J Carter’s Tavern Grill

It’s unfortunate that this place is hidden away in the corner of a shopping center because it’s amazing! I recommend the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap! Its not on the menu anymore, but they can still make it. Best wrap I have ever had!

Love this place food is good, I usually get different items now I’m stuck on the Santa Fe wrap it’s loaded with chicken and is amazing.

This place is a hidden gem! It’s sit in the back of a rather boring shopping center, so you wouldn’t expect to find such great food! Their jalapeño cream cheese rolls (idk the name) are amazing! Their cheese steak is amazing! Their California club pizza is amazing! Honestly anything I’ve ever tried has been good. Great atmosphere as well!

Been there a few times decent prices good food the appetizers are great the wife and I love the egg rolls. Well made drinks and good selection of beers on tap.
Went there yesterday to celebrate my daughters promotion in school.
We all ordered our food everything came out fine except my melty cheese burger that I had ordered no onions on came out smothered with grilled onions. No big deal I called our server over and he said the kitchen had been putting onions on everything. He was very nice said he would handle it.
Sat for 8 – 10 minutes while my family ate. The server brings out my food I’m starving ready to eat. My wife jokes and says that one has way less cheese I noticed it too along with a hunk of grilled onion. I pull the top of my burger off and it’s the same burger from 10 minutes before with the onions scraped off along with the cheese.
Why if they were just scraping off the onions was my burger gone for 10 minutes. I called the server over and asked him if it was the same burger he looked down and said yes. What was my burger doing in back for ten minutes, if your solution is to scrape off the onions don’t keep the burger back there to give me the impression it’s being remade
(scrape off all you want grilled onion is there)
My wife and I are so disappointed they have lost our business
We like the place but if that’s what they do who knows what else they do back there in the kitchen
I sent it back and refused to eat it, I am sure the next guy that ordered that burger got the one I sent back

I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this place as I’m in that area a LOT, but thanks to Unilocal,we discovered J Carter’s Tavern & Grill when we had to stop for dinner in Murrieta because the 15 freeway was closed! And… we loved it.
This place is great. They have a great food menu as well as a great beer list. They have HH every night — $ 1 off your drink and I think something off apps, too. The prices are really affordable and the food we had was DELICIOUS. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and because I’m being healthy (heh) I got a salad instead of fries. The husband ordered his usual, buffalo wings. The wings were a good portion and he loved them. My sandwich was incredible — super tasty, with cole slaw on it. Oh, it also comes with fried onions, but I got it without those. The salad was a delicious start, good sized, lots of stuff and nice lettuce. OH! I forgot about the hot bread out of the oven and sweet butter… SO TASTY!!!
I’m totally going back here again. Great service and great food. RECOMMENDED!

Came here yesterday for lunch while visiting family. I had Bailey as my server and she was GREAT! She was very friendly and super helpful. They have a pretty extensive menu and when I felt overwhelmed, she helped me narrow down to a couple options and hone in on what would be good. I had the croissant club sandwich and it was delicious. The bread was moist and the ingredients were fresh.
Bailey was on top of my drink refills and brought ranch really fast. She wasn’t phased by my small children and was really kind to them. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be back. Hopefully we will have Bailey again!

If you are looking for a killer Cubano, this is the place. I used to live in S. Florida and have eaten more of these than I care to mention. Since moving to California, none has compared to this one, even at Cuban restos!

Okay. This is serious. The BAKED SWEET POTATO!!! Holy Baby Jesus! If you eat nothing else get the damn sweet potato it is buttery cinnamon goodness… I could eat it everyday for the rest of my life and it wouldn’t be enough!

First time in this place and I’ve lived here for 8 years! Don’t think I noticed it before; it’s definitely a hidden gem here in the Temecula/​Murrieta area. Food was excellent and service was great also! Our server was Kyle and he was awesome. I can’t believe I never new about this place. Thank goodness for Unilocal cause that is where I saw this spot and decided to try it out. The wife had the baby back ribs, daughter had the filet mignon and I had the ribeye. We started off with the firecracker shrimp and I must say that all the food was delicious. By the way, the beer selection is amazing. We’ll be back again! Keep up the great work J. Carter’s!

First off let me say this place is definitely a diamond in the ruff. Lived in Temecula my whole life and never knew this place existed because of where it’s located. Which now is totally a well kept secret. From first glance it reminded me of shamrocks. When we got inside and saw how many families were actually eating there I felt more at ease to have my kiddos in there.
–Start off with the hostess. Could be better.
–Didn’t have a long wait and we were there on a Friday night.
— didn’t really know who our waiter was at first and I am almost positive it was because whoever took our drink order was training. Our waiter came and brought the drinks and stayed with us the rest of the night. Great service.
–food: AMAZING! Food came out piping hot. I had the philly and it was delicious. Cheese was a sauce not the processed cheddar you may get from other places. The rolls they bring out before your meal are baked fresh per table and I almost went Paula Dean on the sweet butter. Husband got the pulled pork sandwich and said it was the best pulled pork sandwich he’s had in a long time. My son had the burger and devoured it my daughter got the chicken fingers and they weren’t the processed kind you get from other joints. These you can tell were hand battered (beer battered) and I couldn’t stop stealing pieces. And my kids are very picky. Lots of choices for food and decent prices.
–setting: LOUD! this is the only reason why I am giving 4 stars instead of five. And I’m sure it’s because it was a Friday and the 8 top behind us were really enjoying their happy hour
Even though there were kids there I would rather go with out my kids. It was difficult trying to talk to each other over all the noise. But what should I expect from a «tavern and grill» on a Friday night during happy hour.
Will definitely be going back.

