A new favorite when we visit Natchez! The ambiance and staff are so warm and welcoming. Our stay at the Dunlieth was perfect! I can’t imagine staying or eating elsewhere when we visit. The appetizers are delicious(it’s been over a month since we visited so I’m not specifically recalling)… Had a delicious Italian sparking wine, prices were reasonable, and Jessica from Harrisonburg was adorable. Will return!

My husband and I came to Natchez on Orr honeymoon. We had dinner at the Castle and it was delicious! The prices weren’t outrageous and you get a free tour of the house with your dinner. Do yourself a favor and order the lobster mac&cheese and the corn and crawfish bisque. Everything starting with the bread and butter is delicious!

The food was pretty good, but not anything I’ll be dreaming about having again. The location is very nice and picturesque though.

Nice room and OK to good food. Went at 8 pm and was last dinner. Rib eye was fatty. Must buy all sides. Shrimp seemed to be best dishes. Downstairs nice pub to have after dinner drink.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at the dunlieth last night and decided to come here for dinner. We were greeted right when we walked through the door & the manager pulled the seat out for me. It was quiet & romantic. The seats are really comfortable. We were brought bread & water. Then our server greeted us with menus and the specials. We ordered duck eggrolls and bbq shrimp. The duck eggrolls were great especially with the gumbo underneath it. The bbq shrimp are really good but wasn’t a fan of the grit cake. It didn’t absorb the sauce much which is the best part. For entrée I got 6 oz filet with lobster mac n cheese. I got my filet medium rare– FINALLY someone knows how to cook medium rare steak. My steak was perfect on the inside. The mac n cheese has great flavor but it didn’t have enough of a roux texture. It had the texture of a soup. My boyfriend got the ribeye with sweet potatoes which he loved. For dessert, we got cream brûlée, it was really good but should’ve had more heat because it didn’t caramelize enough for the top to break. Still great flavor. The food and service was amazing. I love the ambiance of the whole place. So happy we ate here.

Complimentary tour of Dunleith with lunch at Castle. Charming carriage house with period furnishings. Very tasty seafood gumbo; my comopanion had shrimp bisque which was fabulous. 3-choice veggies: black-eyed peas, greens, and okra: all excellent. Corn bread for table. Wish I was there now. Attentive service.

Mixed reviews for this beautiful venue. Pros include a free tour of the Antebellum home with your dinner receipt. The lobster risotto was transcendent! Every bite was spectacular and when it was gone, our table was sad! The pork loin with Demi glacé was tender, flavorful, and scrumptious! There are many wines by the bottle for reasonable rates. Cons include the marinated crab claws. They were basically Italian seasoned crab jerky. It was very hard to remove the meat from the claw shell. Not good or worth it. The filet was a big disappointment. The cook was accurate but the flavor was definitely lacking. The«legendary» bread pudding was very pudding-y and undercooked. The sauce was good, but the consistency was a let down. All in all, read the reviews and make your choice. You could be pleasantly surprised by some but disappointed by other choices.

So I went today and had the country fried steak. And to be brutally and totally honest it wasn’t my cup of tea. It was hard and wasn’t seasoned. It seemed like it had been overcooked. Also I had the crab cake with the jalapeño remoulade sauce the crab cake was good. The sauce wasn’t great, it had bits of sugar in it which made it extremely sweet. I’ve been here before for lunch and it was great. I don’t know what happen. Hopefully it will get better but I won’t be returning for awhile

Stuck in a torrential downpour on the way back from north Louisiana– pulled into an exxon station and asked where I could get some lunch and hide from the rain. Clerk suggested a plantation half a mile up the road– know what? I’m game! Good: 1. The bread.(anybody else not supposed to be carb-ing… this is bread will make you rethink how important it is to fit thru a door) 2. The Crab Cake on the Spinach Salad!(the jalapeño vinaigrette was interesting and not too hot– the cake very crabby and the salad very fresh) Ambiance– typical carriage house– looks like where the blue haired ladies of the town lunch. Super cute. Less good: The gumbo. I know a good gumbo. I eat it everywhere. I could have stopped at I eat everywhere. This was not good gumbo. This was watered down — feed something to the tourists and pretend it is Cajun cuisine gumbo. not my fave and not good. Price: Little pricy for the food– worth trying as an experience because you do get a tour of the plantation for«free» with receipt from restaurant. Interesting tidbit– this carriage house is part of the original plantation grounds– the house itself has been redone several times. I’d say it’s worth a go once– but I don’t think I’d do it again.

The food is usually on point, but the customer service for breakfast, brunch, and lunch leaves a lot to be desired. The morning and daytime crew should be trained better, but I’m sure tips are better at dinner time with an increase in food price, so you get the better waiters and waitresses at that time. Just pay attention to the bill… we were charged an extra $ 2 per person for coffee service at brunch that supposedly was included per their buffet menu, and were charged $ 2 extra per refill of sweet tea. It took about 10 minutes to get butter and another 10 – 15 minutes to get our check after we were done. We sent an email to their customer service department giving them a chance to apologize or remedy the situation before telling other friends and family about the poor customer service and hidden surcharges, but they failed to respond. I assure you my family won’t be back anytime soon.

