Selection was great however the art of the seafood buffet seems to be a challenge to pull off here. Maybe it was a slow night, or just a visit in the off season. Would give it another try during peak season but not if i have to wait in line for it. Recommendations: Oysters Rockefeller, boiled crawfish, gumbo, glazed salmon(amazing!), and soft serve ice cream(ie digestible plastic — no seriously it is, google it).

This was my third time at Captains and everything was delicious as usual. The service was great and the server’s checked in with us many times to clear plates and fill our drinks. We didn’t have an issue with cold food as some of the reviews stated. They did have some fried items listed that instructed us to ask our server to have them made to order to ensure the items are made fresh. It was mostly fried fish, fried oysters, etc but the prime rib was also listed. My husband ordered two slices cooked medium and they came out perfect. We were there during off season so buffet prices were $ 27 and kids are ½ price. They do charge $ 2.99 for drinks with free refills so we chose to drink water. We were also talking to the server about taking my father in law the when he visits this spring but we were concerned about purchasing an entire buffet for him when he eats very little. She told us to be sure to ask for the menu in which he can order from. He can choose an entrée and two sides without having to pay the full buffet price. We are looking forward to going back!

Went here on a weekend visit to Myrtle Beach. There is a great selection of seafood and sides. Everything was warm and fresh and the service was great.

So very good and the best buffet in a town full of buffets. More pricy than the others, but well worth it. Definitely the most full I have ever been leaving a restaurant. Clean and the staff was checking on us constantly. Can’t wait to go back.

We went here for my grandfathers 81st birthday based on a recommendation of someone who has lived in the area for 10 years. Our family loves seafood, so when we hsaw how huge the selection was, we were floored! It was also very clean looking(sometimes with buffets you can feel like yiu’re eating out of a trough — but not here!) Also, the food was fresh! Fried scallops, crab imperial, steamed shrimp, and of course — the crab legs. Our waitress(Nicole) was very attentive, personable, and pleasant. The desserts were great as well — especially the flan and the cheesecake. It was a little bit pricey, but our family can eat a lot, so I would say each of us ate enough to make it worth it. It is also a Thursday evening in non-tourist season, so there wasnt the wait to get in as I have been told by other locals that it can be in the summer time. But the next time we come back, we most certainly will stop by! Great experience!

I had my first ever crab legs at Captain George’s & I finally saw the light. The service was just ok, but the place was crazy busy the entire time we were there, so I am sure their serve staff is run ragged. The food was good, and there was SO much to choose from. It was unlike any buffet I’ve ever been to. If I’m ever around one again, I will be sure to go back.

Quality: ALL of the food was cold. By all, I mean the prime rib, pork, chicken, corn on the cob-everything! Further, everything was extremely bland. We had to pour salt and pepper all over our food to get it down. Salad bar was extremely limited, and we had a non-seafood lover at our table that had very few options to eat. Cost: we received the off season discount, which was still $ 27 per person. NOT worth the quality of food received. See above. On top of that, when the bill came I thought it was strange that it gave the tip options for 15%, 20%, etc. considering the waitress did little else than clear a few plates, and in my experience tipping at buffets is typically lower than the 20%expectation. It created pressure to tip more. I gave two stars rather than one because the staff all appeared kind. In hindsight, I should have asked our waitress to heat our food, it’s just not a question you expect to have to ask for an entire table at a buffet.

Wow… Excellent… Best seafood in Myrtle Beach… Service was excellent as always… They work each table as a group of 3 servers… The lines move fast… The place is clean… The food is fresh & abundant… I especially like the improvements to the desserts over the past 5 years… Great for large parties too!!!

Awful meal. This was our 5th and last visit to Captain Georges. We have given this establishment multiple chances. In fact, the last time we ate there, I wrote a letter to the management team about how terrible our experience was. Their response was simply«next time you come tell a manager and they will get you fresh food.» This time was just as poor as the last. NOTHING is good except the crab legs and they are mediocre at best. If you want poor quality seafood that is heavily fried and full of oil then this is your spot.

Service was great, staff is friendly, and place is clean. We went specifically for the crab legs. It was fresh and delicious. Exactly what we were looking for. I didn’t care for the stuffed clams, tasted very artificial. We didn’t care for the steamed fish nor the dessert either. Overall, my friends/family and I are satisfied. There are a lot of choices. Best seafood buffet in the area and well worth it. I will be going back.

My wife wanted crab legs so we asked a few locals which seafood buffet was the best(there are dozens!) and they said Captain Georges. The building was huge, and when you walk in, there is a long hallway leading to the hostess stationed lined with long wooden benches. It was the length of a bowling lane. This is the waiting area when they are busy in the summer. Crazy! There is no other option but the buffet, so we both dove right in. There were so many options on there I can’t begin to list them. She said the steamed shrimp and crab legs were good. Some of the highlights for me was the prime rib, crab imperial, and fried chicken. There are a lot of non-seafood options. There is a giant table for desserts as well, so everybody will find something they like. One other thing to mention was the place was very clean. The buffet itself as well as the bathrooms. We would go back.

I’m not a fan of buffets, but would absolutely come here again. High quality items and the crab legs are served from a separate steam table with an attendant rather than in a pan of water on the regular buffet. Service was very good — were are here on Thanksgiving and they are handling the crowds well. Fellow patrons are courteous, too, which made our visit that much better.

