Food is ok and fairly priced, the staff is what has me coming back again and again. Breakfast is the way to go, everything else is ok.

Okay. Just ok, with a dash of over priced, but the waitress was friendly and the portion generous. The place is conveniently located, and brightly lit. The Greek salad was disappointing. The beef in the souvlaki was quite fatty. The grilled chicken Caesar rap was quite good. The chick peas and coleslaw that came to the table with pickles at the beginning or a big thumbs up. The milkshake was fine. Would not go out of my way to come here again, but would definitely not go out of my way to avoid coming here again.

To be completely honest, this place can be hit or miss depending on when you go in terms of service. The biggest minus to this place is the parking situation, but that’s not the diner’s fault. Their parking lot in the park is very limited. And don’t even think about the smaller parking lot next to the diner on Union Tpke, your car WILL get towed. Anyway, this particular visit on a Sunday morning, the waitress — Annie was great. Her co-worker, the gentleman who came around a few times to make sure we had enough coffee, was also great. My wife and I hope they keep these two wonderful workers. There’s plenty of diners out there, but good help are not so easy to find now-a-day.

It seems hard to find a great diner these days… And Skyline is not great but it is good… service is adequete, food is very quick out of the kitchen and the place is clean. We ordered breakfast and lunch… I had poached eggs on buttered whole wheat bread with burnt home fries and great sausage and Bonnie G. had a Chicken Salad with Greek Salad lunch special. Both were prepared nicely and worth the price point. From the outside, the front looks dumpy with the peak over the front door all plywood… like something is being constructed or the place is just falling apart. Yes, I am a fan because its better than most other LI diners… last week went to Westbury diner which was not a good experience… This is not on a par with Broadway diner in Hicksville which is the standard for Long Island.

This isn’t my go-to diner, but I come here to dine periodically, about once every three months or so. The location isn’t great, since parking is a big problem. The lot is easily accessible in one direction, but the other directions are hard to access the parking lot. The décor is typical diner ambiance, with the usual bland booths, lots of tables, two separate sections, and a large chandelier which is actually quite nice in the middle of the dining room. The menu is actually pretty reasonable(price and food wise.) Their sandwich selection is quite large and they do have a large pasta selection as well. Service is fine, I don’t understand the negative reviews about service. They aren’t the friendliest, but they are attentive and the owner is chatty. Food comes out pretty quickly. I had their chicken parm panini which was $ 11 and came with two sandwich halves, each of which were huge, along with a handful of crisp fries. The chicken was cooked well and the panini itself was great. Their reubens are yummy. Their burgers are cooked to your liking and are consistently good. They do have lots of entrees, but I haven’t had any of them in a while.

Sadly lacking as a diner in NY, mainly because of the owner/manager. I kid you not, the owner played some horrible music from his phone by the cash register where he camped out and made disparaging remarks to his employees, right in front of customers(like me). It was so horribly distracting and rude, and the music totally clashed with the diner(where people go to have a nice quiet meal). The older people next to me were much more upset than I was too, as the«ethnic music» was more appropriate for a Middle Eastern restaurant versus a mainstream diner. And it was from his cellphone too, so it was horrible quality in the sound, not even from speakers. The waiters were quick and fast like any good diner, and the short order cooks can crank out breakfast at night as fast as they can in the morning and it tastes great. They have potential, but need new management that understand the industry they are in.

So my hunny works right by this diner and on our way from his job we were hungry and saw that it was the only place open still so we stopped in here to give it a try even though his co-workers had warned him about it. We should’ve listened to these warnings because it was definitely a poor experience. I liked that they have jukeboxes and they have modern music and oldies music. The waitress wasn’t rude but she wasn’t really nice either. She seemed like she was ready for her shift to be over which I can understand but we all have to do our jobs right? I ordered the chicken sandwich which came with onions, bacon and cheese with bbq sauce on it. I have never been to any type of restaurant that states a sauce comes on the sandwich but when the sandwich comes they give you a sauce packet like you ordered chicken nuggets from McDonalds. The chicken was bland as if it was cooked with no seasoning whatsoever and there were cooked onions and raw onions which was overwhelming and just plain gross. I can’t even remember what my bf ordered but he said his food was not that great either. I do not think we will be returning here again.

I still like the staff, but the last three times I went there, they gave me the crap burger platter. You know the one… half the usual fries built from whatever potato was left with the burger that they cooked to medium rare several times over until it became a hockey puck and a slightly burnt bun. What the hell guys? If the meat is old and you have no potatoes, tell me to order something else. How do you put that in front of me with a straight face? I was a regular customer and thought the first two times were aberrations, but on the third time I didn’t eat any of it. The waiter asked me if I liked the food and I asked him if the chef was having a bad day… so we laughed about it, but the bill came anyway and nobody acknowledged that I was paying for a meal I didn’t eat. Worst of it, I saw the waiter tell the manager and they just let me walk out. Cool, see ya on the flip side. I’ll check Unilocal and come back when management changes yet again.

