Had dinner here again tonight and the brisket is always, always great. Tender and juicy. The service, food and atmosphere is awesome. Hard to believe this is so far north. Try it!

Best hamburger in town! My hubs loves the ribs and the hippy salad. Wish they had more deserts, but the pecan pie is really good!

From Texas on business and I think I know good BBQ when I get it. Martin’s has great BBQ. I have had the brisket which is fall apart tender and the 4 rib baby backs also tender and delicious. I know several«BBQ» places boil the ribs then smoke them for a while to get the flavor, but not Martin’s. The ribs are truly smoked and the texture of the meat and the flavor of the ribs is unmistakeable. Just delicious. I think they have the best potato salad I have ever had with large chunks of potato and kind of a sweet taste. Yum. They have a nice selection of beers both bottle and tap; my favorite is the Great Lakes Brewing Porter(Edmund Fitzgerald… nice). You wait in line and there is only one order taker who handles both food and drink so the wait can get a little long but it is worth it. I paid about $ 15 for the 4 rib baby back plate which included potato salad and french fries. There is a floor expediter who will bring any additional extras you request. i hightly recommend this place.

Where’s the beef? Good location, nice atmosphere, not worth going if you like brisket. They run out early and much of the menu is unavailable. I went to this resturant for the second time in a week. Both times they were out of Brisket. Unbelievable. First time was about 5 pm — they are open for Dinner — and the told us they were out. We left. Was back in Morgantown today and figured I’d give them another shot. Went in about 2PM and passed a guy eating a brisket sandwich — good sign. My family ordered. Wife wanted a brisket sandwich as did I. Cashier said they had brisket even checked after my wife’s order. Said they had it. We paid. $ 36 for 3 for lunch. Manager comes out shortly and says they are about out of brisket — did we want porker something else? They gave us a song and dance about taking a long time to cook brisket. K. But if you feature it and include it in many of your menu items why are you repeatedly running out mid day? Money refunded no issue. Will not go back. This is NOT a speciality shop serving a huge waiting line til it’s all gone but rather a nice resturant in a storefront mall. They need better planners. Let me know how it tastes I won’t ever return.

Ok, I spent A LOT of time in the South growing up. Especially, in Southern North Carolina. When they say that this is REAL Southern BBQ. They couldn’t be more wrong. Their meat is dry. They clearly do not understand how to use a dry rub. Their potato salad is mediocre, and their Cole slaw is. .. well, let’s just say«run don’t walk». The only really Southern thing they have are the Moon Pies they give away. Awsome tee shirts though. Hey, when they first came to Morgantown, I was really excited because there really wasn’t any BBQ in town at the time. I went three times. All I could think of each time was how expensive they were for the quality. Like Myron Mixon says, «BBQ is simple food don’t screw it up.» They have. BBQ is also traditionally poor folk food made from inferior cuts of meat. There us no way lunch should cost 30 bucks for two people when one is a teenage girl who never eats much. In the end, after the third disappointment I decided to take matters into my own hands. I got my own pit and haven’t been back since.

It’s good if your just craving BBQ, not the best by far! The BBQ sauce is too sweet and lacks vinegar.

This BBQ place is just OK. I really have nothing exceptional to say about any of the food. One visit was to the location in Suncrest Town Center. The staff was friendly, I liked the atmosphere, but otherwise, nothing special. My other visit was to the stand they set up inside the football stadium. I got pretty bad food poisoning from there(I know it was from here because it was the only thing I ate all day). Because of this, I’ll never be back. Eat inside the stadium at your own risk.

About the worst BBQ I’ve ever had… this was a disappointment after finding out their other restaurant is in Tennessee. I’ve had Rendezvous and Curly’s and this is no comparison. I got three sliders so I could try all three meats(pork, chicken and brisket), baked beans and slaw… I can’t say anything good about any of it. The meat was dry, bland and had no smoke flavor at all. The only smoke that was in the restaurant was the smoke coming off the whole hog… which was overpowered by the greasy smell of the fryers. The BBQ sauces were not very good and the baked beans were extremely salty. Such a waste of a beautiful place which was a ghost town at 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday night. What a shame.

I’ve been to Martins twice now and I’m really not impressed. The first time I went I had the pulled pork sandwich and potato salad, it was just ok. The pulled pork was a little cold and the sauce they suggest for the sandwich had very little taste. The second time I went I had a brisket sandwich and fries. It took nearly twenty minutes to get the food after I ordered it and it was cold. The fries were chewy and stale, and the brisket was so fatty and cold it was hard to get through just half of it. I doubt very much that I’ll be going here again. I have pretty high expectations for barbecue and Martins just doesn’t cut it.

Cute interior and decent BBQ. I had the redneck brisket taco which was meat and coleslaw on a pancake type cornbread. It was good but not awesome. My biggest gripe about going in January is that they literally smoke the pig inside which made my clothes, jacket and hair smell. I had to wash my clothes immediately and my hair still smelled a few washings later. One bonus is that they have a drive thru window.