Reviewing Captain George really has my points of view, both pros and con’s, significantly separated. The separation takes the form of flash versus price and product. Driving into the parking lot, one can not help but be taken back in total awe by the impressive array of lighting adorning this beautiful, window laden, multi peaked building. Water fountains propel a electric blue liquid, similar to Article Ice flavored Gatorade, a few feet above the surface. The walkway leading into the hostess station feels Las Vegas-esque with its long corridor and the continuation of the blueish liquid. Turning left and upon entering the dining area ups the ante with an impressive nautical display of sails and masts hanging above the massive buffet tables. Credit is due here from a fashion, decorative appointment perspective. But as to the food: The King Crab legs were not worth the entire plate size they encapsulated, about one third of the peel and eat shrimp were mushy. The fried scallops and oysters really lacked in flavor but two horse sized feeding trough’s of tartar and cocktail were ready to deaden any, or inject and flavors. Point being, at thirty plus dollars a head– I really didn’t enjoy the flavors of my meal at all. Truth be told, the highlight would be the desserts section as all pies, puddings, cakes and cookies are all made from scratch within the confines of palatial underwhelming dining hall.

Really clean, very well designed, Waiters are on top of their service and food is good. Only reason I’m giving it a four stars, as it overpriced. There is many other places with more delicious food and better prices. Good for people who loves variety of sea food or unlimited crab legs. Also, If you go there make sure you leave some room for desert. They do have choices of sweets.

I absolutely love this place!!! Every time I come here with my family it never ever disappoints. There got the best crab legs, shrimp, and especially the dessert bar. The servers here are always quick and courteous. The prices are a tad steep but that’s to be expected for all you can eat seafood. The gift shop is really cute too. I can’t wait to go back next year!

My partner and myself decided on seafood even tho she can’t stand the smell of it. 1st. parking is no issue. Had plenty of parking. 2nd. was the selection. Fried clams, Mahi mahi, huge crab legs, stuffed mushrooms, oyster rockafellea, it’s all good. They also had some banging pulled pork, ribs, kielbasa and real mac n cheese said my other half. Huge desert section. Fresh fruit, hot cobblers, 6 different cakes and something call flan??? Idk reminded me of a custard but still good. 3rd. Waitstaff was on cue. Never had a drink empty befor it was filled again. Also made sure we had extra napkin and brought us any condiments we needed. Two gentlemen Zack and Alex well mannered and gave us a good run down of the place to help us in our choices. 4. The boat atmosphere was great. 3 boats and all the walls have boat related items. But at no time did it look cluttered. 5. Price may be high for some. 32 $ each. But you get what you pay for. And I did not mind spending $ 77 on dinner for two at such a place. Conclusion: make this a stop on ur way. And make sure u take a peak at the gift shop. I got a glass for 5 bucks where on the beach it runs 9+. A+ my book.

This is one of those touristy restaurants that everyone needs to try once. We are not typically buffet folks, but we were feeling touristy and thought we would give it a try. When we arrived, the line was all the way along the side of the building. Some people were saying that it would take«hours» to get in, but the line went rather quickly…45 mins. Not too bad! The inside is pretty cool… it’s a ship. The set up was a bit chaotic. It would have been better if they could rope it off somehow to keep flowing in one direction. The food was just ok for us. Personally, I REALLY liked a couple of things(Deviled Crab was off the hook and the Scallops were big, sweet, and fresh), but everything else was just ok for me. Not bad mind you, but truly… just ok. Even the Crab legs were«ok»…the shells were a bit flimsy so it made it difficult to crack and some of the meat was dry. They should consider a second ice cream machine. I stood in line with two little ones for 25 minutes just to get a cone of ice cream. Granted, they have a separate line for it, but it was LONG! We were there with a group of 7, including a non seafood eater. Thankfully, there’s a large selection of non seafood items, too. We’re not disappointed that we gave it a try, but for $ 30+ a person I might be hard pressed to go back for only a few food items that I really enjoyed.

After reading a lot of the reviews about many of the seafood buffets at Myrtle Beach, we went to this one and did not expect anything outstanding, we were so wrong! This place is magnificent, the food is excellent and what made the whole experience even better, the service was outstanding!!! Don’t make your decision about going to other buffets based on price, you might pay two or three dollars more here but I promise you it is worth every bit of it. I highly recommend this place to everyone and I will definitely come back. Thank you Roberto for the excellent service!

Alright, for someone who is allergic to crabs and lobsters(and other sea crustaceans), there are PLENTY of options here. And the best part? They’re delicious. It’s very rare that I’m happy with a buffet. Let alone a seafood buffet. But the service is great, the ambiance(feels like we’re inside a boat), and the food is great. Lots of great options to choose from: salad bar, grilled meats, fried seafood, a variety of grilled fish, an amazing steam bar, and a long line for crab legs. They constantly clear your tables and the staff are incredibly friendly!

When a local turns you onto a seafood buffet, you know it’s good. I’ve lived here for almost 20 years and still eat here a couple times a year! This is the first buffet I recommend when friends come into town or anyone else asks, «Where can I eat my body weight in seafood?» I’ve actually eaten so many crab legs in one sitting that I shamelessly woke up with butter on my pillow later the same evening. Alright, maybe there was just a little bit of shame, but dammit, the crab legs are just sitting there; taunting you, daring you, challenging you to eat more! Don’t judge me, you’ll see! If you’ve ever seen the episode of South Park where Cartman gets excited about going to Casa Bonita, that’s pretty much how I get about an excuse to go to Captain George’s. Of course there’s everything from crab legs & shrimp to oysters & clams for the seafood lover. Should you happen to have an odd-ball in your group who doesn’t care for such things, they’ve got them covered too! Chicken, prime rib and an amazing salad bar are just a few of the additional items available. Oh, and then there’s the dessert bar. This is pretty much where one has to wonder, «are they trying to kill me?!» That said, you’ve gotta try the coconut custard… even if you have to cram it in. It will change you! –Neil
