Grouper bytes were very good, spicy. Peach cobbler good. Dragon Sushi roll excellent. Tempura vegetables were excellent. The service was great, very attentive. We are from Louisiana so it is hard to beat our home seafood. Tried the Chocolate Grit pie. It is good if you like a mousse pie. The grit part was good. I should have tried the coconut or pecan grit pie. The menu was excellent, a lot of different angles on recipes.

1. Fresh to def! Fish was so fresh and so delicious. We got the hamachi poke, chirashi bowl, and spicy tuna roll and chicken quesadilla(I know, random). Bomb. For drinks, we got a Mexican and Moscow mule. The Moscow mule was made or it just didn’t taste like most traditional Moscow mules, but it was still worthwhile and enjoyable. 2. Restaurant presentation: The restaurant isn’t so fabulous looking, inside or outside, but quality is bomb dot com. 3. Service was definitely on point. 4. Would for sure, definitely revisit next time I’m the area. Enjoy!!!

The lunch menu was wonderful. The seafood gumbo had large chunks of seafood, fresh veggies, and smooth broth. The waitress took a Lil long to take order and refill drinks. The menu selection looked great. So, four stars it is. I will go back at a different time to test it out.

Arrived at about 6:30 on the first weekend in March. Needless to say it was rocking and I was surprised that we were seated instantly, party of 2. Our sever was mark, and he was very nice. Knew the menu without having to go back and check the daily starch and vegetables etc… Hush puppies were good, the honey butter they served with them was on the money. Starts off great. We had the mr. Fish crab ball appetizer and it was awesome. They didn’t even need the sauce they were served with. If anything, they were maybe a tad salty but this IS the south. My wife got the appetizer sized portion of the shrimp and grits and a bowl of she crab soup. First off, unless you are Paul Bunyan the appetizer sized portion of shrimp and grits is huge. She loved them, enough to say they are the best she’s eaten. That takes a lot for her. The she crab soup was small for a bowl sized portion but was great anyway. Awesome flavor. I had the boom boom shrimp tacos. They were good. Like I told her, they’re fried shrimp on tortillas. It’s not like they can change your life. They were good the portion is two tacos. Also. We ordered a dynamite roll from the sushi menu. There was a mixup and it is currently sitting on my backseat with my wife’s leftovers. It looked great though. Overall we will 100% be back and hopefully get the same server. He was very good, refills before you were on e, no disappearing acts and quick to fix mistakes and apologize.

I was here on business with my boss and before we left for this trip I asked several of my fellow foodie friends that travel to Myrtle Beach where to go for seafood. ALL said Mr Fish was the place to go. One of them is the head chef and owner of a place in Orlando and his word carried a lot of weight with me. We waited until the last minute to make reservations because we were indecisive on what genre of food we wanted and they were very accommodating. We arrived after a busy day at the conference and the parking lot was pretty full which was a good sign. When we walked in you are greeted by the hostess and above her head is one of the special’s boards. To the right was a lobster tank with some nice looking lobsters to choose from. We were taken to a booth in the Bar area and our server came over, introduced herself and let us know about the specials. We were brought some hush puppies with some honey butter. Up until now I would have said that Dixie Crossroads in Titusville, Fl had the best hush puppies but I have to say… These were even better. We had to force ourselves to stop eating them because they were that good. We shared a Grouper Cajun Roll to start and I am a bit of a sushi snob but the presentation was gorgeous and the taste was incredible! I ordered a cup of the Seafood Gumbo and I would have to say that this was good enough to be served in the Big Easy. I have been to New Orleans several times and this competes with the best ones I have had there. My boss ordered the Mr. Fish Stir Fry with Mahi and had the Lisa sauce on the side at the recommendation of our server. The worst thing I could say is that the plating could have been a wee bit tighter but everything was prepared nicely and the flavor combination was SPOTON. The show stopper of our visit was the Shrimp and Grits. As it was being brought to the table by the food runner the sauce was sloshed on the rim. One bite of what was in the bowl and I could have cared less if the whole rime was covered in sauce. This was incredible. The shrimp POPPED when you bit into them and that was a pleasant surprise. If you are expecting a Cajun style sauce, you will be disappointed but if you want something that stands out from the traditional Shrimp and Grits… I assure you that you will love their spin on it… I have spent most of my life in Florida and it takes a lot to impress me when it comes to seafood BUT I plan to make a special trip here with my wife just so she can taste for herself what I have raved about. To be willing to drive over 8 hours one way just to have dinner… ITMUSTBEGOOD! A Florida Foodie

Sad, fried, greasy. The restaurant doesn’t look clean either. We were seated in the back which felt like we were eating in the kitchen instead of a dining room. Btw they were making sushi without waring gloves. Will not be going back

Fried Clams, salad, fries and hush puppies Although strips and not whole clams, they were large and juicy. The house salads was quite fine with a variety of greens but no croutons The fries were. The hush puppies varied a bit from time to time, but fine. Appetizers Crab Rangoon good and plentiful. Boom boom shrimp good and plentiful. We were able to make a meal from just the two appetizers and two salads.

