This was my first time back to the Coast Guard House since the renovation after Super Storm Sandy. The food was fresh, the menu offered selections that were creative, and the food was beautifully presented on the plate. The mussels I enjoyed were plump and steamed with a white wine sauce with fresh peppers and saffron. I particularly enjoyed the seafood fritters, which were served with a spicy aioli sauce, which was an excellent complement to the fritters, which were chocked with crab meat, clams, and lobster. The monkfish was perfectly cooked and served on a bed of red rice and baby bok choy. The fish was moist, and not overly cooked, which is how monkfish should be served. I didn’t have a chance to taste my husband’s olive oil lemon cake because he devoured it before I had a chance to think of asking for a bite, so I guess it was pretty good. I enjoyed the ricotta cake, which was a light touch to the standard Italian version. This one had a touch of orange flavor, and it was excellent. I was particularly impressed by the service at this restaurant. Bob, the manager, introduced himself, and he made us feel welcome here. Our server was gracious and attentive. The dining room offers a beautiful view of Narragansett Bay, and this is perhaps the most beautiful location in all of Narragansett. I look forward to the seasonal opening of the outdoor patio because the food is good, the cocktails are creative, and the location offers an outstanding view.

Amazing venue and service. I came here for brunch today with two close friends. First of all, being an avid lover of nature’s beauty — I must say that I was taken aback by this restaurants breathtaking view of the water, waves and the beach. It is perfect and I was already sold on that. I had called in advance to get a table and luckily we sat right by the window. I ordered the frittata with squash, avacado and onions along with the yogurt parfait. My friends got the grilled swordfish, clam chowder and the French toast. We shared through our table and were delighted. Pretty much all our food was great except I felt my yogurt was slightly saltier than I expected. The strawberries were fresh and the granola was perfect. My Frittata was really good. We all really though that the swordfish was one of the best we have had — so well done! Our server was extremely pleasant. The only thing that would make this place even better would be probably expanding their menu variety a little bit more with more egg options! Overall, this place deserves a five star rating because they really do an amazing job and have the best view in town. Hopefully we will be able to return here soon for another brunch!

By far my FAVORITE restaurant/bar in the area. The views cannot be topped. I am from the area and every time I am home I have to visit this place. The atmosphere is classy with the gorgeous bar, yet comfortable with the fire places and beach feel. The service is top notch. The bartenders are so friendly and always seem to remember you. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, the bolognese is my favorite. If you are anywhere close to Narragansett you must try this place out!

We had our late valentines date here. Place was busy but we were seated immediately, which was a surprise for a Saturday evening. My husband had the weekly special which consists of a 3 course meal in which you choose your app and entrée from a list of about 6 each and a dessert. He chose shellfish fritters for app and clam linguine as the entrée. The fritters were perfectly crispy on the outside and doughy inside and the sauce they came with had the perfect heat. I didn’t try the linguine but my husband says it was OK. I ordered the tempura shrimp as an app a half dozen oysters for both of us and the halibut. The shrimp was again great crispy consistency with the shrimp not too chewy or tough. The oysters were as fresh as I’ve ever had. They may have been my favorite app but the halibut took the whole meal out of the park. All in all a great meal and great service. A– grade from us.

I like the bar overlooking the water but will not eat here again. Views are amazing from the indoor dining room. Drinks were good too but food is lacking. Just can’t measure up to the view or the prices charged. Will come back for drinks.

Went for late lunch(2 pm) on a sunny but cool February weekday afternoon. Parking and seating was a breeze. The interior had recently been redone and there are great ocean views. Despite ordering only a chicken sandwich and water the server remained polite and attentive. The food came quickly and was well seasoned and hot. I later ordered coffee which was fine and inexpensive. I’m not sure if there are complementary refills as I was not offered a second cup. The menu is not extensive but offered a little of everything. Desserts descriptions looked good and most if not all are made in house. Parking may be an issue in the warmer tourist months.

Excellent quality. Beautiful views. I would not hesitate to take someone there for either business or special family occasion. But you have the price range wrong. Very wrong. Most items are around $ 20 per plate, more for the more high quality/high end items including the beef and seafood. Still worth a visit.

