dinner for me and the guy. drinks– cosmo– horrible I will leave it at that. Appetizer. shrimp cocktail — Big shrimp nice and cold, tasty sauce. My dinner was pork chop Vesuvio. more like 2 thin chard pork chops with 2 cups of peas on the side and greasy tasteless thick cut round potatoes. Nothing vesuvio about it. no type of sauce or oil or seasonings at all. my guy orderd angel hair pasta with meat sauce and a meatball and sausage on the side. the meat sauce was«ok» very good meatball and sausage. Wait time from kitchen was long. restaurant was not busy went on a tuesday about 4pm. nice waitress did not get a refill on the soda until the meal was finished We will go back and try one more time because we heard good reviews. it was just ok

I went forth he first time for a christening after party on Sunday. Beer was cold, they had cold mugs, they had copper mugs for Moscow mules, even asked my wife if she wanted the chilled Cabernet which was cool. Food was great too, pork chops, pasta, Italian sausage and peppers, peas, I highly recommend this place for group entertaining!

I was meeting some of my cousins for dinner and they suggested Gatto’s. We were a little confused by how there are no menus, you look at the chalkboard. Service was very attentive and friendly. We had two year old twins at the table and he was very nice to them and even picked up a toy that went flying(sorry!). He also kept the crispy bread coming. I couldn’t stop eating it… So delicious with oil and Parmesan cheese! I ordered pasta carbonara. It was little shells cooked al dente. Perfect! The sauce wasn’t what I am used to but overall the dish was good and a huge portion. I also tried the stuffed shells. This was another huge portion, four large shells full of ricotta! Delicious!

I had a horrible experience dining at Gatto’s. The service was not great, no one greets you at the front and you just stand there waiting around, and the food portions were small. For the prices there, you would expect to be dining at an exceptional restaurant. This was far from the case. I will not be returning to this restaurant and I do not recommend anyone going there.

The food is good, but the service is always lacking unfortunately. We give this restaurant another try every 3 – 6 months and every time it’s the same experience. They need a little competition in town. Sadly there aren’t many restaurants in New Lenox that are in this category.

Delicious food in a great ambiance. As always very polite service… never felt rushed to free up the table when visiting with a friend!

Gattos is hit and miss, can be good and can be not so good depending on what night you are there. Their interpretation of common Italian dishes sometimes is very poor. I hade Fettucine Carbonara which should be fettucine with Italian bacon. I was served pasta screws with ham. I did not like it. Perch Limone very good. Pasta sauce not so goodThere are better Italian dinners around. I suggest trying them.

I really wanted to like this place! I really did. We stood at the door for a quite a while, waiting to be greeted. Bad first impression.

Went Sunday night for date night. Not crowded. Sat in bar area. Service was excellent. Fried zucchini appetizer was huge hot and delicious. All for around $ 5. We had eggplant parmesian and lasagna. Both very good. I love the eggplant here its not full of nasty breading. Prices reasonable for entrees but really dont like nothing comes with them. Had to pay extra $ 2.95 for house salad. Nice house wine(Woodbridge) for $ 6. So sick of nasty house wines for $ 8 and $ 9 dollars a glass. Lemon drop martini was so so and $ 9. The pond cake was wonderful served with a scoop of ice cream. Nice meal .will return. Best food in new lenox.

Having two kids under three years old, and very limited options I have opted for Gatto’s more often lately than I usually do. I always do carryout because bringing the rug-rats out is usually more trouble than we have then energy for after a long day at work. The food is adequate. I can’t really knock it for anything specific other than it is always somewhat underwhelming. Oh and some annoying things to comment on as a carryout patron. 1. the bread they send with the food always appears to be torn by hand or smashed flat by a dull knife. annoying. 2. If you have tin containers with the clear lids and you put a very oily entrée in them. Wrap that container in plastic wrap. Fairly certain that my truck will smell like garlic/olive oil forever. Its attention to detail that drives me nuts.

