Loulou’s Griddle In the Middle

Amazing! Just. AMAZING.
I don’t have anything bad to say about this place. I ordered the crab cakes, and they came over a salad, and that was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the calamari. HUGE portion of it. The calamari was perfectly breaded and perfectly cooked.
Even my kids’ meals were on point!
Whenever we come back to Monterey, we will definitely come back!
I highly recommend it!

The hubby and I ate here for breakfast with the kiddo on our trip here prior to hitting the aquarium. It was a Friday morning and we had the choice of inside or outside. This place is SMALL. Like maybe the size of a studio apartment small. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the scenery. My biggest complaint was they didn’t have high chairs because apparently they were stolen and I guess just never really decided to replace them. Don’t have a children’s menu without being able to actually accommodate children. My husband wasn’t impressed. He ordered off the ala carte menu and made his own meal. Eggs, bacon and linguica. He didn’t feel as if he got enough linguica for the price he paid. I got the crab cakes eggs and potatoes. There was only one crab cake which I was pretty upset about but it was good nonetheless. The potatoes were good as well. My son had the pancakes and some fruit. I’m pretty sure the waitress was mad my son was throwing pancakes at the birds tho. I understand but… if he were in a high chair he wouldn’t have been able to see those birds.
Okay place, expensive prices and small atmosphere. I wad satisfied with my food but there was a much better place right up the street from the aquarium I wish we had gone to that morning.

I think it takes some guts when a business puts the cooks in front of the customers to see their every move. That’s what you get here. You can see the cooks prepare yours and other customer’s meals.
My wife and I went here for breakfast. I ordered the special which was an omelet with Italian sausage. IT. WAS. EXCELLENT.
My wife ordered the popeye jack omelet with spinach and monterey jack cheese. She really liked the omelet.
It’s a small joint to eat in, and it seems to be a popular place. Don’t let that deter you. The staff will get you seated ASAP. We had no wait for our seating. The staff in general was curteous and on point the whole visit. The food came to us faster than expected.
Next time I may get the GIANT pancakes I saw others order while I was here.

Ate here with my son on a Saturday morning. This place is really busy, being located in a very nice spot and having a teeny weeny place you would imagine the wait time could be long but it was not that bad. We were seated in 25 minutes. Great!
The lady who were sitting people and the other young lady who showed us to our table which was by the counter (great seats coz you could see the cooks in action) were both very friendly and accommodating. The other older woman here… well…ill give her a freaking 0 star if I can. I hope she’s not LouLou coz that will totally suck! She was super nice and chatty with other customers except to me and my son! Wait time was not bad at all. Getting this woman her attention to place your order is another thing. All the customers who were seated after us were able to place their orders ahead of us! They Were given water, told the specials, except us!!! We were ignored the whole 20minutes after we were seated! Hmmm…
This is a tiny place so you can see what’s going on around you. When she finally came and asked for our orders, no smile. Just plain upset with me or something. WTF did I do to you??? When our orders were given to us by the cook himself, I asked if we can have syrup. This «very nice lady» came out of nowhere and handed me the syrup with attitude. «Here’s your syrup!» Take note without looking at me including when she gave us our check and when she asked for our order. Dafuq? I prolly rubbed her the wrong way! I’m sorry if I had to ask the other lady where I can place my order but that’s the only way I can get your attention!
I had to asked other staff for whatever I need because obviously, customer service is «awesome» with the one who seemed to be running the show there!
Food wise, my 9 yo son like his Monterey Jack Omelet (good thing coz it’s him that I wanna make sure was having fun and enjoying). I had the Cinnamon French Toast which I will give 2 stars out of 5. Dry and First FT that I can taste the egg and nothing else. My 14yo’s French toast is so much better than this. Serious talk.
Not coming back which I’m sure they don’t care since they’re getting a lot of business.

In A Nutshell:
–Bookmark this place if you LOVE clam chower in a bread bowl!
–One of the secrets that was shared by one of the wonderful staff was that the top crust edge and the top part of the bread bowl are soaked in butter then crisped. That’s true manna.
–The piping hot clam chowder had the perfect taste. I love that it wasn’t drowning in potatoes and each piece of clam tasted so fresh and chewy.
Overall, I love the vibe and service. If you bring your furry friend (s), the staff is kind enough to bring them some water bowls! Nice.
