I came in and sat down today for lunch. I waited for 25 minutes. No one came to talk to me. No one acknowledged me at all. No one even looked in my direction. I will never go back there again.

This was our go-to place since we live close by and kids like it there. As moms, we’d hang out here when needing a girls night. We’ve given you A LOT of business over the past several years. But after yesterday’s dinner, we’re going to look for a new place. Literally while being seated, the person disappeared on us while clearing off the table. After waiting for over 5 min, my friend offered to wipe down the table and the people there LETHER??? The rest of the night just went down hill. «Can you lower the shade?» «It’s broken.» Or «yeah, we’ll get to it,» and no one does. Waited 15 – 20 min so my husband found the stick thing and lowered the shade ourselves. Poor service. Unacceptable.

After living in South Jersey for 5 years, originally from Chicago. Finding good Mexican Cuisine was like finding a needle in hay stack here in South Jersey. Chicago has an abundance of Spanish Cuisine. Great job, On the Border! You’ve exceeded our taste bud expectations as well as our service satisfaction Fresh food and everything made onsite definitely goes a long way along with great recipes. Awesome job Lynn! We’ll be back!

It could have been that I was really craving margaritas and tacos, but I thought my meal here was great! Service was fabulous(we went late on a weekday, so that was to be expected). I got fajitas and everything was served piping hot — the«small portion» was more than enough to fill me up and the mango margarita was wonderful(and must I mention, HUGE!) The parking lot is kind of a hassle to get through, but that’s my only complaint.

Went to On the Border with a group of six. We were seated within five minutes on a busy Sunday night. The restaurant was clean, and the noise level was decent. The waiter was very nice and reasonably attentive. The tortilla chips were abundant and addictive. The drinks were good, if a bit overpriced. The food was abysmal. Almost everyone at the table wished we could send it back. I had the Mahi tacos with refried beans. After two bites, I wanted to throw it away, but I felt guilty given how much it cost. My girlfriend wasn’t burdened by such guilt. She put it in a box, and threw it away when we got home. We all agreed we would never go back.

I ordered the enchiladas suivas because they looked good on the menu. They turned out to be the worst tasting enchiladas I’ve ever had(they tasted like vomit), and looked and tasted like they’d been pulled out of the freezer. I ate half of one enchilada(there were 3) and am kicking myself for not sending it back. Everything was over-salted and over-processed. Most of us felt ill by the end of the meal from the sheer amounts of salt in the food, and only one out of the six of us enjoyed his meal. Top it off with an extremely long wait for the food. Our waiter was pleasant and did a great job, just wish the food was better. Won’t be going back here ever again.

If you like Mexican than I would highly suggest to coming to On the border. just before Christmas I had come here with my family for dinner and some family friends and we absolutely loved it. The quality of the food is excellent and fresh. And the best thing is that everyday they have daily specials, the day we went was on a Tuesday which was two dollar tacos, I had the carnitas tacos and they were excellent definitely worth the two dollars. I will definitely be back

I usually don’t bother reviewing chain restaurants but this is an exception. Stopped at this place on the road back home. I feel bad giving it 3 stars because the waitstaff was very attentive and nice. If it wasn’t for them, this would be 2 starts. However, our fajitas were pretty much burned and looked like they were haphazardly thrown on the plate then forgotten. See the pictures. Everyone knows that the food rarely looks like the picture, but at least make an effort. The picture was accurate as far as the three shrimp, but the other portions seemed way less. The beef was past well done and not medium rare like the picture. We did not get the sauce in the picture at all. Everything had a charred flavor to it. Oh well.

Always a great time at On The Border! Good food, good drinks, good people at a great price! Last night Alex was our host — a very attentive gentleman studying at VCU. We always have a good time and enjoy ourselves there and he made it very relaxing — can’t wait to get back there!

