Cigar smoking? Really? How on earth can anything taste good while smelling cigar smoke?
Waiter was sympathetic but nothing to be done. Burger «just ok», nothing special, price ok, but will not be back

Gave this place a second try, location is great on the water so nice to sit outside and listen to live music. The service at this place just doesn’t do it right. They need training plain and simple. Customers are your priority not socializing with your coworkers behind the bar. There were 4 bartenders and I was there early 5:00, wasn’t even busy yet. I was drinking soda/​tea and was tipping. Was almost impossible to get anyone’s attentionHad the lobster roll was delicious. This place has so much potential, could use a few healthier choices on the menu. But until they do an overhaul of their waitstaff, train them and make service a priority they will continue to spiral down.

Great sunset views right on the marina. Went on a Saturday, and it was obvious they were overwhelmed with the amount of people that were there. But to General Manager Roseann: s credit she jumped right in and started waiting on tables including ours. The New England clam chowder was tasty and came out very warm. We also had The appetizer portion of Scallops and they came out prepared perfectly with enough drizzle to make it delicious. I hope they hire some more servers especially on weekend. recommended especially for the view.

Very disappointed in our experience at Sunsets Riverfront Restaurant last night. The bar was hopping and the band was good. We got there a little before 830 and were seated for dinner right away. The bar was packed but very few people were seated for dinner. Although there weren’t many tables seated it took about 15 minutes to get someone to take our drink order. Then it took at least another 15 minutes to get our dinner order in. My husband ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was supposed to be breaded chicken and it was not. Looked like they took a grilled cutlet and poured some hot sauce in it. The roll was stale and he didn’t eat it. I ordered the fried cod sandwich and that was supposed to be served with lettuce and tomato with house made tarter sauce. It was served with a lettuce leaf on another stale bun. No tomato. No tarter sauce. The fries were good and they were served hot. If you want a good meal with a water view I don’t recommend going here. If you want drinks with a view than this may work.

What a dump. 6 – 8 people at the bar outside. Bartender walks to front of building to talk on cell. That’s ok only about 4 empty glasses on the bar but cell more important. Restaurant was a disaster. TP in ladies room was sitting on the floor Yuk! Wanted to drink inside to get away from cigs. Place looked like it was still closed for winter. Hostess said to sit outside although she and two others were sitting there drinking. Would not go back if it was free drinks

Quaint restaurant right on the water. Perfect for outdoor dining in the summer time. The food is okay. Had the peel & eat shrimp and fried clams. There was a live band playing on the Saturday I went. Set a nice atmosphere while eating. My only gripe with this place and it is my biggest pet peeve. Is the service, I am not sure if they are understaffed or it was just the person that I had. But we had to flag her down more than a few times. When we were first seated and I asked a question about the menu before I could finish my question I was completely cut off. I thought that was rather rude. The service is slow! It should not take over 10 minutes to receive your drinks. Nor should it take about 45 minutes to receive your food. But as I said maybe they are understaffed and it was busy. I can’t tell though most customers seemed to be in the bar area and not at tables getting food.

Got here on a saturday night. Live band which was a good thing. First thing was $ 12 chicken nachos. Stale chips and fake cheese. Sent it back after taking one chip. Tried quesadillas and a salad, then waited 20 minutes for a fork to eat said salad. Reminded me of coming to america… «go ahead, taste the soup… ahh– hahhh. Ok. If the the help wasnt awesome we probably would have just left… something was sent back to kitchen and no manager either… pretty surprised at that. Wont be back.

30 minutes later, quesadillas bad too. Paid bill and left food uneaten.

Great music on Friday night. Good sushi.

A friend and I drove down to the shore Friday night and wanted to try a different place to eat. I did some research and found Sunsets. It’s on the water where boats are docked. We arrived about 5pm just in time for happy hour. Great diversified crowd 30s+ We both ordered red sangria ($ 5.00 a glass happy hour price). It had a nice little kick and plenty of fruit.
Claire was our waitress and she was awesome, helpful and extremely accommodating. We started off with the lobster bisque that had just enough sweetness where when you put in the oysterette crackers you can taste the combo of sweet and salty. For an entrée we shared the seafood platter. It came with flounder (about 3.5 skinny pieces), 4 shrimp, and 4 scallops. Instead of the rice pilaf, we got french fries. It also came with steamed veggies. The veggies were the only thing that was meh. Another situation where it seemed they were steamed out of a Bird’s Eye bag but the fish was amazing! The flounder was so tender and flaky.
The check came to a little over 50.00. I gave the waitress a nice tip because she was cool with us splitting the meal and kept coming over to check on us. It was definitely worth the hour and a half drive. We will be back!

