this is my favorite place to go when i want to get a quick drunk on for cheap and with no pretentiousness at all. it’s a townie bar, you’re going to run into mostly muncie natives ranging the 21 to the how is your liver still functioning, muncie’s equivalent to keith richards old. this place is seriously hidden in an alley/parking lot and most of the ball state crowd doesn’t know about it, or is too scared to go there, which is a good thing.

While Center Stage is a big empty room that occasionally has bands, comedy, 20 year high school reunions, etc, the somewhat separate bar in the back is more often open for business. Merely duck around the corner to see if the neon beer lights are on. This is indeed a cousin of Heorot, but expect more domestic beers and full liquor. No swords or skulls, just fast, friendly service. The Back Door Bar(as I call it) lacks the charm of other watering holes on the strip, but is a welcome addition to any pubcrawler’s agenda.