For a casual family style restaurant, I’m giving it 4 stars. It was far more than I expected for a restaurant chain. The older hostess wasn’t the most friendliest or welcoming person but our waitress Melissa was wonderful! We were very hungry and a little cranky and Melissa was informative but quick to get our orders started. I really wanted to try the famous watermelon margaritas because I heard they had great drinks! But we were going to see a movie right after our late lunch. We ordered the tempura poppers, brisket quesadillas, and the beef empanadas with queso dip to start. Freshly made tortilla chips and salsa came to the table first, they were complimentary and delicious! The brisket quesadillas were very good, flavorful and served with salsa and sour cream. The jalapenos were lightly fried and had a little more kick than normal fried jalapeño poppers which I loved. They came with 3 large jalapenos on a skewer and 2 skewers in the appetizer plate. The beef empanadas were very good. The crust was nice and flaky and light, there were 6pcs I think. Then for dinner we ordered the Ultimate Fajitas Platter filled with perfectly grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and carnitas with onions, peppers and zucchini with a side platter of rice, beans and condiments. The best part of the meal was the freshly made flour tortillas, what a big difference it makes! Melissa refilled our drinks quickly and provided all the doggy bag items. We always order alot so we can take home food for another meal, so I don’t have to cook lol. I would definitely come again. The portions are very generous, the food delicious and service good!

I’ve been to Mount Laurel’s On the Border over 50 times. I used to go to Don Pablo’s but I fell in love with On the Border’s chips and salsa(their chips are nice and salty, and their salsa is a little spicier). When I go, 99% of the time I just sit at the bar and drink beer and eat the chips(I’m a vegetarian, so most Mexican food isn’t for me). The beer specials are pretty good but could be a little better. As for the bartenders, it’s really hit-or-miss. Joann is probably my favorite– she’s friendly, attentive, funny, and I’ve really gotten to know her from visiting frequently while she’s working. I’ve given her $ 20 tips in exchange and I always get excited when I walk in and see Joann at the bar. Katie is also very friendly, and there was another one who I really enjoyed, but he just moved down south. There is a bartender named Nikki though, and if she’s there, I always get the worst service. She barely checks on me/us to see how we’re doing, she seems unfriendly, if she actually comes to refill your chips then she will not refill your salsa, she has taken my beer and refilled it without asking(when I was done and trying to leave), and I’ve had to wait forever to ask her for my check. At least twice, I’ve had to ask other bartenders to bring my check so that I could finally close out and leave. Overall, good appetizers, cold beer, moderate prices, and great service as long as Nikki isn’t your bartender.

A great happy hour spot. Good large frozen, mixed or regular margaritas for $ 4(top it off with a shot of tequila of course) & large Dos Equis or the smaller versions for $ 2 – 3. $ 2 – 5 dollar happy hour app food as well. Empanadas, beef or chicken, are always the best along with stuffed jalapeños if you want to see some fire later on. Awesome staff and bartenders. If you love Mexican food and drinks it’s where you want to go check out for a nice environment and good prices.

I never really cared for On the Border when I lived in Columbus, Ohio. We recently moved to Mount Laurel, New Jersey, and had an old gift card to use. We were on search for a Chili’s and managed to stumble upon On the Boarder beside the one in Mount Laurel. Now it’s my new favorite Tex-Mex restaurant. I give it four stars for their Baja with the fried avocado stuffed with shredded chicken. It is the bomb! I wish they had more entrees with the stuffed avocado. We have been there twice, and the staff is always very pleasant and accomodating. Never have had bad service there out of the two times we visited. Our favorite waitress was our first visit when we had Lynn(sp?). She was very helpful in explaining the selections and also advised use of how we can save money in the future by signing up with our email for their rewards program.

Your basic Americanized Mexican style restaurant, not genuine Mexican, but not bad, if you keep that in mind. We like it. Chips & salsa served right away were good. I like the lunch combo with cup of chicken tortilla soup(delicious) with crispy chicken tacos. Haven’t tried the margaritas or fajitas yet but they look decent. TVs in the bar area(there are booths & tables there, as well) for the sports fan. Outside seating available; good for a nice day but not much of a view on Rt. 73. Probably ok place for Happy Hour. Fun atmosphere. I tried the empanadas recently & they were very heavy/greasy. I would not recommend them.

Stopped here for happy hour with Yvette a couple weeks ago and we were both pretty happy to find they had some pretty sweet deals. Happy hour Monday-Friday, also they have late night happy hour. We were in a hotel walking distance from this location, so we ended up getting a pitcher of margaritas, $ 12, pretty sweet deal, I believe they have $ 3 margaritas too. Yvette likes her drinks strong so we ended up getting a shot of the house tequila(Hornios) which are currently $ 3. They have select appetizers half hour, I tried the nachos, they are a little on the small side, they are priced right at half off $ 4, I would not pay $ 8 for them. There are usually quite a few people here, seems more like a place for coworkers to have a couple drinks and a few couples looking for a cheap date. Food is pretty good, but it’s like higher quality Taco Bell. Will more than likely be back.
