I’ve never even left a Unilocal review but let’s just say that after my experience here I decided to jump on the bandwagon. Being a Sunday my favorite place for a kabob salad closed early so I decided to come here since everyone is always raving about it. I spent almost $ 11 on a garden salad + chicken and opened a box filled with nothing but chicken shreds — no lettuce and badly cut pieces of onion and tomatoes. So I thought, maybe I ordered incorrectly and the garden salad didn’t have lettuce(dumb thought I know but I was giving them the benefit of the doubt). I looked online and sure enough the garden salad is suppose to contain lettuce. I called the location and the girl that rang me up answered, I told her that what I ordered hardly came with lettuce and she pretty much just stays quiet for a few seconds then laughs and says, «I don’t know what to tell you» with what I’m sure was a smirk on her face. Horrible service, not worth the rate and overall a bad experience. If I was you and consider coming here I’d take a ride a few blocks down the road and try Anis chicken, much smaller location but the service is always good and so is the food. Oh, and their salads come with a side of pita and small amount of hummus. Will never step foot in here again.

First time coming here. I’d never heard of this place before and was brought here by my girlfriend. I really really love Mediterranean food and this place exceeded my expectations! The food is great and the menu has a good variety. However, I do have a bit of an issue. They don’t have lamb. I love lamb kabobs and I expected to have some today but I will admit that the beef and chicken kabobs made up for the absence of the lamb. Over all my experience here was great. The food was amazing and the customer service was a solid 10. I will be coming back for sure and if they get some lamb served here you better believe I’ll be here everyday.

One of my favorite lunch places in Montebello. Clean, healthy and quick. A little pricey for lunch but most places are these days. The wraps are filling. If your hungry get the plate. I’m not into hummus but this place makes a delicious hummus.

My wife and I were NOT satisfied at all. We both ordered the Chicken Kabob Plate. I’m just gonna say that we will NEVER order from here again. The beets tasted like they had been sitting in the container too long; rice was dry; chicken was mediocre. Hummus was ok. The only good thing on my plate was the Garlic sauce. We usually go to the«Mediterranean Terrace«in La Habra. Being that we moved, its further from us. But, we rather drive TEN miles for some great-tasting Chicken Kebab plates than under ONE mile. IJS. I dont recommend this restaurant to anyone. Maybe you guys might make a couple changes here and there. Well, good luck

I had never tried this type of food until my cousin brought me. The chicken is very juicy and cooked fresh. The hummus is not grainy and is very tasty. They have this garlic paste stuff and its great to add to the chicken. I’m not a fan of the salad but I really liked the freshness

Wondered why this location got lower reviews. Im from burbank and have gone to the one on san fernando many times. im surprised this location actually shares the zankou chicken name. Compared to the other locations, prices are ~25% higher, less food, sloppy presentation, much more bland, and how do you not have some items on the menu that are precooked like shawarma at dinner time? If you are coming here to try zankou chicken, prepare to be disappointed.

Food is good. They barley give u any rice but they want to charge you almost 17 dollars per plate. Now that’s a scam.

Love Zankou! If you aren’t liberally applying the garlic spread to everything, you’re doing it wrong.

Call ahead of time for your order. Saves the wait. It’s a bit pricey but, for the past 5 years my family and I always enjoy their food. Huge half chicken plates that are delicious! I love the garlic spread. Overall 5 stars worth.(:

Im a huge fan Zankou Chicken. This one is in a little strip mall. I never had a hard time with parking. I love the chicken tarna wrap with extra garlic sauce and the pickles. This past visit I did get a little sick from the food. Other then that it has always been a good experience.

Disappointed I’m reposing my review bc it was removed somehow. I visited Zankou Chicken in Motebello for the first time to try them out; Everything I ordered was ridiculously salty & lacked proper seasonings. The meat was VERY dry & tasteless. The tabboula was rediculously salty. The falafel wasn’t seasoned properly. The hammos was salty. I was very hungry at the time I placed my order so I did unfortunately eat half the portion, only to end up vomiting soon after. I was so dehydrated from all the sodium in everything including the«taboola» «falafel» Hammous” «chicken kabak“I must have drank over eight full glasses of water. I wasn’t feeling well for the next couple of days. The owner didn’t seem to care or believe me when I kindly brought it to his attention & eventually hung up on me! I will never eat their food again & neither will my family & Friends.

