors(in the words of Marge Simpson: «Whatever!») but in the midst of several other lackluster restaurants, it sort of just coexists, hidden in plain sight amidst the boring and the mundane. Still, there are some hidden gems here that I wish they would leverage. At 11:45 today, we were one of three tables. My bride and I both ordered soups and salads– a cup of chicken tortilla soup, and a Shrimp Thai salad for her, the grilled chicken, avocado, and strawberry salad for me. Two year old daughter got a kids burger slider and fries. Our server was awesome– extremely attentive and present. She refilled drinks, brought extra napkins, and was very sweet. The manager checked on our table twice, even asking«Is [the server] doing a nice job?» … Seemed weird, but go with it. They were not bogged down with customers, but it was a nice touch. Both salads were quite tasty, low calorie, and a good sized portion! I’m a carnivore by nature, but I was satisfied with my soup and salad lunch(ok, and a few of my kid’s fries…) there were a LOT of shrimp in the bride’s dish, and I had a nice serving of chicken– slightly over grilled, but it worked with the salad, and probably appealed to the company’s lawyers with regard to cooking poultry. Even my daughter’s burger was juicy and had a soft bun. Fries were kid-greasy, but they’re fries, people, not blanched asparagus… At $ 40(pre-tip) it’s a little steep for a soup n salad lunch, but we had two fountain drinks, a kids meal, and soups on top of $ 10 designer salads… Considering the low number of customers(and having met the bride when she was a server at Marie Callendars) we left her 30%. When you can make someone’s day for three of four bucks, you always should. Applebee’s should really push their healthy, low calorie, and tasty fare for the lunch set. Neighbors Chili’s, Mimi’s, Chipotle, Black Angus… They all have salads that are easily the same price and 1,000+ calories more then the nice meal we enjoyed today. Then again, the McDonalds down the block had a drive thru line pushed out into the street, so there’s no accounting for people’s desire to sacrifice health for convenience, cost, and coronary arterial schlerosis. Murica!
