Living in the Nampa area, we come to Cracker Barrel for brunch or dinner every so often. The food has never been spectacular, and the service can be on the slow side. However as a family with young children, Cracker Barrel provides a laid back kid-friendly atmosphere and they have menu choices the whole family can enjoy. Although the service can be slow, the staff has always been friendly. This evening was the same mediocre experience, but one thing was very different. They have reduced their portions by half. Typically the plates are big enough for my husband and I to split, or for each of us to order an entrée and have leftovers for lunch the following day. For around $ 10/plate, I don’t think we will be back anymore. Also, they need to clean their high chairs! The first one the hostess brought for my daughter was clearly dirty. I asked for a rag to clean it, the hostess just brought another high chair, which was also dirty. Thankfully, I had some Clorox wipes in my purse and cleaned it myself. No excuse for that. I’ve never seen this place very busy and cleaning a high chair only takes a couple of minutes.

I am going to give THIS cracker barrel and 3 stars, sad to say. Been to others and by far this one let me down BIGTIME. service was horrible and by the time I got all my food it was cold. Will not go back to this one, would rather drive to Boise.

Pretty decent food, the gravy is bland though and needs some serious seasoning to make it edible. The breakfast is usually pretty good. Our server, Kathy was on point and never let us lack for anything. The retail store associates are amazing and always make sure we get what we came for and even more.

This is the WORST Cracker Barrel we have ever been to! We have never had a good experience but decided to try ONE more time. We waited 30 minutes for them to cook SCRAMBLED eggs! They messed them up and never brought them out. People all around us got served, ate and left. Then my husband ask to speak with the manager and we waited and waited. FINALLY the waitress brought out my husband fried eggs and my bacon. The bacon was burnt! My husband finally got upset and asked AGAIN for the manager, who eventually came out. We didn’t have to pay for our meal… which we didn’t eat. She did end up giving us 2 complimentary meals, but after trying this place so many times I really don’t want to go back.

The food was alright but the service was AMAZING! We came in as a party of 8, we didn’t call ahead to make a reservation so we had to wait a half hour, which was alright. Between Nicholas and Rosie(I think that’s her name, forgot to write it down) kept our group entertained. We were finally seated and given our drinks by Anne, a three star waitress(stars identified in their apron) very very friendly lady. Anne had Courtney, a four star waitress assist her in getting our groups order in. We got our food in about 25 minutes, super quick! The blacken catfish was a little bland and under seasoned, but just a little salt and tartar sauce did the trick. Both Courtney and Anne both came by and made sure our drinks were full and we had all that we needed. They even brought us extra biscuits and cornbread. I was very impressed with this place and the next time I’m in Idaho again I will be coming to the Cracker Barrel. I am planning on calling the manager of this restaurant to ensure they know they have some AMAZING people on their staff.

Coming here finally I can totally understand the hype around Cracker Barrell, especially considering the tastes of the area. The ambiance of the restaurant section was really great with the giant fireplace and it’s very representative of Idaho culture. The food itself though was bland in quality for the price we paid. I’m sure it’s a great place for some families, but for my husband and I the food was just meh. I swear their biscuits are the same as KFC’s, so if that’s what I’m going to get I might as well go there and pay half the price. Honestly the most exciting thing I found was a lovely selection of Woodwick candles in their gift section, which isn’t half bad.

I’m a regular for a reason. The food is always good even when I try something new like tonight. The atmosphere is superb. It’s not overly noisy with a bunch of loud background music. The Christmas music was playing softly in the background to match their Christmas decorations. The service was perfectly timed and very polite. MacKenzie, my wife and I agree that you are the best server that we have ever had. I say that confidently. I have eaten around the world and even though CrackerBarrel is a regular location for us this was no regular visit. You made our night. Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

Every time we have family come visit from out of town we bring them here. Great service. Always clean. The shop is fun but over priced. The food is delicious! Love their breakfast! And everything else.

My first time visiting Idaho. Stopped in here for dinner. Tasted good, my sandwich could of been a little hotter but, it was tasty. I had the prime rib French dip. Loved the coleslaw. Hubby had chicken and dumplings with real mashed potatoes, those were yummy! Gift shop was very cute with lots of cute things! Staff were all friendly.

It was just an OK experience. The food was ok and the pirtions seemed smaller than they usually are. The bathroom was dirty and the experience just left us wanting more.

Generally, I like Cracker Barrells. They’re not bad, not great, but they’re consistent. So going in, I was excited to have it because I hadn’t lately, and I was tired from a long journey on the road. A shift manager seated us. Millo was assigned our table. We never saw him. Well, we did, but he never spoke to us. Seven minutes later the shift manger brought us waters. Patience stepped in to serve us. As her name suggests, the service was okay, if you were prepared to wait for it. At this point, I started to suspect that each server has a single table. I mean, the place wasn’t that full, but really, it seemed like each table had a server. We asked the shift manager for biscuits; she seemed to have forgotten. When the meal came, everything was tasty, but as a previous Unilocaler suggested, the grits were a bit gummy, tasteless even. When I was finished with my meal, I got a refill; yes, I was patient. As we ate, we couldn’t help but notice another server, Alex. She was courteous and always on the move. She did her side work efficiently. I envied her customers. I don’t think any of the other servers had more than one table, but you could feel the life being sucked out of the room. Low drinks. Slow food. Where’s-our-server faces everywhere. And then there’s Alex’s section buzzing along – with multiple tables even. I would have tipped her if I could have. She and the great food were real diamonds in the rough at this place. If you’re Unilocaling in the area, there are other Cracker Barrells nearby. Hopefully, you can get better service there unless this place can get its management to get its country fried steak in gear.

