The UPS Store

lost my package not helpful about it blams others for it being misplaced. chris the manager useless has been a complete runaround. i paid for a delivery today at 10;30. its 5 and no package or even an idea of where it is. they lost it and my suggestion would be stay the hell away!!!

When a package MUST go out, this is the place. These guys are super polite and helpful. On several occasions I’ve tried to go to other locations 20 or so minutes before their supposed last pickup to be told unapologeticly I was too late. Not these guys! Last pickups ok right down to the last minute are always delivered next day. Thanks guys!

I must admit that my experience with this location is extremely limited. My current job required fingerprints for some licensing requirements and I chose this location because it was on the way to an appointment in that area in 1 Penn Plaza. The finger print company basically schedules a time for you, and you go to this location and give them your request number and they take and send of your fingerprints to wherever you need to go.
Location:
The 1 Penn Plaza facility can be a number of different places, and may be often confused with the corporate building closer to 8^th Ave. This UPS store is actually located between 7 and 8^th Ave, and actually lies in a passage way just before the entrance of Kmart called the Pearson Park passage.
The Store:
The store seemed to be a typical UPS store location that was well stocked, and with my luck there were only 2 other people ahead of me in line at 10am. It was a clean location that had two employees working at the time. One seemed like a manager sitting the back, and one employee was working the counter and servicing everyone that walked in. They asked me what I needed, said I had to take fingerprints which I had prescheduled and he took me over to the fp scanning machine.
The Fingerprint Process:
One thing I like is that they do not use the traditional ink and paper finger print system. It can be very difficult to get the ink of your fingers. This was an electronic scanning machine, where you put your fingers on the glass to take your prints. If your fingerprints are poorly defined they will put a combination of glycerin and water on your hands to make the scan more defined. The employee had to sit there and literally hold my fingers to take the exam, and was very nice and pleasant to work with. Did the scans and it was set off to whatever agency needed them.
This seems to be a decent UPS location, though I have never mailed a package through this location. But they seemed well equipped to do more than just ship packages, like finger prints, passport photos, and a but of other stuff I had no clue about. My experience was quick, pleasant and perfect.

I am not sure if everyone knows that this is a Franchise not a corporate owned UPS. I went in and asked that package get delivered in 3 days and he gave me absurd rate of $ 187 for my 2 packages. I priced it ahead of time and it was $ 78 Ground which on the UPS website said was guaranteed for the 3 day delivery. He said that guarantee meant nothing. It was 5 days and sometimes 7 days so he said I would have to purchase the 3 day select to get 3 days. When I called UPS they said at that zip code it was 3 days (for ground) and go back to the store to acquire a refund. I was pressed to have the items there and it was late that day so I had to pay the rate and thought in good faith UPS would honor the rate I requested as it said guaranteed. I just happened to get the same «Chris» other refer too. I don’t blame him as the owner puts him out front to get the grief from angry customers and the owner will not deal with us. Actually did not get any satisfaction from UPS either as they said it was a franchise. Funny thing is I see UPS over that door so UPS gets my review. We are talking about gouging for $ 108. I could have printed by shipping label from website, but I was unsure of the process. OK maybe you can call me stupid for paying the rate in the first place, but I thought a huge company like this would stand behind customer satisfaction.
Absolutely DO NOT USE THIS STORE OR FOR THAT REASON ANY UPS. I got the runaround from the store, corporate UPS and well at the UPS store customer service where they take our complaints. I waited the until delivery like «Chris» asked me to as it had to be delivered before they could do anything. And by the way when package was received it had 2 huge holes in it. One they tried to tape over and the other showed the inside of the box. I was lucky though that contents were intact.

Good as a drop off location if you have a self-​printed label (from Amazon or whatever).

Had a horrible experience here. First, you need to get past the large amount of homeless people and unsavory characters that hang out in this plaza. Second, the staff lies to you. When I dropped my package off I asked if the package would be picked up by UPS that day. «Chris» told me it would be. It was not. It wasn’t picked up until 24 hours later. Which meant my package would arrive a day later. I then had to call UPS and go through an insane process to get the delivery address changed so it could go to a location where the recipient would be (they are on tour). Which further delayed the delivery of the package. I won’t be coming back to this store again. In fact, I won’t be using any store to ship my packages anymore. I will just do it directly through UPS. The hassle the UPS Store is supposed to save you, ended up created a bigger hassle for me.

Customer service (Anna) was super helpful and patient with me. She walked me through the process and what I needed to fill out.
They also take DHL packages which is a huge plus.

I had to get some documents notarized and since I had to pick up train tickets at PissStench Station this was quite convenient. Notary services are available at convenient times and the service was friendly and helpful. An added bonus was walking through the throng of highly entertaining doobage smoking, alcohol imbibing, deoderant adverse crackheads who mill about in the park area in the plaza. It was the first time I passed though such a crowd without the usual spare change inquiries.