We stopped here for a quick dinner while on the road. You go to a counter and order and they call your name when your order is ready. Service was quick. We decided to get the big momma sampler to split. It was all very good. It had ribs which were very good. the Brisket was the best and the pork was decent. It also came with two sides. The sides were a little on the small side for a platter to share. It was a little cold inside, but it was also a cold rainy night. Overall it was pretty decent BBQ. If we stop again I would do just the brisket next time.

This is my second visit to Martins in Morgantown. During this trip, I order the Ribs & Que combo with Green Beans and Baked Beans. Everything was very good. The ribs were big, meaty and flavorful. I ordered them«wet» — that is with sauce. They were a little tough as compared to traditional baby back ribs, but that is not uncommon for spare ribs. The baked beans were a BBQ style and had a lot of flavors including pieces of smoked pork. My favorite was the Que. I ordered the chicken and it was served on a slice of texas toast. I asked for the sauce they recommended as well as something spicy. both sauces were delicious. If you don’t like very spicy, then stay away from the spicy sauce. It will certainly«bite you back». On my previous visit, I tried the«corn bread». It is more like a corn bread pancake and was not what I expected. Granted, it was good, but caught me by surprise. I will definitely return when I am in Morgantown again. During my next trip, I will order the Que combo with pork and chicken and try more sauces. One Tip: grab a menu a read through it if there is a line. If you take the time, they offer helpful hints on how to enjoy BBQ with recommended sauces.

Took me awhile to decide how to rate this place. I thinks it has decent BBQ but you have to know how to order to get the best experience and I am learning, so here are a few pointers. The spare ribs have more meat than the baby back ribs but if you want your ribs to be tender get the baby back ribs because the spare ribs are tougher. If you order the brisket ask for extra sauce on the side because it never seems to have enough sauce. Only been here 2 – 3 times so still have the chicken and pulled pork to try, and I definitely have no hesitations going back.

The one star is basically for the potato salad. The pulled pork was horribly dry, the catfish po’boy had only a tiny piece of fish on it and an odd taste, the fries tasted good but arrived cold, and all the sauces were overly spicy. Overall I was highly disappointed.

Morgantown has needed a BBQ restaurant forever and now we finally have one. The first few weeks of opening they had to work out some kinks but now it seems they have it running smoothly. I have eaten there several times already. Some things have been better than others but for me the Brisket has been the best overall. Getting a good brisket is tough since it is the hardest meat to cook properly. The southern belle sauce they use on it is a perfect match. The smoked bologna sandwich is my favorite sandwich right now followed real close by the pulled pork. Do yourself a favor and give it a try.

Most of us had to wait about an hour for our food. Luckily our party of 8 found a table slowly but surely. I have to say this. People have to realize this is their first not even a week open. They had helpers running around doing what they can to make sure we were comfortable. Our drinks were being refilled no matter where we were. They also kept handing out free samples, and apologizing profusely. I received my food after about an hour(yes that sucked but was expected). I ordered 6 wings w/Alabama sauce. These wings were top 3 in Morgantown easily. They were SUPER tasty and very moist. These wings were by far my favorite out of everything. Next I also ordered the redneck chicken taco. The chicken was moist and good. The skin that i got with it was AMAZING. One complaint for me was that there was a lot of cartilage in it. I personally didn’t mind that much, but I am sure most patrons would. It needed a little more sauce, but overall it was good including the hoe cake. Last yes I ordered 3 meals. F it! i had to wait an hour! mind as well. I ordered the beef brisket platter. The brisket itself was tender, but again it needed more sauce as they only dabbled some on some pieces. The texas toast it was on was good. Next my sides were baked beans. They were sweet and delicious, but a lil mushy still good though. The slaw was my next side which was slaw like nothing special. While we were waiting I mentioned they gave us free food. They gave most of my table pecan pie. I didnt try this as I am meh on deserts/sweets. Next they gave us a tray of fries which were good, and beef stew. The stew was good, but most people would probably think it was WAYWAY over peppered. Each bite was cracked peppered full. One thing that is a bigger negative is when my friend received his beef brisket sandwich it only had about 2 maybe 3 slabs of beef on it. I would expect more then 3… at least 4! come on! its a sandwich for adults! We talked to one of the helpers. She told us that their computer system kept crashing and losing peoples bills. I should of known this as the top of the receipt did not say Martins, but instead it was the logo of the computer manufacture. They ended up giving 2 of my friends $ 15 gift cards for their extreme long wait. So…will I go back even after waiting an hour and stuff wasn’t was saucy as I like? Yes I will. YOu can ask for more sauce or even a sauce sampler. I will go back for pulled pork as they were out tonight. I will also go back for their wings and different sauces. Hopefully they get their computer and organization together. I am sure they will as they have only been open for 5 days.
