Good steak, and I had a very nice server. It seems like a good restaurant it is busy every time I go.

I love the Chop House. Great food and a wonderful lunch menu. The only reason that I did not give five stars is the hostess. I chose to come here for Mother’s Day. The hostess taking names at the front was downright rude to me and to the lady in front of me because we did not have reservations. It was as if she enjoyed lecturing us for not thinking to make a reservation and then telling us that our wait time would be an hour and a half. I went ahead and put our name on the wait list, but my husband refused to eat there after this. We left, drove to Monell’s in Germantown and had a seat before the Chop House called my phone to let me know our table was available.

If I had written this review after visiting the first time, they would receive five stars. However, after my visit tonight, they no longer deserve five stars. My waiter was kind, mostly. He was knowledgable about the menu and brought drinks regularly. I should go ahead and say that the food is good, and some may even find it great. However, what made me rethink eating here was the man who brought out our appetizer tonight. He smiled, and set the appetizer down on the table. And then he quickly said to me «That plate isn’t dirty, some of your appetizer just fell on it.» Which would be fine, except for the plate was dirty. It had old, black food crusted to it in addition to some of our appetizer. Gross!

I eat at The Chop House often. I like the bar and the French-fries. The steaks are ok, but the other food is mediocre at best and salads are horrible. They cannot make a decent salad. I had the Santa Fe Chicken Salad(large). I asked for a large because they put salads on a small plate-bowl like thing with no room to cut the lettuce or move the food around and the salad falls off onto the table. But large salads should not be enough food for 3 days of leftovers. On my salad, the tomatoes were frozen and mushy, the chicken was cold, dry and tough. I asked for the dressing on the side and it came in two ramekins overflowing with thick globbly looking stuff. It looked like the dish was thrown together by a 3rd grader. The sheer amount of salad was ridiculous. The more there is doesn’t mean it’s better. Same problem with the big plate – overflowing with no room and I had salad all over the table. If you offer the dish on the menu, make the effort to make it good. Otherwise, why waste the time and money?

Was in the Murfreesboro TN area visiting our son and grand dog. Had to eat so we decided to dine at The Chop House. The greeter was not very welcoming but our waiter Cory provided great customer service. Three out of the four had the pork chops. Everyone who had the pork chops were very satisfied with their order. I decided to try the Lamb Chops and was not impressed, although I ordered them medium they were on the well done side so they were a little on tuff side to eat. We all enjoyed the Salad, Snap Peas and Sweet Potato. For dessert we tried the warm strawberry shortcake and it was delicious. Nice house Pinot Noir. Overall enjoyed a nice evening with family @ the Chop House.

Today, my boyfriend and I dined at one of our favorite establishments in Murfreesboro. The Chop House has been our after-church lunch stop for years, but after today’s visit, we will no longer be patronizing this establishment. After calling ahead to reserve a table, we were ignored for 2 minutes by the hostess. We waited the rest of our wait time. As we turned in our buzzer, we were asked if we could«be done» by 2:00, because this table was reserved at that time. It was 1:15. We were seated elsewhere, and decided we would let it roll off our shoulders; just an overcrowding issue of some sort. However, shortly after receiving our salads, our dinner arrived; much, much earlier than expected by two servers other than our own. Our own server was surprised at the timing. The food was great, yet cold by the time I finished my salad. I wanted to address the manager of the poor service from the beginning of our visit. Having a background in management, I know how hard it is to juggle busy times. I politely explained our concerns to the manager-on-duty, Brittany. She was very rude, and did not allow me to finish before she blamed the poor service on us being too sensitive. «We’re really busy, and we have other 40 – 50 people to serve besides you.» We have never been treated as horribly as we have there; not even at a McDonald’s. I pride myself on supporting local, family-owned businesses, but this establishment needs a load of customer service training. Please dine with caution, as the customer is not as worthy as the employee here.

