I’ve been coming to the Nanuet restaurant throughout the years. Hadn’t been here in several months. So I decided to stop by this rainy Wednesday afternoon. Upon coming in thru the front entrance doors. I noticed a payphone. However it was disconnected but there are still two videogames Ms Pac-Man and astroids and one other featuring classic games. Decided to seat myself and The waitress asked if I needed a menu. She was very friendly and told me that Brooke Shields brings her children into the restaurant and Bill Murray, who no longer lives in Rockland comes when he drops in to the county to visit his sons. I decided to order a small pizza with mushrooms and sausage. I started off with a small salad which was tasty with onions and the house dressing. I chatted with Lois the waitress a little more. Then about half an hour after I placed mg order, the Pizza came out. It looked very delicious and I let it cool down a bit before eating the first slice. The sausage is very delicious and a homemade slightly spicy with a very good flavor. The crust was perfectly done and more like a pastry crust the traditional pizza, but crunchy and good. The sauce was flavorful and there wasn’t an over abundance of cheese just the right amount. Along the walls there are pictures of many different celebrities some like Eddie Murphy who has signed this picture because he’s been to the Nanuet restaurant. I talked to Lois after eating my meal and we discussed that there are hardly any mom-and-pop restaurants left in Nanuet just the Rockland bakery and the Nanuet restaurant. I definitely plan to come in and have another tasty pizza perhaps their bacon pizza or just a cheese pizza with garlic. The atmosphere the food and the very good service made my dining experience A real bright spot on this rainy day.

This place looks like it is where dreams go to die and where nightmares go to congregate. It is in desparate need of a face lift and more lighting. It looks like a perfect setting for a David Lynch flick, like blue velvet. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza and it came with a smell. It may have been due to the spiciness of the sausage, but I threw it out bc I didn’t want to get sick. The crust was unique but not enough to go back for another. The place was dingy enough that I was skeptical about the freshness of the ingredients.

Best bacon thin crust pizza in the world. It’s a must have when my family visits otherwise I’m in trouble

I would describe this a fair bar pizza restaurant. Back in the day the pizza was typical bar pie thin it feels like they haven’t followed their old tradition. Maybe I am wrong and have a incorrect memory. If you like a medium dish pizza with a cornbread like crust you will enjoy the Nanuet Restaurant.

Super nice local gem! The staff is friendly and human, they really seem to care about you. The pizza is great, I had fresh tomato and garlic.

We ordered the Sweet Chili wings and the Garbage Pizza. The wings were really great. But, the Garbage Pizza is really garbage, straight trash. It has all these toppings on it and you cannot taste any of them. It was so wierd! I mean meat has a flavor on its own and I couldn’t even taste the meats on the the pizza. NOTTHEBESTPIZZAEVER! My eating companion keeps saying, if you let the pizza cool down you can start to taste the flavors. Really?! NOTTHEBESTPIZZAEVER!(Just for emphasis)

Best pizza ever! This is my ultimate favorite. Every time I visit my grandparents in New York, we order Nanuet Pizza. It has been consistently oozing with deliciousness for as long as I’ve eaten there(nearly 30 years). I still haven’t found anything like it, except for the Nanuet Hotel & Restaurant across the street, since they used to be associated somehow sometime. Love this place– I wish I had the recipe to replicate over on the west coast!

When it’s time for pizza, I have no problem driving up here from the city. The food here has remain uninfluenced by the crazy modern foody culture, and the pizza is the best I have ever had. I always get a large cheese with garlic and I have NEVER been disappointed. Ok, you are not going to be dazzled by the décor, and the service is going to be exactly what you would expect from a Nanuet restaurant, but the pizza is out of this world and just has the most prefect crust ever. I feel sorry for anyone who has not eaten this pizza!

Excellent, When I asked people where to go for the BEST pizza when I moved here this came up came up consistently as a favorite. ITDIDN’T DISAPPOINT. The is pizza is, the toppings are generous and the sauce has just the right amount of spice. Nothing special about the appetizers we ordered, so I’d recommend going for a larger pie instead. PS. We ate too much and walked it off on the way home. The dive bar décor adds to the place, but could be a turn off for some.

This is my mother-in-law’s favorite pizza. It’s a thinner crust and looks like it’s been made in a tart pan. The garlic pizza is a specialty of theirs and the wings are traditional. There are funky old hats hanging above the bar and the walls are covered with photos of old Hollywood celebrities. It’s a family joint — you can order a ton of food and there’s something for everyone.