We LOVE Cracker Barrell, but we don’t love this one. The severing size is smaller then other Cracker Barrell locations, 2 in AZ, 3 in UT, and the one in Boise off Cole Rd. Things tend to be a little burnt. They don’t offer you there famous biscuits or corn breads, you have to ask for them, and even then you might not get it served to you. We have been here 3 times hoping it was just bad luck or a new cook, something to explain why the quality difference from all other locations. No words, can’t figure it out. Last night, our server came over 3 times, 1 to ask for our drinks, 2 to order our food, 3 to drop off our check. I wanted to order a soup, she never came back to see if we needed anything else. So disappointed, now we have to drive 23 miles to the Cole Rd location just to get Cracker Barrell, I guess that’s better then driving from where we use to to in CA to AZ, the closest one. I hope management changes the way they do stuff there or better train their cooks.

So, you’ll notice that my initial review for this Cracker Barrel location was a 4⁄5 stars. This updated review is a reflection of one of the worst service experiences I’ve ever had. Only one tops this one… It is about 8pm on a Thursday night, two weeks ago. The dining room is sparsely populated. Myself, my wife and my oldest daughter are getting a late dinner. These were the issues: 1) It took 5 to 10 minutes just to have our drink order taken. 2) Drinks took another 5 minutes to get to the table and weren’t brought by the initial waitress but by another.** 3) Another 5 minutes later a third waitress comes to take our order.** 4) A waitress walks by our table and ignores the empty glass. 5) 10 to 15 minutes later ANOTHER waitress brings us our meal.** At which time my wife looks at me and says, «I’m confused, who is our waitress?» «I have no idea.» I reply. I ask the fourth waitress to bring me some strawberry jam for my biscuits. 6) The first waitress returns and asks if we need anything. I say I’d like a refill, my wife had a full mouth and instead raises her glass… The waitress ignores it. I also ask for my strawberry jelly… Again. **I don’t normally have a problem with multiple people attending a table. Sometimes the attending waitress is too busy to get things out to her tables. This, however, was different. Usually you can assume the first waitress is the one attending… Unless she doesn’t come back and someone else says«I’ll be taking care of you.» Also, there were a total of four tables and three out of those tables had three or less patrons. As a former waiter, I can say that managing four tables is not a difficult feat to accomplish. That situation just had incompetence written all over it. A huge pet peeve of mine is how well the waitress keeps up with mine and my family’s drinks. It is an important thing overlooked and underestimated by many. For me, it is a sure fire way to loose your tip. That, the poor service, and the inability to identify our waitress led to there being no tip left. The dining room was, very obviously, poorly managed. You can always tell how well a restaurant is managed by seeing the quality of their customer service in their down time. You disappointed me, Cracker Barrel. Please do better, next time.

Traveling from Southern California and came by the restaurant right at closing and they were awesome enough to allow us to still pick up our order! We called our order in and said it would be close to closing but we wanted to pick up the food and they still allowed us to get everything. They even allowed my wife and daughter to use the restroom real quick. LOVE Cracker Barrel!

I had a good time here, the place is pretty crowded for Wednesday lunch, I ordered their Wednesday special, the chicken pot pie. It’s good and in the correct portion size for me. It comes with either biscuits or cornbread. The cornbread was a bit dry but it’s still ok. The price is not expensive for the specials they have. Server is nice although, she forgot to bring me water in the end, but it’s understandable because it was pretty busy day at the time. I wouldn’t say this place is the best but it’s worth a quick lunch.

After we were seated, no server came by to check on us or offer water. After waiting 20 minutes, we left. Went over to Wingerz, was seated, provided water and took our order in 5 minutes. They even had less servers.

A GREAT place to have home made tasting food, down home atmosphere. Just like original in Tennessee. Lunch specials are reasonably priced, and better then a fast food drive through. We’ll be back

Arrived Sunday morning about 630 am and had to wait a short while to be seated. Not sure why. I ordered the ham and eggs. The ham was such a small portion. After cutting out the bone, I’d be surprised if it was 3 oz. And it was very tough to cut and chew. The food arrived warm, but not hot. The music was loud. Overall, very disappointing breakfast.

My wife and I ate here today. We asked the waitress(Kristin R.) what she recommends. Keep in mind this is breakfast. She recommended the Pecan Pancakes(for me) and The Old Timer’s Breakfast. They were both fabulous. The pancakes were delicious and the hash brown casserole, bacon and freshly made buttermilk biscuits were out of this world. We have found our new favorite breakfast place… If you have not eaten here run… hurry… fast… before they run out of great delicious food… No, they will not run out of food but it would be worth the run. Kristin was absolutely correct on her recommended favorites and they are now our favorites.