I ate here for the first time on Sunday. It was terrible. Absolutely terrible. I will never go eat here again. I got the chicken teriyaki and the chicken was very dry. It was bad. Like really bad. The rice underneath has crap all in it, like peppers. It didn’t list on the menu that it would have red and green peppers. It just said rice. It was pretty gross. Then my broccoli was ok, except for the fact it was old because I could see brown spots on it from where it was going bad. We also got the mozzarella cheese wedges and it tasted like something out of a box from the frozen section at the grocery store. It wasn’t good at all. I was very upset with this because of how expensive this restaurant is. I couldn’t believe we paid that amount for food that was disgusting. Freaking Shoney’s or Deny’s is way better than this place. Won’t be back.

This has to be the best value for an upscale restaurant in the Nashville area! Sunday through Thursday they feature specials that are not only very, very good, but also as cheap as $ 10 per person! The Boston scrod is wonderfully fresh, and Bonefish next door would charge twice as much!

Stopped in for lunch on a whim. We were seated quickly and with a big smile. I really loved the vibe I got in this place. The décor is nice and calming and the lights are just low enough that you feel relaxed and welcome. This is how a steak house should feel. Brown sugar bacon deviled eggs seemed a bit gimmicky, and were just okay. I ordered a filet with steamed broccoli, one of my guests ordered a sirloin, one ordered the shrimp bisque and a salad, and one ordered the half rack of ribs. My filet was severely undercooked. When I cut into my filet the server looked at it from across the table(I was sitting furthest from her) and said«Oh, no. I’m so sorry let me take that back.» My first guest’s sirloin was also severely undercooked. My other guest was very happy with his ribs. And the guest who ordered the shrimp bisque was very happy with it. When the manager came back to the table with our steaks in hand and placed them in front of us he asked if they were to our liking to which my guest replied positively and I replied very hesitantly«Well… I guess ‘rare’ is better than the raw steak I was given before…» He instantly said«Ok, great!» and walked away. That was not the response I was hoping for. The server walked up to the table moments later, took one look at me, and one look at the steak and instantly apologized. «I’ll take it back again.» I insisted that she not do so, since I was starving. «I just don’t want to wait to eat any longer.» She walked away and came back minutes later informing me that the steak would not be on the bill. Between my 3 guests, one ordered a cup of soup and a salad, the other 2 ordered off of the 10 dollar menu. I had the only plate at the table that was ordered from the dinner menu and it was more than twice expensive than any of the other guests. The server got it removed from the bill. The manager? A jackass who could care less about my satisfaction. So, even with severely undercooked steaks and a manager that needs to do the world a favor and find a new career path, this place still gets 3 stars. The server was awesome and the prices on the lunch menu and 10 – 12 dollar menu are outstanding. Oh, and I guess it is worth mentioning that the food we did eat was actually really great tasting, too. Update: I decided to give these guys one more try. I ordered the lobster bisque and a «sweet corn tamale cakes» appetizer, and snacked off of everyone else’s plate. They brought bread to the table that is a super heavy and seems to be made in house. I like that they bake their own bread, but I did not like the taste. I normally like fresh baked wheat bread, but something about it seemed off. It seemed to have a heavy wheat flavor but nothing else. Just that one note. The«sweet corn tamale cakes» did not taste like tamale at all. In fact, everyone at the table with me agreed that we felt betrayed by the name/description. This is basically just cornbread topped with southwestern ingredients. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t a tamale… at all. My lobster bisque arrived and, unfortunately for me, they use a heavy filler in this bisque. The filler? It was the bread that was brought to the table earlier. They had clearly, without a doubt, thrown the last day’s bread into a blender then used it in their soup. It completely overpowered any other flavors in the dish. In a word: Horrible.