Although the diner was clean and professional, it didn’t have the diner feel I was looking for. A big and mixed menu with diner favorites. I had Matzo Ball soup and my wife had the chicken soup. The Matzo balls had egg shell in it and we were not served well or with politeness. The serves seemed like they did not care and when I asked for hot water for my tea, I was met with attitude from 3 different servers. Sorry guys, no tip for you.

ANDHISTORYREPEATS: Well guess what– the Skyline has new owners again as of summer 2014. Seems a bit strange how often this diner changes ownership. The servers are nice and friendly. But, the verdict is still out as to the food, a little hit or miss. Let’s see how long before it changed hands again ;-)

Dropped by for dinner with my wife since this place was on our way home from work. We have been here many times before but never Unilocaled, so nows my opportunity lol. I ordered their buffalo wings which was pretty bad, it tastes burnt and was over cooked. I would highly recommend not getting their buffalo wings. My wife got the triple decker tuna fish salad which is good. The two stars I gave them was for the buffalo wings. The place was clean and well lit. The staff was friendly and welcoming.

I went to this diner because it was close to where I live, and was pleasantly surprised at how good the food is. The chef must be super because whatever I order is delicious. The portions are large. a huge menu, and they accommodate your preferences to add to your order. The service is excellent, very clean, appealing premises, and the prices are reasonable. When I eat out with others, we go there frequently. I recommend this diner highly, you will enjoy it.

Do something about your parking lot; Horrendous. This place is like asking for scratches, dents and/or a fender bender for your car. Also, the food is extremely oily. Ironically, the oiliness is more suited for cars(instead of consumption) than the diner’s actual parking lot.

I came here this evening for a quick bite after a day of shopping. My friend and I shared a Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken. Some of pieces were a tad underdone. Of course we should have sent it back, but the waitress seemed a bit strange. She suggested we could get a pita with that. We thought it was instead of bread sticks. They charged us for it. It was only a dollar… It was not a big deal… Glad we shared the salad because 11 bucks a piece to share a marginal salad and a pita was ridiculous.

When I entered, I felt like I was coming in through a back door! All of the mirrors & reflective surfaces were making me dizzy. I opted for a Belgian waffle. I thought it was over priced, but I am from the Mid West! I don’t think I would go back. It was like a bad time warp for me.

I went there after a grueling day and hours at LIJ with a family member. We looked for someplace close, and this was perfect. We were greeted and seated right away. The wait staff members were very nice and attentive.. They seated us with a lovely plate of seasoned chick peas, coleslaw and pickles. The brought a basket of lovely breads and delicious warm cornbread. My chicken francaise over penne was plentiful, though a little bland(a little garlic added to the leftovers made it great). My husband had the liver and onions and my dad had the pork chops. All meals were large and came with great sides. The salads were HUGE! All in all positive, regretfully no room or time for dessert. I would go back.

Stale coffee? At 8am? Come on… So I work pretty close to this diner and after a long graveyard shift, I decided to stop in for some breakfast before running a bunch of errands. Got my coffee right away and ordered a 2 eggs scrambled, that came with toast and potatoes. The food came out almost instantly, I was actually kind of weirded out. Maybe the chef has telepathy? Or do the eggs and potatoes come from a giant pre-made vat? The eggs were… bland. Maybe they do it on purpose so you could season them yourself, but I took one bite and was chewing on air. They were also not fluffy at all, flat like a pancake. A scrambled pancake of airy eggs. After some salt, pepper and ketchup, they were fine. I took a nice long sip of coffee and was met with a burning in my mouth and then the taste of stale. Not only was the coffee frightfully hot, but it tasted like it was left on the burner too long. The potatoes were just ok, and a little too soggy for my liking. My toast came out burnt, but I figured I’d just butter it and dip it in with my eggs. Hello pat of butter with the consistency of a brick. The butter wasn’t even freezing cold like I’d expect it to be at that consistency, it was just hard and seemed old. My breakfast came with a shot glass of orange juice that was downed in a gulp to get the burnt taste of toast and coffee out of my mouth. Sad, I was hoping this place would be a hit. It’s right by both my work and my gym, so I could have seen myself going there either pre or post workout for some food. I think I’ll pass.

Since this diner is walking distance from my home, we’ve decided to give the place a try. OK…we gave it a try and there’s nothing special about it. The food was decent but the portions weren’t generous but just enough. I’ve been to better diners and this one is a place to go to if you’re hungry and don’t feel like driving.