We read many good reviews about the food at The Castle before our trip. In fact, I made reservations for dinner before arriving in Natchez. Our dinner was quite delicious. My wife ordered the pork tenderloin and we were impressed by the amount of meat she received — not to mention how superb it tasted. The glaze helped enhance the flavor of the meat. I ordered the ribeye and, for the most part, enjoyed it as well; there was a bit more gristle than I expected and it could have been seasoned a bit more. However, we decided to «share» our sides. Oh man — it was not easy«sharing» the Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Sweet Potatoes — they were both fabulous! As an added bonus, we were able to go for breakfast as well because we stayed at Weymouth Hall B&B. Well, the breakfast was served as a buffet with several great dishes. We both liked the potatoes, the creamy cheese grits and the biscuits. Simply good Southern Breakfast food. Another added bonus was that by eating at The Castle, we were permitted a complimentary tour of Dunleith as well. The next time you are in Natchez and want some great food, put The Castle on your list — for dinner OR breakfast.

BESTINTOWN!!! Outstanding food. Ate twice there 2 days in a row. The bread pudding is to die for – we split an order. We spoke to 2 regular locals who both ordered fried chicken. The sweet potatoes were lucsious shiny chunks. The Godchaux salad was overloaded with capers and overpriced, but shrimp & crabmeat tasted fresh and flavorful. Good service for us. But we witnessed another co-diner who arrived the same time as us, did not get her meal after we were completely finished and paid up; unknown mgt compensation was; it was when a tour group was there and cooks were challenged to serve everyone the pre-ordered meals.

Not bad, but completely uninspired. Feels a lot like like the dining room at a second tier country club.

Bread is great and«chips» were good. But, that’s it. Eggplant appetizer was bland. Menu was wrong and instead of saying that, our waitress simply served us something else. I guess the cook thought we would not notice. Splitting an entre was an extra $ 5. The tea tasted like coffee. Maybe dinner is better, but lunch was less than desirable.

Great service, «ask for James». Seafood was very good. The sweet potato grits was outstanding as was the risotto. The sweet bread served before the meal was also good.

A little pricey, but excellent food. I ordered the salmon and my wife had the pork tenderloin. She ordered hers a little too rare(I overheard the table next to me complaining about the same thing. If you get it, order it at least medium. Best bet would be medium well) and it offered to switch plates with her. Unfortunately she absolutely hates fish. Can’t usually be at the table with it. But I had a hunch. We are from out west and fish is different in the gulf. I got her to try a bite and she loved it. We switched and I ate her blood rare pork while she ate all of my salmon with okra aoli. It was a wonderful meal!

The Castle is likely the nicest restaurant in Natchez and is definitely a place to visit for a special occasion. We visited recently for our 15th anniversary and we had an amazing meal and were highly impressed with the service. During this recent visit we were taken aback by the helpful service. It started with our server Janice who was most interested in making our anniversary a perfect night. She was very attentive and also personable. We also were able to meet the the sous chef for the Castle, Chad Christie, who made a very positive impression on us. Chad came out 2 different times to assist us in ordering Gluten Free items. I have visited many fine restaurants, but never had that kind of attention. It appears that Chad has superior culinary skills and also a clear knowledge of food allergies. Now on to the food. I have to say that I have been to the Castle multiple times in my visits to Natchez and I’ve never had a bad meal. The fillet was the best piece of meat I have had in a while. I get my fair share of steaks here in Austin, but there was something special about this cut of meat and also the associated sauces. We were also really impressed with the red fish which appears to be the way to go if you are wanting seafood. The sides were all good, but we were surprised with the mixed vegetables which are prepared in honey making them really tasty. I would also recommend the Crème Brulee as a dessert. The atmosphere at the Castle is perfect for a date night or a business meeting. The restaurant is quiet, well decorated, and the tables are spaced appropriately for good conversation.

Went to dinner at The Castle, which was originally a carriage house for Dunleith, a historical antebellum house in Natchez. The Castle Restaurant features lunch and dinner on the main floor, the with pub in the basement. It’s called the castle due to it’s castle-like appearance. We started with the Combo Plate(choose any two apps) option and got the Flash Fried Pork with a Romaine Wrap and the Sautéed Jumbo Lump Crabcake, both of which were really amazing. The crabcake had big lumps of crab, so it didn’t fall apart when you’re eating it like some. The pork was just the right amount of sweet and savory, with the lettuce giving it a freshness. I had the Sautéed Shrimp with Sun Dried Tomatoes, Wild Mushrooms, Pancetta and Roasted Shallots, Tossed with Penne Pasta in a Housemade Garlic Cream Sauce and it was good. I really don’t like when they leave the tails on the shrimp, but presentation can be more important than the eating experience I guess. The other entrée options also looked delicious, definitely would want to try the meat and fish options. They also have a Molten Chocolate cake that you need to order in advance since they bake them to order. Free parking, nice ambiance and friendly attentive service. Business casual attire requested, but that didn’t stop some guys from coming in with baseball caps. Great spot!

This is by far the best breakfast buffet for the money! We’ve been several times with consistent results. It is not a cheap meal, but it is not cheap food. The grits are hands down the best, THE best, end of story! I even asked for the recipe :) Fresh pancakes to order come with the buffet as well… A real treat when visiting Natchez!

I’ve only eaten breakfast here, but it was wonderful. I could not get enough of the regular and cheese grits. Bacon, sausage, potatoes, eggs– all great! The only thing I didn’t like was the white gravy. It had onions and ham bites in it which made it taste different than the classic white gravy I’m used to in the Midwest. The atmosphere is beautiful and classy too, but you don’t need to dress up for breakfast. A must try!
