While visiting Mystic in very early October my husband and I dropped into Harp for beer. Very much a local hangout we enjoyed the atmosphere, a traditional English or Scottish pub type place.

Three Old guys sipping beer at the bar. Young Loud bartender flirting with the old guys. We were looking for some decent pup food for happy hour but this was not the place. We asked for the special that was on three signs outside and were told we could not get it until 5. Sign outside indicated 4 – 6. Bartender said no 5 – 9? What the heck? Then they did not have the Sam Octoberfest that was advertised outside. Beers were cold and locals were warm so they get a couple stars for that.

I’ve never been to a Pub in Ireland, but this certainly seems to have the proper vibe. Lots of dark wood, charming atmosphere, cozy seating areas, Guinness at the ready, bangers and mash… As an added bonus, 3 taps devoted to local offerings. I visited early afternoon on a Friday, so not very busy — service was friendly and attentive. Just off the main-drag in the Mystic tourist-area(and just down the street from THAT Pizza shop). Very pleasant spot!

Came in on Monday to watch Monday night football. The place was empty but they had the game on since the hotel called earlier asking if they could play MNF. kitchen was closed but they had their lite fare menu. I had the Shepard’s Pie which is the best Shepard’s pie I’ve ever had.

If you are looking for a nice place to have a real beer pop into the harp and hound! The pub food was spot on and the bartenders were really friendly.

At last a real bar in a fake town, if ever I pub crawl in Mystic, it will begin and end at the harp and how… actual Irish bartenders, including the fantastic Yvonne, are incredibly fun and engaging. Food was high end pub fare, fish and chips were authentic, would recommend for anyone attempting to escape the packed, horseshit, tourist traps that dot the landscape of the mystic area. Real beer, real drinks, real fun, no bullshit.

We had a great time here, met some great people and drank some beverages. What else do you need? This place really reminded me of an actual pub, not an Irish themed American bar. It was small, intimate and the bartenders were friendly and strangers were talking to each other, it was perfect. There was a guy singing that night, his first name was Guido, he was awesome, personable, took requests and was pretty damn good too. A little bit of a fist pump-y element walked in, a rugby team and they were a flash in the pan really because I think they realized this wasn’t that kind of place. At first there were about 4 people in there, but it filled up slightly as the night went on. They had food but we didn’t sample any, just beers. But the bartenders were friendly and the drinks really reasonably priced. We will definitely be back here.

Update… food is great! Perfect bar food! We’ve never eaten here, but it’s a great place for drinks. A bit small, so we avoid it if it’s too busy. The bartender Yvonne is extremely nice and I enjoy their beers they have on tap. We also enjoy their live music.

Good local Irish pub — 8 or 9 beers on tap. Place is clean with a friendly bartender. Crowd seems to be locals.

In town for quick getaway, wife saw the sign and we stopped in. Cute, small and authentic. We swapped dog pics and stories with the bartender, had a long conversation with everyone at the bar. All very nice people, it really ended up being the best part of our trip. We will be back.

Was in Mystic and was looking for a late night spot. Walked in and there was a band to our surprise!!! 2 guys on guitars and a female. They were AWESOME! Would definitely come back again. Chill friendly atmosphere. Cozy and rustic-ish.

The décor is nice and warm. Being an Irish bar we thought the Guinness would be great, however The Guinness was definitely watered down it was very light in color. Won’t be back

Stop in while walking around to grab a beer. My fiancé stated he wished we had a joint like this near home. A couple people came in that the bartender seemed to know. Cute little bar.

Came here for a drink while playing tourist in Mystic. Really cool inside– great places to sit, dark/elegant ambiance without the dismal/depressing environment of most pubs. Bar tender was extremely friendly and offered great service. Draught list isn’t too long but offers some really good choices– you’ll be hard pressed not to find at least one beer you like. This definitely seems like a spot for the locals as opposed to the overly-touristy places only a few feet away, but everyone there was still welcoming even to someone from Philly. I wish I had visited a few hours later in the day so I could’ve given dinner a try here as well. Parking was on the street but I didn’t have too much trouble find a nearby spot. If you’re stuck in traffic on the way here chances are it’s because the drawbridge is up. Once it goes down everything will get moving again pretty quickly.

A review on drinks alone. Love the atmosphere of this bar, you certainly feel like you stepped into Ireland. A stone fireplace, wooden tables, stools, bench seating — it has everything you need for a night out with the crew. Service was great, walked right up to the bar and was served quite quickly. Prices were fair and we loved the casual atmosphere sitting around the table chatting. This bar is definitely on my stop list for future Mystic trips.

After a long day of driving and a trully horiffic lunch, we checked before wandering mystic. This was the first place we passed after finding a spot to park. I’m glad we circled back after a brief walk. Our waitress was super friendly and smiled a lot. We got our menus and made our picks. My husband ordered the Hound Dog(which I’d been considering) so I got fish & chips. I forgot to try his. :’( Mine was light and crispy. Our server brought the ketchup, vinegar, and tartar sauce before I even thought to ask. Bonus points! I was drained from my day, so a lot of mine left with me. I could easily enjoy a night out or meal here again.

Short Story: Good beer selection, good prices. Food is fare. Staff is friendly. Very much a neighborhood pub. I’m there every week. Long Story: I come here just about every week for trivia with my husband and his friends– Always have a GREAT time. The staff is always super friendly. The food is your basic pub fare– so not a whole crowd of options and nothing out-of-this-world, but good enough. Their soups are always very good though. Beer selection is good and prices are reasonable. It’s a small place and is exactly what most people have already said– it’s a basic Irish pub for winding down and meditating on your beer after a long day or week with friends. Once again, the trivia is SO much fun!

Just like everyone says, this is a simple bar for people with simple needs! There are a few tables and booths spread about and a bar with a bunch of stools. It’s not big but it was perfect for us the other night. I came with about 15 people and we took up about 1⁄3 of the space. There were a few other patrons and hopefully we didn’t bother them. The bartenders were super friendly and we enjoyed a few Guinnesses, ciders, and other fall treats. A great stop for people who don’t want to deal with the frills of Stonington, etc.

Authentic but minimalistic. Great atmosphere. You want an Irish Pub, this is it.