The absolute best seafood I’ve had in a long time. The flavors and seasonings just melt in your mouth. The hush puppies literally make you want to «smack your momma» although I would never do that, I hope you do understand what I mean. Everything I ordered was excellent and the service was exactly the same. Be sure to come with a big appetite!!! Bypass all of the seafood buffets and come straight here. Do not pass go or collect $ 200!!!

I’m very sad to report my 1 star review after seeing so many awesome 5 star reviews. It all started with going almost 10 minutes after being sat before we were acknowledged by our server. Things got better until our food came out. My wife got ½ dozen steamed oysters that looked horrible. She had two legit oysters out of the 6 and those had a ton of small empty oyster shells on them. These ‘groups’ were about the size of a large grapefruit to give you an idea. Her other 4 oysters once opened had meat about the size of a fried clam strip. I had a combo platter with Scallops and Haddock, both blackened. To get scallops on the combo it was $ 5 more so I was anxious to get my plate. I HAD4 scallops! So the scallops were good but the Haddock had been overcooked. I couldn’t say anything to the server since it had been over 10 minutes since his last check in. So not only was this experience horrible but the table beside us had been waiting for fries for one of the guys for 30 minutes. The server comes out and tells them loudly that it’s the kitchens fault and he doesn’t know what their problem is tonight. Perhaps tonight was the perfect recipe for a disaster if they were having kitchen issues and the fact our server couldn’t handle his 4 tables but I will never visit again. If you’ve read this far, I’d highly recommend Sea Captains House 100 times over.

Outstanding food ! Like others said, don’t let the outside look of the restaurant stop you from going there. You’ll taste real fresh seafood and don’t need to break the bank for that. Ask for Alan to wait your table, he is the best.

This place was delicious! The service was great and super friendly. The fried green tomato tower and she crab soup were to die for. So good I ordered a large to go & froze it to take back home with me. Lol!

Let’s start with the fact that I’m not a sea food fan. So you may ask why would I choose a seafood restaurant at which to dine. Well I figured that I would try out what the locals eat since it would be fresh. I looked up on the Internet the best place to get seafood and Mr. Fish came up. We walked in and stood at the hostess stand for a few minutes. There was no one there to help. However my fiancé went to find someone to help us out and we were seated quickly. The waitress was extremely friendly. I got the fried flounder. It was bit on the greasy side. I would have liked it to be a bit more crispy. However, it was delicate and light. It was a ton of food and delicious. They have hush puppies they bring to the table along with a flavored butter. Absolutely delicious. I almost ruined my appetite with those things. In a town that unfortunately doesn’t have many options in the off season, we were delighted to find this one. Highly recommended.

Our server Sheena is wonderful. I wish the food were as wonderful as Sheena. We heard the she crab soup was great so we ordered that and a bowl of clam chowder. Both soups were served lukewarm and goupy. Thick goupy cream, only finished one of them out of dire hunger — our first meal after flying cross country, 2 days and 2 flights. The grouper sandwich was tasty. The broccoli arrived mushy and oversteamed, the second one much better except one big broccoli had dark brown and grey spots on the stem. The crab balls were okay. They have nice draft and beer tasting specials, offer a fish mobile transport, and a seafood shop next door. A lot of fried food on the menu. Sushi was not served until 4PM.

Very good food and service. Chad did a good job of taking care of my family this evening. Bang bang shrimp and she crab soup were both very good. Our sushi rolls were delicious. Geisha, shrimp tempura, and a roll with soft shell crab. Can’t remember the name. Daughter had lobster tail and with grits and broccoli.