This will always be a top favorite restaurant of mine. I grew up in NY and my family would go here every weekend. I’m now in NC but when we get a chance to get back there, it’s a definite stop in for us. It’s like you step back in time, colors, décor and the hats that line the wall by the bar have all stayed exactly the same. I always look for Hazel who I was mesmerized with when I was young. Best pizza– hands down! Lots of memories that I will always cherish had here.

One of the best pizza places in Rockland. Pizza takes a long time to get but worth the wait. Especially when cooked well done. Get there early on a weekend. Very crowded.

This place is home to me. I’ve been coming here for 20 years since I was a kid. The people, the service and the food haven’t changed. My husband and I come back all the time even though we now live in the Bronx. You can’t get pizza like this in the Bronx. The pizza is by far the best. It’s not like your traditional pizza. The crust is the key… and their cheese is to die for. Recently my husband and I went for wings and I must say that they are the best wings I’ve ever had in rockland. Crispy and perfectly coated with their spicy buffalo sauce. The staff is friendly and remember us every time we come back. I highly recommend this place to people who like a cozy atmosphere and good pizza with a twist.

This place is a solid tradition in my family, since my wife and I first came here when we were dating many moons ago. I’ll be damned if the look of the place has not changed one bit since then. The pizza is fantastic, and we have been getting their bacon pies since the beginning. To be honest, the other food there is OK but nothing special; it’s the pizza that shines. However the garlic bread is really good. I also like that most of the waiters/waitresses are long-time employees, in fact I think that one of them is the son of an original waitress(Grace). Get a pie, a salad(if you’re so inclined), and a pitcher of beer and you’re set.

Similar to its cousin Nanuet Hotel & Restaurant up the road, Nanuet Restaurant is a bar that specializes in pizza. This is even more apparent here though, as it’s one of the only things on the menu. The outside of the place really looks like hell in my opinion, and the inside continues this theme. The whole ceiling has a foamy red substance coating it, giving the inside a Martian vibe. There is plenty of random stuff around to look at, since the place has been around since 1959 and they apparently don’t throw much out. The waitresses all looked tired and were very direct in an old school way, but they did their jobs well. The place wasn’t packed out, but it was a hell of a lot more full than it looked like from the outside. A lot of elders and a few families in there. The pizza here is a pan style where the crust creeps up the side of the pan like a pie, and has a pie-ish consistency. I’d never had a good version of this pizza before, and I haven’t since, but this pie was actually good! The crust was flaky, soft and crisp at once. The cheese was good quality but applied with a heavy hand. The tomato sauce was very good even though there was so much cheese. The sausage I ordered on half was glued to the slice well, and had a nice porky flavor with little seasoning. The whole thing wasn’t fantastic and I wouldn’t run back to have it again, but it was good! If you like this style of pizza or you’d like to try something out of the ordinary in a strange atmosphere, then come on down!!! You’re the next eater at the Nanuet Restaurant!!!

My rating applies to the pizza only! Now you may read on:-) A best kept secret in rockland county and I would go on to say even in all of NY state for pizza lovers. First off I will say what a lot of other reviewers no dought say about the pizza; its different. Its not your typical thin crust big slice with shredded mozz. cheese… buts its also not what I would call gourmet(like brick oven made with real fresh mozz). I have been loving restaurant pizza ever since I was little and when I hear that people around here have never tried it I scratch my head… then again pizza is one of the few foods that Rockland County does very well. When you order the pizza you have to let it cool for about 4 minutes; DONT eat it right away you’ll ruin it. The staff is awesome… fast, efficient and friendly! Its an old building both inside and out. Feels like walking into an old pizza restaurant from 1970; very local in its energy. Cheap draft beer at the bar… always a nice compliment to great pizza! As far as the rest of the food goes… good; not great. I have been eating there for 20 years and have learned to stick with the pizza!

I wish I could give the Nanuet Restaurant a better rating but it has slipped through the years. I give the wait staff a 5 star rating because they are so bad that they are good! They are the Plan 9 From Outer Space of waitresses. You just sit there and you watch them as they hardly move, never smile and don’t seem to care at all. It is hilarious. We used to say that the food was good so we would come here no matter how bad the waitresses were. The food used to be excellent. The thin crust pizza was incredible. They used to have something called«Pizza Fest» on a Wed night. They’d give you a large cheese pie and all of the salad and garlic bread that you wanted. You’d have to order the bread and salad when the waitress was bringing the first round because, remember, they are horribly slow and they don’t care. You’d also get all of the soda you wanted when you ordered a pitcher. It was $ 15… a bargain. After a while, I started getting sick when I ate the pizza. It tasted more greasy and harder than it used to be. Last time I went there I ordered a small cheese pie and I got this little munchkin pizza that tasted like greasy cardboard. That was about a year ago. I have not wanted to go back since.
