Sammy’s Cafe

A good, cheap spot, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. I got the eggs on hash and a coffee for $ 10. The eggs were well cooked and the coffee was Utica Roasters, which was as good as always. Only downside was that the hash was from a can, which is always a disappointment.
My server was extremely nice, and came back to check on me just the right amount. She also kept the coffee flowing, which was a must. The owner was around as well, answering questions and talking to customers which was a nice touch. Definitely not a place to take your parents if they only visit once a year, but a good casual spot!

Great place for breakfast in New Hartford! Has a bit more upscale feel than most diners in the area, but the prices are still reasonable. There were lots of specials the morning we went, which is always appreciated. The giambotta (an upstate NY staple which is a mix between an omelette and loaded scrambled eggs) was particularly tasty and highly recommended. I also appreciated that the toast was made with high quality bread and the coffee mugs were large enough to not have to be refilled every 5 minutes.

Came here with my girlfriend, we were dropping off book at the UC library and decided we wanted to have some lunch. After lots of searching and debate we settled on Sammy’s, and we we not disappointed!
Atmosphere and décor is your typical diner/​café: plenty of regulars, basic chairs and tables, no frills… just how it should be. I like how they bring out mugs right off the bat just in case you want coffee.
Service was great! Attentive but not annoying, and very friendly! The menu is very straightforward and simple with breakfast on one side and everything else on the other. The girlfriend and I both opted for paninis.
I got the Blue Welch which was an absolutely incredible roast beef sandwich with sweet potato fries, and my girlfriend got the Reuben. Both sandwiches were incredible! portions were great and the fries were amazing. If we ever venture back into the Utica area we will definitely be back!

Had brunch here last weekend. I had the special, which was a Flatbread breakfast pizza. it was amazing! my friend had a bacon omelet, which came with potatoes and toast. the whole meal was delicious, and the price was more than reasonable. I’ve recommended it to loads of people this week! I think it’s my new favorite breakfast place! They serve Utica coffee, so make sure to get a cup. it was incredibly delicious!

I really like this place and come here often for breakfast. Food comes out fast, and it’s relatively inexpensive. Their specials always sound really good too. It’s a nice place to stop in or stay a while! Staff is very friendly as well.

Stopped for an early lunch. Yummy food, pleasant servers and nice atmosphere. Utica greens were terrific!

Stopped by on our way home from a Open house at Utica… great food, great service. My family and I were very please! Good Job Sammy’s we are a hard family to impress!

Found this place by chance. What an awesome place! Food was great and the staff was so friendly! I recommend Sammy’s to everyone.

I just ate here after being snubbed by raspberries café with poor customer service. Sammys was AWESOME!!! My family and I loved it and will only go here now! I had eggs Benedict (which I get everywhere I go) and it was excellent! Thank you Sammys for turning my day around! If your in the area choose Sammys over raspberries for breakfast much better service!!!

Went to Sammy’s for breakfast with a friend and could not have been more pleased. Our waitress was friendly and polite. Our order came out quickly and was amazing.
I ordered the waffle special which was a Nutella waffle and was not disappointed. It came out and covered in delicious Nutella and powdered sugar. I would definitely order it again!
My friend ordered the sunrise special which she says was fantastic. It came with eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and the option of a pancake, french toast, or half a waffle. A lot of food for a great price.
The overall experience was fantastic. Great food, great price, great atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

The food was absolutely delicious; however, the service was extremely slow. It seemed as if their wait staff had little experience. Definitely need to work on that!

Sammy’s Café delivered a solid breakfast experience. The wait staff was nice, portions were plentiful, and the food was delivered quickly. Sammy’s serves diner-​like breakfast without the diner-​like feel. The interior is nice with exposed brick and tin tiles. I ordered the vegetable Giambotte with hot peppers. My friends ordered an omelet and French toast. Everything was good. I’ll return but will continue to explore other brunch options around.

Cute little café’ in the village of new hartford– it used to be «Casab’s» but they are under new ownership now and changed the name and the menu. Mom and I came here for lunch and we had the eggplant fries which were good and we shared the bruschetta panini– a little too much balsamic dressing for my taste but my mom loved it. Our waitress was really nice and the food came out fast– we will be back!

I frequent many area restaurants for breakfast and have been searching for something special. Sammy’s is that something special! They have your everyday staples but made their way along with various different menu items. I had the sunrise breakfast with sausage links and a half waffle and I was very very happy with the portion size and taste. I will go back to try every menu item and look forward to lunch as well. Oh yeah, the service was hospitable and accommodating. Definitely a place to frequent!!!

They have been opened a few weeks now so we decided to try it instead of our normal breakfast place. Bottom line is that we were very disappointed.
The acoustics of the restaurant makes it very noisy. I don’t mean a little noisy. I mean we had to raise our voices to hear each other.
It took a really long time to be seated and no one else was waiting for a table. When we were finally seated they forgot the silverware and napkins even after the long wait for coffee. We snatched silverware from another table.
The food came in average time but everything was cold, toast was hard.
The home fries are deep fried with no other options, The cook decided to pour tons of salt on them. making then uneatable for me.
My wife ordered a special that included 2 eggs — she wanted then «over easy». When they came one egg was on top of the other. Seems that one egg was overcooked and the cook decided to cover it up by placing a properly cooked egg on top of the overcooked egg — to hide it. Pretty odd.
We both got bacon and it too was very salty.
My order included 2 eggs «over medium» and one of then was served right side up and the other egg was upside down. Pretty sloppy cookmanship.
We waited a little while for the check — but ended up just walking to the cashier to pay with no check and that confused the workers for some reason.
Waitress was nice, but we will never go back. they have a long way to go to compete with the other great breakfast restaurants within a couple miles of Sammy’s.
One more thing … my decaf coffee was on the weak side.

Good spot for breakfast.
Food has been consistently good, I enjoy their breakfast sandwich, and blueberry pancakes. Their home fries and bacon also get a thumbs up.
Gets 4 stars because it takes an eternity to get the check and pay every time I’ve been.