Have been here several times (during the lunch rush as well as for dinner) and each time has been a great experience. It’s also got a weeknight special and it turned out to be such a great place for Prime Rib! Ive also ordered the prime rib sliders and they’re fantastic as well. Would definitely go back!!!
They also have live music at night which makes it a fun date night location as well.

Nice little place. Either poor advertising or the location sorta sucks, or both… I have lived in the area for a long time and had never heard of this place.
Atmosphere — it’s a tavern… so it works.
Service — came in to watch some March Madness, and the bartender turned the music off and put the volume on for the game… that was a plus.
Beer — 27 beers on tap, so if you can’t find one to be happy with, that’s on you.
Food. — watchin b it all come out of the kitchen, it looked good, good portion sizes. I ordered the ahi appetizer, it was good. Ahi was nice, too much cucumber, but I don’t like cucumbers, so one piece is 12 too many.
Later on I had the croissant club… yummy. The fries are great. Homemade, not frozen.
I saw some other post talking about the food being high cal, blah blah blah… it’s a freaking TAVERN. Not a 5 star swanky place… that said, the food is good. The service is on point, the price is comparable to like places. Sure wish I would have seen this place earlier.

Tried this place on a tuesday night for some dinner and had a nice experience. To start off on a good note, wine bottles are half off on tuesdays:)
We had a chicken BBQ Pizza, the Ahi appetizer and the jambalaya. Everything was good but i gotta say the jambalaya was one of the best i have had!
Just wish they stayed open longer, seems like there is enough of a crowd to hold the place till later.

Very disappointed in the size of the fish in the fish and chips order! I have been coming here since they opened and the two pieces of fish that were on my plate were about the size of one piece of the two piece of thefish and chips I had here last time! It was $ 10.90 for this! Very sad… I did post a photo on here

My Boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our 1year Anniversary. The appetizers are amazing and you could make a meal on them alone. We ordered the Wings and Calamari; both were cooked and seasoned PERFECT too.
We also ordered the Tavern Burger and Tri-​Tip sandwich. The fries that come with each order are CRAZY YUMMMY and are addicting! The waitress was cool and very fast with bringing us our beers, appetizers and meal. We’ll definitely be coming back to this establishment!

Great atmosphere. But most of the food is very unhealthy and high in calories and high in saturated fat’s.
So if you want to blow your diet for an evening like my two friends did it’s probably a good place to do it. At least you have fun while you’re doing it :-)
That being said the calamari was excellent and the pepperoni pizza was excellent.

I love J Carters! I cant say how many times I have come here but I always get the same thing, the prime rib sliders. I tried this place and the prime rib sliders soley based on the Unilocal reviews and have been returning ever since. The atmosphere is fun and loud with bands performing pretty much every weekend, or at least every time I’ve ever gone. They have a great selection of beer and great food. I highly recommend checking this place out.

This delicious food restaurant is in a strip mall near the corner of Alta Murrieta and Old Murrieta Road, in the town of Murrieta. It is one block East of the 215 or 3 miles off the 15.
I came to meet another Unilocaler here and catch up. We walked in and was seated immediately.
What attracted to me to this restaurant was the Happy Hour. The happy hour can’t be beat & its everyday FROM 4PM-​7PM… $ 3 of appetizers & $ 1 off alcohol But… the price really doesn’t matter unless the foods not good & boy is it… The fresh hot sweet bread they serve you melts in your mouth and the honey butter that they give you OH MY GAWD!

I ordered the Carter Cooler– Which was tasty and strong. I definitely would order it again.
Everything we had was TOTALLY DELICIOUS! The ingredients are fresh and high quality. The service was top notch (one of the few places left where you are actually greeted by a smiling face at the front door).
Big thank you to our amazing server Sarah that came to make sure we were well taken care of. Customer Service is BIG to me and I totally felt she was a sweetheart!
If you’re out for a cocktail you won’t be disappointed… full bar and many types of beer/wine…if you’re looking for a friendly place with great prices this is the place to visit. You won’t be disappointed!

They have the best fresh baked bread !!
Highly recommend the firecracker shrimp appetizer if you’re trying to eat light
Texas eggrolls are delicious but rich and can be heavy so come prepped to unbutton your jeans lol

After hearing some good things about this place, I finally convinced my wife to have dinner here last Saturday. We walked in around 5 and were immediately greeted by Leana… she was fantastic!
We ordered some drinks since it was happy hour and I believe some spring rolls since we were starving. The rolls were great, especially with the sauce they provide… the drinks, were alright. Personally, I thought the amount of alcohol in my margarita was a bit much. If I wanted a shot, I would just order one… but if you wanna get plowed for about $ 5.50 a drink, this place will do it!
I ordered a Kobe burger and my wife ordered a club pizza… the burger was fantastic and had SO much flavor. The pizza was good too, but could’ve used a bit more sauce. Overall, we both really enjoyed what we got.
The only other complaint came from my wife… not sure if it was where we sat, but it was HOT at our table and throughout other parts of the restaurant. I’m only also saying that because my wife pointed out 2 other women fanning themselves down with their menu… not sure if hot flash, or the alcohol is pumping through their system.
Either way, I’m sure we’ll be back! :)