Right when I entered the door, I knew this restaurant was on par for great steak. I’ve been looking for an amazing Filet Mignon for ages, both for great taste and priced for quality/quantity. And finally that search has ended or at least until I find someone that can top it. I enjoy red meat like the next red, blooded American but finding the best for a decent price is hard to come by. Usually I would have to pay upwards of $ 50 – 75 dollars for a 6oz filet that was prepared by a competent chef not some high schooler. But now, I’ve found a 9oz Filet Mignon for $ 28 dollars that rivals upscale fine dining. Finally, this cow did not die in vain as it was absolutely the best steak for the price I have had to date. Slow roasted, thick and smothered in garlic butter, perfect temperature(medium) and two sides to boot. The salad was lack luster, nothing special along with the baked potato. But I’m not here for vegetables, I’m here for the best cow around. On another note, our server was more than helpful, very fast and efficient even opening the bottle of A1 for my wife. She was great at her job and her service deserves a side bar review. The atmosphere of The Chop House breathes fine dining however(and luckily) it is casual. Pricing for their entrees, appetizers and drinks are reasonable. The main focus is their menu which features only a handful of items(steak of all types, chicken, sandwiches for lunch and seafood) all fitting on one page. When I saw this, I knew they may not have a lot of choices but they are each expertly prepared. Each steak can be topped with different items as well, making the options endless. Do your cow a favor, head to the Chop House and taste what red meat should be like.

I understand that this place is a chain, but dang, it was good! Highly recommended compared to other chain steakhouses like Outback. I ordered the Porterhouse with a side of loaded whole sweet potatoe. Everything was cooked to perfection. Steak was medium rare just like I liked it — crispy sear and soft warm red in the middle. Sweet potatoe was so soft and tasty, especially with the cinnamon butter. Also came with bread to snack on while waiting. Fair pricing, great ambiance, quick service, attentive staff and best of all, true southern hospitality. :) I would come back again. Highly recommended!

The Chop House in Murfreesboro affords the local diner with high quality food at reasonable prices. We eat here often for both lunch and dinner. The lunch menu is the best lunch value in the city with many individual meals price at $ 10 or less. Our visit today was for dinner. As it is a Friday night I called ahead to put our name in as the wait was 45 minutes for our party of 7. This cut 15 minutes off of our wait time as that is the length of our drive. We were seated approximately 25 minutes after we arrived. I ordered the Delmonica Ribeye 16 oz cut which is USDA prime. The price at $ 39 is reasonable considering the high quality of meat. One would pay close to $ 50 at Ruth Chris. The steak was prepared perfectly at medium-rare and met my expectations for flavor. Along with the steak I received a dinner salad and a sweet potato. The salad was nothing special but the sweet potato was prepared to perfect tenderness and was quite flavorful. My wife ordered the salmon and received a sweet potato as well. She enjoyed her meal and was quite satisfied with her fish. The service we received this evening was adequate but did not stand out as special.

I’m just not a fan. Living in Murfreesboro and having frequented many restaurants in Nashville, I see no good reason to eat here other than sheer unwillingness to make the drive coupled with the overwhelming desire to eat an average steak at above average prices. I have no specific food reviews, because it’s all pretty interchangeable. Average, I can do it better at home and they hurt my wallet. No thanks.

OMG! One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. Atmosphere: dark and restful, but I could still read the menu. We were seated to the right of the front door, and it was very quiet. Easy to converse. To the left, it was noisier. We chose the seared Ahi tuna as our appetizer. Yeah, not the best I’ve ever had, but it came out quickly and got our brains back online. It was served atop some couscous. I think the pasta was a bit overdone, but I’m picky. The wasabi was wimpy. I liked the sweet /hot dipping sauce. A Guinness for the hubster. He could not get it served at room temp, but allowed it to warm up as the night wore on. I had a glass of wine. Salads: Crisp greens, and the Parmesan cheese was abundant on my Caesar salad. Creamy baked potato soup was great. Topped with bacon, green onion & cheese. Entrée: Hubby got the prime rib with a loaded baked potato. The star of the evening! I wondered if it had been smoked. We asked the waitress, and she said that it was cooked in a … oh, I forgot. But it is some special technique. The prime rib was very tender, and had taken all night to cook. You can get grated horseradish or horseradish sauce to go with it. Somehow, we still had room for apple crisp, topped with ice cream. We went for a walk in the nearby mall. The restaurant was a bit hard for us to find. It is close to the NW corner of Medical Center Parkway and Thompson Lane. Great service! We had a variety of servers coming to check on us, and a man who I thought might be the manager was circulating to make sure everyone was content.