I hadn’t been to Coast Guard House since the renovation/remodel and was pleasantly surprised to see all the updates and new décor inside. If you haven’t been to or heard of Coast Guard house, it located right on the water in Narragansett, overlooking the beach and ocean. Hard to beat location directly on Ocean Road. It’s on the upscale side(not too fancy but definitely on the nicer side), at least as it pertains to the indoor restaurant. Deck dining and drinking in the summer is super casual. The renovation has a large bar and high tops with water views, and then the rest of the restaurant loops around with similarly beautiful ocean views. We only came to grab a drink and found the drink menu to be enormous. Our waitress recommended a wine and it was great! She also let us try their bread and homemade whipped butter and it was fantastic. Hoping to come back soon and try a full meal here!

Incredible view, phenomenal service and excellent food! I arrived early for my lunch meeting with a customer. I was immediately taken by the view from the parking lot. This place literally sits on the beach a mere feet from the water. The waiter was excellent. He gave us our time but was readily available when we needed him. We were deep in conversation and he would refill our drinks like a ninja. The food was fabulous. I had the chefs special of a swordfish steak over cous cous with a thick tomato sauce. It was really good. The fish was cooked perfectly and the cous cous and sauce were on point! I definitely will return and suggest you stop by as well!

I hadn’t been here before, and hadn’t really heard much about the place. My boyfriend and his father had both been here. I checked out their dinner menu beforehand but still changed my mind a dozen times. Fair amount of gluten friendly and a few vegetarian options, which is awesome. I ended up getting the grilled salmon with a baked potato. The potato was average, but the salmon was pretty amazing. Served with skin on it(which was a first for me) I do actually now believe it helps with the taste. We were seated not near the window, but we kept looking out every change we got as it was very windy and the waves were crazy. Two of our guests got the special which was shrimp and lobster over penne with a white sauce(I think), and someone else got a lobster roll. We all ate our plates. The other three also got soup and I tried the lobster bisque which was amazing(super buttery(I think?) which was awesome) and I think I’ll be disappointed elsewhere. Giving it a 4 because of the food only, but I am tempted to just give it a 3. Wish I could giver a 3.5. Our waitress was nice but took a while to give us desert menus and by the time we got them we didn’t want desert anymore since we’d been there almost 2 hours already. Though they did have some amazing looking options. It was also kind of loud in there, but there was a large party in the corner hooting and hollering most of the time. Bathroom was clean and the aisles/walkways in the restaurants were comfortable to walk in. I’d recommend this place for someone who wants great seafood and to sit inside by the water but it’s kind of far for me to go regularly.

went on 12÷27÷15 for brunch with my family. the view is fantastic and the food was also fantastic. we had a party of 6 and everyone was thrilled with the food. the server was very friendly and experienced. I had the scrambled eggs with lobster in a light lobster cream sauce, wow was awesome and my wife who avoids meat and anything fatty, had the swordfish which she loved. my only complaint would have to be the portion size. I think we all left a little hungry. I am not an experienced brunch person so maybe that’s the way it is. but anyway I would recommend it. price reasonable considering the atmosphere and location

We stopped for lunch and had brunch(Sunday) instead. This is approximately our 3rd or 4th visit. The water views are superior. We were seated(12:30p) immediately WITHOUT(*below) reservation. The place was busy, but no wait line. Our server was prompt and attentive. The specials where explained completely and with confidence. Good job Britney! The wine list here is impressive and at fair prices. I know retail cost and some bargains can be had if you know what your looking at. The food is unfortunately average. And that’s the rub. My companion ordered the Polenta with Egg(2), red sauce, spinach and mascarpone($ 9). I had the Noodle Bowl with pork, scallions, bok choy, mushrooms and a poached egg($ 9.5) The Polenta dish was a good portion and was reported as very good, but not a wow. My Noodle Bowl was also a good portion but bland. I am not sure which mushrooms(2 slices) were used but shiitake would be my flavor choice for this dish and I would increase the quantity. The pork was cutup Canadian bacon(guessing). Again the quantity was fleeting. The poached egg was out of place on this option and lost in the mix. Maybe adding the egg made it a brunch item. With 2 glasses of Newport Chardonnay($ 7.5 per), tax and tip we were out the door for $ 43 and change. The view keeps bringing us back, but the food needs to start improving to match the view. * if the food matched the view, there would be a wait line even in off season. This place has a serious opportunity to kill it every day. Management needs to seize it. I hope they do. Afterthought: On each dining occasion we keep saying average food. The caution is eventually the view may not matter. There you have it. Magoo