We had never eaten here before, yet passed by the location for many years now. After trying the new place next door last week & having a great lunch, we decided to venture back to the block «Sunsets» is on, to try them out for dinner. So we asked to be seated «dinner for 2,» and sat outside where there were only 3 other tables seated (there were NO people sitting inside at those dozen or so tables.) An older couple at one of those tables had drinks & seemed to have ordered already; a table of 5 adults & 3 kids ordered drinks while we sat there looking over the menu — their waiter came back 5 minutes later with only the soft drinks and said «I’ll be back with your drinks in a minute.» So at this point we have been sitting there with the menus for about 7 minutes, with not a single employee coming to the table (no water, no silver wear, no waiter, no waitress, even tho 2 other servers were walking around looking around and at the tables & talking to the outside bartender, while the busboy folded stuff or fiddled with stuff on the table next to us as well.) 5 minutes after all this the waiter (the only one who seemed to be actually «working,» brought the bigger table 2 Martinis from the inside bar.) I then noticed the older couple had their meals (I guess one of the other 2 waitresses brought it to them,) yet still even after nearly 12-​to-​15 minutes there was no one at all checking in with us, even with our Menus closed & us obviously ready to order (at least a DRINK!) So, we got up and left. Walked right past 2 servers AND the hostess who seated us without any of them asking if there were any problems (I can’t recall such HORRIBLE service on a Friday night «at the shore» at 6pm, even — ever!) and it’s not even like they were busy! We will never go back or suggest this place to any one we know! A MUST TO AVOID !!!

The location can’t be beat, but unlike real estate, location location location IS NOT everything. Location 5+, service 0, food 3, comfort (chairs and noise) 1. I see others have posted about management– I don’t think there is any!!! Waited 15 minutes at bar for a drink. The band was ok– but we couldn’t have a conversation so we moved. Waited 8 minutes for hostess (as the sign said– wait here for hostess!) finally went inside — were I felt like I was bothering the sloppy dressed hostess. Server came over quickly– then we hardly saw her again (there was only 1 other table at that point) had to ask for water (it was 98 degrees out!) finally got it on 3^rd request from busboy. No dressing in salad– it was wilted before she finally brought it to us. Good was decent — although we were given the wrong thing. Happy hour drink was $ 8??? Next time we’ll try somewhere else! My companion is a local– we (used to) go there a lot. Moving on…

Mediocre across the board. The tuna appetizer was tired and underwhelming. The tuna was overcooked. the presentation was slapped together. The portion was small.
the steak sandwich was decent but not memorable. The cocktails were also mediocre.
Tired, underwhelming and average at best. Will not go back and it’s a shame as I’m walking distance and would love a local place with walkability. My boyfriend felt similarly about his lobster roll.

Great view and has the potential to be a spot that I would frequent more often. However, the drinks are over priced and the music is too loud. We were seated on the outside patio overlooking the water but could not hold a conversation because the volume of the music (live band) at the bar was deafening through out the place making it challenging to enjoy the company that you are with.

We went there yesterday and received Samuel Adams beer that expired in 2014!!! Unfortunately we noticed that after we had one beer each … We told the waiter so he knew not to serve someone else that beer but he didn’t care… I will upload a picture with the expired beer. Such a pity because the place is nice but seems like it’s doomed to be under really bad management

Sushi is good and fresh. Wing sauce is hot and spicy but wings are small and fatty. Chicken and cheese empanadas are tasty… served with sour cream, really? Not even trying. Fried pickles are awesome. Service is mediocre at best. Basically it sucks. Basic apps/​Food took over 20 minutes to arrive. We (8 ppl) are sitting outside at the high tops by the bar. The bartenders and /​or bussers have not once come by to take away any plates, or ask if us if we want more drinks. We’ve had to clean several times by bringing plates and glasses to the bar counter. No one came by to ask how the food is or how we doing. Really sad! Bartenders (females) have not smiled once. They look and sound miserable. Our group is having a great time bc we are just funny and happy ppl but I am not impressed by this joint at all. They survive solely on their liquor store/​package goods store, and have a beautiful outdoor setting with the boats, water and sunset. They need serious improvement on menu and service. I really think your experience differs based off of the day and time that you come.
I came here twice with my co-​workers for lunch, and it was very good food and quiet. Servers obviously are attentive since there’s a small pint of tables to serve during lunch time.
I got the subset burger — your standard beef and lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Cooked exactly how I like, medium rare. And fries and the wedge type, usually soggy at other restaurants. They were well seasoned and crunchy throughout my entire meal.
If you order their sushi or any fish, you’ll be very satisfied. Prices are also reasonable for how great the quality of the food is.
Highly recommend if you aren’t sure whether or not u want a nice platter, seafood or a sandwich.

Don’t judge Sunsets by the recent reviews, I go here often and for the most part the food is consistently good however there as been a few off nights. This past Friday night was actually one of the best nights, food was exceptionally good, service was great, fun entertainment and lively local crowd. Like most shore seasonal restaurants the prices are a bit on the high side — But the sunsets are worth it

Fantastic place to experience the jersey shore… Variety of seafood and plenty of booze. Waterfront bar, plenty of sun, boats saltwater and music… Recipe for a great evening with friends. A place to let you hair down and have some fun !!!