This place is overpriced for the amount of food that you’re given. I shared the chicken lulu kebab wrap and the beef shawarma wrap. The chicken wrap was very tasty and moist. But the portion was very small. Beef was very dry. For $ 7 bucks I would expect it to come with salad or humus but it just came like that. A wrap(filled with a few meager pieces of tomato with turnip and peppers on the side. Not worth it. Glad I came to try it but not coming back.

Quick Tips! 1. Located in a plaza next to a CVS. 2. I can’t think of another positive point to talk about. I am at a loss for words for this restaurant. It seems as if they are trading on Zankou’s good name instead of actually being a Zankou’s restaurant. When we arrived in Zankou, we were really pleased to see that it seemed very clean and well organized. Our order taker was friendly and very nice. Here is where everything took a turn for the worse. Everything here is overpriced, and very obviously so. On the main website for all the restaurants, there is mention of a family meal deal, this family meal deal was very different here costing upwards of $ 29.99 for a whole chicken, two large sides, garlic spread, bag of pitas, and a box of rice. This is opposed to the family meal deal in Pasadena where you get a whole chicken, two large sides, bag of pitas, and garlic spread for $ 18.99. Yes, that’s right a whole $ 11.00 difference between two locations. Now, it would be forgivable(maybe) if the food was just as good as the Pasadena location. We ended up ordering a whole chicken, a large hummus, and a tahini salad. The«large» hummus here is actually two of the small tins put together very unlike the Pasadena location where the hummus has its own dedicated large tin. The tahini salad here uses the tin that the large hummus uses in Pasadena. At almost $ 4.00 though, the tahini salad seemed to be the biggest ripoff as it was tiny, but soaked in sauce. Maybe it was because we arrived at 5:00PM or something, but the chicken was very, very, very obviously sitting in a warmer for a few hours. The skin was not ultra crispy like in the Zankou’s in Pasadena. It was very mushy and felt very fatty despite being served chopped off the spit. The hummus tasted the same as it always does from Zankou, but we were left wondering why they didn’t have a large tin if they advertise a large size. As for service, here is what I observed during our time in the restaurant. They keep their rice out in the open to scoop and the floor around that area is covered with bits of rice. While the service people were nice enough, they did get in a minor argument with a customer who thought that ordering a combo meant that he also got a drink. In general, this was the worst experience that I’ve had with Zankou Chicken. The price, the food, and everything else seemed like it was such a bad value. I will stick with going to the Pasadena location and looking for other options. I hope that you still have the time to try this place out despite my review!

I’ve heard good things about Zankou, and finally got the chance to try this place out… it did not dissapoint!!! Chicken kabob plate and luleh beef plate were really good, and great choices for first timers. They were full of flavor and really juicy. Price is around $ 12 – 14, which might sound pricey, but i think is reasonable considering Mediterranean food and the quality of the meats.

NOPENOPENOPE Started out great, female worker at the register was friendly and attentive when she greeted us and took our orders… However, as she was helping the cook prep the order she came out into the lobby area to change the trash. She took the trash in the back and brought out a new bag to replace it. then she proceeded back behind the counter to, of course, to help prep the rest of the food. ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?! Disgusting. Disgusting. Disgusting. Employees must wash their hands. Employees must wash their hands. Employees must wash their hands. Employees must wash their hands. Employees must wash their hands. No matter what. Unacceptable.

I am a huge Zankou fan and infact drove more than 15 miles to get my fix. The food is good the and the place is clean the problem is [and I will be agreeing with Jon and Berj] the prices are $ 3 than all the other Zankous in the area and the portions are certainly not the largest I have received. I could live with the portion, I had plenty but how do you justify $ 3 above everyone else. I drive around LA and OC so the next time I am near Anaheim or Glendale area, I will visit one of those locations. There are also, other Lebanese restaurants that do a great job, i CANNOTJUSTIFYSPENDING30% MOREATTHISLOCATION. Its not like they are in Beverly Hills or an expensive location like Downtown Disney where you expect to pay a couple extra dollars. I hope they make it. I will not be going back to this location.