Mr Fish is right. It’s all about the fish! The spacious and relaxed atmosphere is a great setting for seafood. I started off with the much hyped Boom Boom Shrimp with sauce on the side. The spicy mayo sauce is perfectly tangy and creamy but the shrimp wasn’t that large. Doughy and slightly overrated but still good. For entrée I got the 3 combo platter with flounder, tilapia, and haddock. Why not go all fish right? All were fresh but tilapia was the best. Flounder was a bit too«fishy.» Overall, the food was fresh and a great value with heaping portions. And as always, service reflected the reputable local southern hospitality.

Great Happy Hour deals at the bar today. $ 5 for several appetizers, $ 2 domestic beers, $ 3 well drinks, $ 5 wine. The fried calamari was incredibly tender and the portion was huge. We also had a spicy crab roll that had some good heat. They also gave us a couple complimentary baskets of their wonderful hush puppies with honey butter to snack on with our beers. My friend had a blackened gripper sandwich that he loved. Service was great and the food came out very fast. Hitting happy hour for a late lunch or early dinner is a good way to skip the dinner crowds and wait times of peak times while getting a good deal.

Went here for a late lunch yesterday. I had the crab grilled cheese and the she-crab soup. The soup was hearty and delicious. Thicker than your typical she-crab soup. The sandwich was pretty yummy too. Huge. I shared half of it with my parents. They ordered the fried and stuffed lobster to split. I didn’t try any of it, because I was too full, but between the two of them they licked the platter clean. We also got a peach cobbler for dessert for our Unilocal check-in!

After hearing a lot of accolades about Mr. Fish, we decided we wanted to give it a try. Full disclosure: I’m not usually a seafood fan, but everybody else in my party is, so I thought I’d give it a try for their benefit. First off, I’ve been told that Mr. Fish used to be a lot smaller and that they’ve expanded quite a bit. It’s definitely a large restaurant, and it has a bit of a «commercial, small-business» feel to it. You can buy coozies and t-shirts and whatnot with their logos and everything, but they still have giant chalkboard walls where they write the day’s specials and whatnot for everybody to see. It has that interesting balance between comfortable-small-town and consumeristic. It’s a clean little building, though. You’ll go right in and see the lobster tank. Wasn’t so fond of that, but that’s pretty normal. They have tables and booths, and I was told they can seat over 80 people. We went when the parking lot was pretty full and hard to find a spot, and we still were seated within 3 minutes. Service was meh. It wasn’t great. Our seater and waitress seemed forcibly friendly, and we regularly ran out of drinks and they weren’t refilled. One person was also served their food about 5 minutes before anyone else was served, so it felt really awkward. Check wasn’t delivered in the most prompt manner — but it wasn’t *too* late either. It was taken care of quickly once it was delivered, though. The food was okay. We did love the complimentary hushpuppies. In fact, I think that was probably my favorite food out of the entire experience. We also ordered Fried Kalamari, and the larger pieces were delicious while the smaller tentacles nobody wanted to touch. One person really loved the sushi they ordered(a California roll) while the other person said that their sushi was good but the garnish was much too overdone and not enough ginger. We made it work, though. I had the Seafood Pasta. It’s basically an alfredo dish with crab, shrimp, and scallops. I asked for the seafood on the side as I wasn’t sure I’d like the taste. While they were happy to do that(and even put some of the alfredo sauce into the seafood bowl!), I wasn’t too fond of the dish itself. The pasta was overcooked, and it literally was swimming in oil and butter. I enjoy a creamier experience, but when you can literally see the bubbles of oil in the pasta sauce, it’s getting at the point where it’s just too much for me. Friends in our party also assured us that the sushi here was fantastic because it was affordable and good during their happy hour. When we went, they didn’t have any happy hour sushi specials. It seems like that’s something they changed when they expanded. It made the sushi a bit more expensive than we were expecting. For three people, though, the total came to $ 65 — which isn’t too horrible for a seafood restaurant. This place falls under what I’d consider Unilocal’s «A-Okay» designation. It wasn’t fantastic, but it wasn’t bad either. We might come back, but it’s not at the top of our list to do so right now.

This was a great casual restaurant. We went during happy hour and got the boom boom shrimp to start the meal which was a great choice. We also ordered a combo platter to split. This came with fried oysters, crab balls and scallops as well as two sides(we chose mashed potatoes and vegetable medley) Everything tasted great and the fried items were cooked perfectly with light batter. Our servers name was Jay and he was very helpful and had a fun personality. Definitely would go back. They also brought out complementary hushpuppies which were great. Side note: Happy hour is only in the lounge near the bar. There are tables and booths available and it was not very loud when we visited. Definitely worth it, $ 5 apps and drinks are discounted as well