Well worth the ride from Westerly where we stayed! Just sitting in the dining room, overlooking the ocean as if we were aboard a cruise ship was fabulous! The service was efficient, responsive, and quite pleasant(and patient!). The menu was extensive enough that all six of us had to take some time deciding! We all enjoyed either their always available clam chowder or the soup of the day, butternut squash soup. Delivered hot and tasty! My seared scallops over arugula and polenta was absolutely delicious! It was a perfect lunch portion and I enjoyed eat tender bite! Everyone enjoyed their seafood dishes and one land lover was thrilled with his burger and fries! Something for everyone. None of us had room for dessert but coffee and hot chocolate were a satisfying end to a delicious meal! We sat and talked for quite a while after our meal with no pressure to leave. Perhaps that’s easier as it was off-season, but we appreciated the graciousness in being able to comfortably linger. The cleanliness of the restaurant continued into the spotless bathrooms! I truly understand why this restaurant is so highly recommended. We look forward to returning.

We were in town to run a race and heard about the Coast Guard House and decided to try it out and very happy we did. It has a spectacular spot looking over the Narragansett Beach and the ocean. Our server was Felicia she was knowledgeable and very good. Our bartender Jim charming as well. We had the New England Clam Chowder, filled with clams and flavorful. Fish and chips — home made chips beer batter fish– delicious! Also got swordfish on arugula we loved that too. Chocolate chipotle cake is wonderful. Our dinner was so good we went back in the morning for brunch. The Polenta with baked eggs spinach, tomatoes and Italian toast! AWESOME!!! Very savory(see pic)

Awesome spot for lunch with views of the water… literally right on the water. You can sit basically on the rocks, inside with a view of the water, or upstairs on the patio(though there’s a different menu). It’s pretty expensive, even for lunch. I had the salmon and it wasn’t anything special. My friends loved their lobster bisque and kale salad with an add-on of lobster, plus the seafood pasta. The cocktails are fantastic! Especially the smoky margarita. Woah.

Great ambiance! Nothing like eating on the beach. Definitely a fish venue. Not too much if you’re not a fish eater. I am not a big fish fan so I had the warm pasta salad and it was very good. Love eating by the beach though!

When oh when are they going to revamp the upstairs kitchen? This place would be killer if they had the same great quality food on the rooftop as they do downstairs. Upstairs — terrible fried clams, store bought guacamole paste, small plastic cup drinks. Downstairs — creative menu, great raw bar, real cocktails in real glassware. Had ½ dozen oysters which were on the small side, 3 of which not shocked properly and still attached. Shell on jumbo shrimp and spicy cocktail sauce were awesome. Short rib potstickers were good, but luke warm temp — would’ve been great hot & crispy. Crab cake was great, not too bready. Almost got the linguine with clams, guy next to me had it — looked amazing. Get the fried egg burger, it’s a staple of mine when here. Great addition of all the Adirondack chairs on the water. Coast Guard house has such potential, they just need more inspiration or cash flow to get there. When that roof top menu/bar is fixed, you’ll be lucky to grab a seat. Good friendly service, still waiting on our bread tho…

I hadn’t been here in years and they have had a make over since hurricane damage. We stopped in for a drink after ‘walking the wall’. The new bar area is very light and elegant with large windows to take in the view. The marble bar top(could use some polishing to keep the stone looking new) is a nice touch and the bartender was very nice and gave a generous pour. We paid for our drinks and stepped outside to sit on the Adirondack chairs set out by the water. What a great place to sit and relax with a beverage! There is even food/beverage service out there. We definitely have to stop by again and spend some more time.

This has always been one of my favorite spots when I come home but the food was really really good this time. Normally the view is all anyone needs. They got nailed by Sandy and had to rebuild but with the new layout it’s so much more open. I’ve got some wonderful memories from my lifeguarding days but looks like Bob has created a place that continues to grow with me. Nice new manager Kevin came by and met my family and our server Felicia was on top of things all evening. Go with a daily special or try the chowder and calamari and thank me later:) good choice of local beers and spirits as well which I think is always a must in small town places. Keep up the good work Bob
