I have not had the wraps or wings yet. But my friends seem to love this place. I have had the shakes and smoothies and they are very good. I like them a lot. The wings looked good and the place is open very late.

They refused to give me a cup of tap water when I asked for one – after I had ordered a full breakfast. Seriously? What a stupid way to piss off a customer. That, and when I approached the counter to request said tap water, literally every employee in sight was staring into his or her phone. Not one of them noticed that I was standing right there. Management here needs to get its act together.

If you want mediocre food that tastes like your typical college student cooking come to this place. The place was empty for Father’s Day which was expected since this is a typical college student spot and school is out. We ordered a western omelette, coco crisp and chicken balsamic wrap. My wrap looked like a five year old rolled it. The meat in the western omelette wasn’t even chopped and was just rolled right into it. Never again!

Food is freshly cooked and well made. Prices are a very good value for amount of food you receive. Blueberry pancakes have a generous amount of fresh, tasty berries and not that horrible gloppy compote that so many restaurants use. Western omelette is large and full of ham, cheese and veggies. Two empty coffee urns when I arrived but the moment I mentioned the issue, at the counter, a young man started moving to fix the situation. When I next gave him the empty half and half container he also corrected that and replaced it with a brand new container. It is also terrific to find all milk and cream stored in a small, cold fridge on coffee counter and not left out to give everyone food poisoning.

Working in the downtown New Brunswick area gives you a lot of options but after being at my place of employment for now 3 years I feel like I might have literally tried just about everything. Which gets pretty boring. Despite that, Hansel ‘n Griddle is so good! They also have a lot to choose from which makes it better. Today, I went with the chicken Cesar salad and added avocados for an extra $ 1.50. I had the order delivered to my job and honestly it took about 35 minutes if that. I would recommend this place and if you’re not watching your weight like me then defiantly go for the Tots(sure to NEVER disappoint) or a nice crisp! And I mean the prices are great. Can’t beat the deal.

Um… YUM! Everything on the menu sounds delectable, and each bite is even more delicious than the last. The wrap that I got featured a savory herbal glaze that accentuated the roast beef, pepperjack and honey mustard sauce just right. The buffalo crisp that my boyfriend got was even better! So much cheese and buffalo sauce with the right amount of breading on the chicken and just enough crunch on the tortilla. Definitely come here when visiting Rutger’s!

Food is average. The crisp and their specials are good nothing amazing. The wraps, paninis, and sandwiches aren’t great.

I’ve been going to Hansel since 2007 back when I was a freshman at RU(And they were on Mine st). The location has changed but the food has stayed more or less the same. Prices — Have gone up over the years but have always stayed pretty reasonable. You’ll be paying $ 10-$ 12 for a dish, pasta salad, and a drink. Smoothies are $ 5 which is relatively standard, Service — This is where the«–1 star» is coming from. As much as I want to give Hansel a 5, they consistently screw up basic instructions. If you have any«Extra X, No X, X on the side» type of instructions, be sure to check your food. In addition, there have been many occasions when I come in, there is one person at the counter answering a call in order while 4 people stand behind the counter talking and not helping me. This is NOT a knock on the owner, as Hansel is always well staffed, it’s simply a reflection on the actual people working there. I get it guys, it’s a college job, but put in some effort please. Food — My *one* complaint about the food is that as a fan of roast beef, the roast beef they use here is just terrible. Besides that, there is a long list of high quality menu items. My personal favorites:(Crisps are basically quesadillas) –Breakfast Crisp w/Bacon –Buffalo Chicken Crisp –Cheesesteak Wrap –Sundried tomato chicken pesto panini –Chicken cheese popper (The last two are«specials» but they have them often enough that I felt it appropriate to list them) In addition, THEBEST pasta salad in the area, no question. Overall, a great go to spot if you’re at college or simply living in the area and want a cheap filling meal.

Great place to go when you are looking for a reasonably priced meal in college ave that isn’t pizza or a fat sandwich. I would suggest getting the crisps(they are just fajitas). Very very good and they are a big portion. Also the shakes are top notch and made without mix(made with fresh ingredients). The workers are usually helpful and nice. Most are just college students trying to pay tuition so it is very relatable for me. Lastly, there is always free pickles! A good thing to snack on while waiting.

Overall I appreciate Hansel. It is always there for you, during a snowstorm or late at night. They have vegetarian options, even if they aren’t the best things in the world. The s’mores cookie is really really good and they’ll warm it up for you. I like the smoothies(but hate that they come in styrofoam). My omnivore bf likes the wings and the buffalo crisp is always reliable. I really like the greek salad. My only real dislikes are the caesar wrap(it is just wilted lettuce), and their homemade ranch was flavorless. Overall though, its a safe bet when you’re tired of pizza.

I went here today. I ordered the Italian Panini. It was filled with meat & you actually got your money’s worth. It was very tasty as well as cheap! It wasn’t crowded at all and we had quick, good service!