Decent restaurant. Service was quick and accurate. Pricing was fair. Food was solid. 3 people at my table agreed that the meatball was terrible, one said it was the worse meatball ever. Bread was stale, it was smooshed, and seemed left over. Potions a bit smaller than normal Italian, but that’s not a bad thing. Most are too big these days. I cleared my plate. Overall I’d come back… Beats all the chains around town.

The spicy Arrabbiata sauce is a must try. Choose a pasta and ask for this sauce which is really a spicy red Puttanesca with olives and capers. The chicken Vesuvio is also great.

The first time there because we were given a gift card. Waited to be seated as the line behind us kept growing. Finally seated. No table menu, only a large board on the wall. Luckily we inquired as there were some typical Italian entrees we didn’t see on the board, OHYES, some entrees aren’t posted on the board. Too bad we didn’t inquire about appetizers. The only posted preparation for calamari was fried — we prefer grilled. After eating it we shared with the waiter that we liked it but prefer grilled to which he responded«oh we do have grilled as well.» THENPUTITONTHEBOARD — or at least provide a supplemental menu for items not posted on the board. Diners want the full scoop, not to play guessing games with your menu. The food was the typical Italian you can get at a lot of places. Nothing special. The biggest disappointment was the cannoli. Not only was the flavor not good, the middle third of the shell had no filling in it! The waiter did take that off of our bill. We are sorry there is still a balance on the gift card as we really don’t want to go back!!!

First off they acted like they didn’t want to serve me. Maybe my skin was too dark? Then when I was finally asked what I wanted after 15 minutes, I was told they were out of veal. An Italian restaurant that is out of veal. I’ve been to the Downers Grove location and that is average. This place is horrible. Stay away !!!

I have visited Gattos three times now which is plenty to form an opinion. For what you pay, you are way better off going to most any other Italian restaurant in the area. The food is just not that good. Had the Chicken Vesuvio and it was dry and plain. Prior to that I had Spaghetti and it was no better than some pasta with Ragu. The service was excellent as our server was very attentive. But no level of service makes up for mediocre food, especially at the prices they charge. Officially crossed Gattos off my list.

Attended a wedding on Saturday. The woman in charge … What a crab! The food was good but when our table went for seconds there was no food left. I have to say I may try the restaurant for the food but the staff left a bad taste in my mouth!

Don’t even know why we attempted to go back here – the food isn’t that good, and the crabby bus boy who gets annoyed if you ask for more bread is always a nice touch. Another awful restaurant in New Lenox. This time, I only say attempted because my daughter and I walked in and were never even asked to be seated. Stood there like an idiot for about 7 – 8 minutes while several waitresses walked by and the old fogie owner glad handed some annoying other old guy and his wife. Not one word. Amazingly bad. I’ll go to Francesca’s next time.

Tonight was our second visit, months apart and both on weeknights. Both times the service was slow and the food took forever to come. The first time, the food was okay, not great. This time it was awful. After I had scooped off about 2 cups of overcooked broccoli onto my bread plate, I ate about half of my overcooked angelhair in lukewarm vodka sauce. Not only did the waitress not notice, and possibly inquire if something might be wrong, when she finally did come by, she asked if I wanted a box. THEN, when I told her about the mushy broccoli, she said people usually say they aren’t cooked enough. Never again. Hubby’s steak was no better.

It has been an incredibly long time since I have disliked a dish enough to send it back. Ordered the fettuccini alfredo and it tasted like cashews. It smelled so strongly of that nuttiness that I had to move the plate away from me to the edge of the table. Despite this clear and obvious signal to our server that there was a problem, she didn’t appear until we were almost ready for our check. I didn’t even want to order anything else after sampling the stuffed shells and lasagna that the rest of my party ordered. It was all extremely bland, without even a hint of the simplest parsley. They barely ate theirs yet the waitress didn’t ask if they liked theirs as well. Considering she didn’t get our drink orders until we were ready to order entrees and never asked about drink refills, it seems like she wasn’t able to keep up with her tables anyway. Yuk. Bad food, slow service, no thanks. EDITED: we all felt queasy later and suspect food poisoning.