Stopped in late morning after court appearance in New Brunswick, NJ., looking for breakfast and hot java. The space is small, but modern with less than ten booths, and a focus on take away. I checked the overhead digital menu and asked for the Breakfast Burrito. The folks behind the counter were friendly and helpful. They explained that each meal was prepared when ordered, and thus everything was hot and fresh. I retreated to a booth facing the TV and settled in. About 5 minutes later I was served a plate on which sat a large silver-wrapped conical package within which hid the burrito. Upon unsealing my meal I found a super sized tortilla that had a nice aroma, but which was otherwise not visible within. I had to take a huge bite to make a large enough opening to spy within. I saw egg, bacon, onion, green pepper, cheese, ketchup, salt and pepper. The taste was good, but perhaps unbalanced with too much firm green pepper, and not enough bacon or cheese to allow those flavors to dominate. Neither did I capture essence of salsa or other chili-like spices. Rather, there was a subtle sweetness. Not bad, but not expected. Hansel ‘n Griddle has a nice operation here, and using clever fairy tale identity is nice as long as it lends to the overall impression of the experience. I thought it did. Lunch may be the sweet spot for this establishment, but breakfast was solid, if not inspiring.

my nose was ready for the rancid overload of Buffalo sauce you get bitchslapped with when you walk into the door. the popcorn buffalo chicken crisp is literally what my fraternity brothers lived off of. when in rome right. it was good… not very cheesy… a little too salty. the chicken was bangin, the bleu cheese was crack. and then i ordered a banana flip, which revived me but it was like eating a childish smoothie. just sugar too much peanut butter. college food i guess. its dirty addictive and relies on those staple beloved ingredient. its just too heavy for me. the whole meal. i never cared for it too much in college and i still dont know. ill eat it once in a blue moon.

Love Hansel. Been here a bunch and I almost always get the buffalo chicken crisp. Load it with bleu cheese and you’re set. The potato wedges are also delicious. I’ve gotten a burger here once too and it was pretty basic, but the wedges made it better. Definitely try one of their milkshakes too, they’re great.

Food is great and they offer delivery with a $ 30 minimum order. First off, breakfast is cheap. It’s hard to reach a $ 30 minimum on breakfast. I ordered a breakfast for 5 people and still didn’t reach the minimum to order. Second, if you’re going to have a minimum, be consistent. One day my order total was $ 9 and nothing was said about the minimum. The next day my order was $ 25 and they told me I fell short– this was when I finally learned of the minimum. Needless to say, I haven’t ordered since because it’s too hard to reach that $ 30 minimum and they’re too inconsistent for me to take my chances. I need my breakfast. I’ll go where I know I won’t have an issue.

3.5 to be exact. I’ll round up for nostalgia. In a nice location by Rutgers New Brunswick, Hansel ‘n Griddle has been around for years. I would frequent this place when visiting Rutgers friends and still would come back here once a while to remember the old times and get a crisp! This was and seems to still be a great college food and hangout spot. This is a no frills spot as you just order at the register and wait for your food to be ready. Being here many times I have had much of the menu, and my favorite items are their take on a quesadilla, the crisp. They really do make it just a crispy quesadilla! My favorite crisp here is the buffalo chicken, as it has the spiciness that I enjoy! The other crisps that I enjoyed here are the Spinach & Chicken and the Coco(has roast beef and bacon) crisps. Also, this is the little kid in me saying that I like the fact they serve tater tots here! When you order the tater tots or potato wedges, you can opt to have them with gravy, cheese, bacon & cheese, gravy & cheese, or chili & cheese. You cannot really go wrong with any of those options in my eyes… so indulge!

THISPLACEISAMAZING!!! if there were 6 stars, it wouldve gotten that. This place was recommended to me by a friend who was just saying how great the food taste. I had to come try it myself. I came here during lunch and the place wasn’t too busy. I ordered the Popcorn Buffalo Chicken Crips and Potato Wedges. The Popcorn Buffalo Chicken Crips didnt taste dry and had enough sauce. The chicken wasn’t overcooked. The portion was fairly big, I couldn’t finish the rest of mine and ended giving half of it to my boyfriend. I also had to take the potato wedges home because I couldn’t finish that either. But I think the food was worth it for the price. I am not from around the area but I would most definitely come back to try the smoothies, which was recommended to me by my friends.

This was probably the only place that was open at 10AM within walking distance from the Rutgers Big Chill race so it was super packed. Wait time probably was 10 minutes to put in an order and 20 minutes to wait for the food. Breakfast burrito was pretty mediocre(could have made it at home). The cheese was sliced American cheese and not melted. The wrap was also slathered in ketchup and overwhelmed the taste of the wrap. Quite the let down. The blueberry pancakes, on the other hand, were very fluffy and delicious. The blueberries were obviously fresh and not frozen. The syrup, however, was wayy too thick. It was difficult to pour/scoop onto the pancakes without strings of syrup landing on everything(think long strings of mozzarella cheese but sticky!). Prices here were very cheap($ 4 – 8 for breakfast items) so that was a plus. Overall though, nothing exciting to come back and try again.

Great prices, great quality — RU staple spot! The new location is great, clean, and perfect for sitting down to eat. Love their crisps(ahem, buffalo chicken crisp) and smoothies. And nowhere can you get low prices for great food. I would eat this everyday if I could(but, I’ve left the area and come back once in awhile).

Increíble, el menú es básico, no llama la atención. El sabor de cada cosa que pedís te hace querer volver y probar algo nuevo a ver con qué te sorprenden.

4 solid stars for their crisps! But seriously, do yourself a favor and just order their Crisps! For those who don’t know what they are, it’s their own version of a quesadilla — so delicious. The times I’ve eaten here before I’ve only ordered their Crisps and I was never disappointed. This past week though I made the mistake of ordering their Original Chicken Sandwich — it was as if I had ordered a loaf of bread. There was almost no chicken in the sandwich. I’m still giving them 4 stars for their Crisps — they are just too good.
