Soooo baddddd. Like a lot of people, I had heard that the TSA is in chaos lately, and arrived very early for my flight at EWR. With about two hours to kill, I opted for the Jet Blue terminal’s only sit down choice, Currito Cantina. I didn’t really get there wanting food, but I ordered my beer and saw a picture of some beautiful looking tacos on the menu. I love tacos. They are a weakness of mine, and I suddenly became very hungry. I decided food was on the menu. I am 29 but very young looking, so when I ordered my beer, the waiter said he would have to take my ID. No problem there. I took it out. He then started looking elsewhere and said he had to go do something first. He disappeared for several minutes, and walked back and forth past my table while I was, for having not yet been ID’d, essentially in the middle of ordering. After I had ordered, I saw the bar put out my beer, which waited there for another several minutes while my waiter paced around elsewhere on the floor instead of bringing it to me. If they would have allowed me I gladly would have gone to the bar to grab it myself. Eventually my tacos came out. For the most part they were merely bland, but the guacamole tasted bad and old and maybe even a little rancid. A few bites in, I tasted something really weird and kinda fishy tasting(these tacos were pork) inside the meat, annnnnd it was gross. I quickly became very nauseous, and remained nauseous throughout my plane ride. I’m not necessarily saying there was something bad in those tacos, because it’s not as though I actually became ill, but I am at least saying that there was something so gross tasting in one of them that I became very sick to my stomach.

I was not expecting great food, but what’s puzzling is the service. You’d assume one of the goals is to turn as many table as possible in the fastest way… The wait time is ridiculous. Not a place for a quick bite if you have a flight boarding soon

Given the reviews previously posted, our party of three was a bit apprehensive going into the place. The place was packed, being the only sit down restaurant after security. They did accommodate us though. The waitress made contact within two minutes. Then returned shortly to take our full order. Three minutes later our drinks arrived. Two minutes later our chips and salsa arrived. Three minutes later our entire meal arrived. I turned and remarked to my wife that it only took 8 minutes for it all to come out. I was surprised how quickly it came especially considering the reviews. The food was acceptable considering we were in an airport. The burrito and other food had decent flavor. All things considered, I am giving our experience 5 stars.

Based on recent reviews I would’ve eaten someplace else, but as you can see, there really aren’t any other options. This was fantastic! The line to be seated wasn’t too awful and once we were seated, Karen took good care of us. She brought our water out within minutes of giving our drink orders and our chips and salsa also came out within 5 minutes. Our food was served 8 minutes after ordering. I purposely timed it because of other reviews. I got the chicken quesadilla and the hubby got a pork burrito. Both were excellent and full of flavor. It took a little while to get our check but overall, excellent food and excellent service!

The other reviewers are correct. This place sucks. The chips and guacamole included thick, non restaurant style chips. I stayed away from the mixed drinks based on the other reviews, so my draft Stella was ok. Even though there were open seats at the bar, I was required to wait in line for a seat. EVERYONE at bar was ID’d regardless of age.

Let me break this to you. If you are reading my review, you’re already screwed. This is the only sit down past TSA screening, so grab a seat asap and order immediately. Nothing comes fast here. Quesadillas are fine, beers are cold, but the time lag, due either to slow bartenders or slow servers, or both, is painful. A drink should not take 15 minutes to pour and deliver to a table 10 feet away.

Not too many options for breakfast at this terminal so this is where I landed. I ordered a coffee and a breakfast bowl. The bowl comes with scrambled eggs, roasted potatoes, black beans, chorizo, pico, house salsa and cotija cheese. The bowl was fantastic and very filling. Good flavor and will keep me full for my flight. There are a total of 7 choices for breakfast. A little on the expensive side but it is the airport so that’s expected. A total of $ 14.74 for my meal. Coffee was great but not for $ 3.00. My server Rosemarie was great!

Just had breakfast quesadilla and bloody marry! Both excellent. Bloody Marry had a nice spicy kick and quesadilla was fresh, hot and delicious. Our waiter Franciele was courteous, on time and not pushy. Definitely not what I expected from airport food — what a nice surprise. Highly recommend it at Terminal A

No, just no. There is literally nothing in this entire terminal as far as restaurants go besides Currito Cantina, which is the only reason people were seated there. I came by myself prior to a flight to Toronto, and arrived with plenty of time to kill. The tables are impossibly close together, far too close to give anyone a sense of comfort. Not only are you sitting on your neighbor’s lap, you also get to play this really fun game of «excuse my ass in your face while I try to get by the ridiculously close aisles, with my carry on bag.» As I was brought to my seat, up against a wall, the people seated next to me said, «The food here makes me think I might get food poisoning.» It was at that point I decided I would be drinking wine for dinner. Overpriced wine in fact, since the wine that they have by glass can be classified succinctly as «hangover wine,» but with a $ 13-$ 15 price tag. I get that it’s an airport, but to upcharge shitty wine that much is truly a crime. The service is also criminal. Shitty attitudes and slowwwwwwww. Observing my surroundings, it was for the best that I had a liquid dinner because even salads took at least 40 minutes to come out(my glass of wine took 15 to be delivered to the table and I actually had to get up to get the check from the bar, in fear that I’d miss my flight if I waited for my server to come back to my tight spot in the corner). I will be starving myself or buying from the grab and go next time because this place is gross on all levels.

Got the frijol torts and its pretty terrible… Supposed to be «smashed black beans» with caramelized onion, jack cheese and guac. I got a soggy bun with whole black beans, no onions, no cheese and gauc.(The guac is good for airport food…) I asked if the soggy brown liquid was supposed to be caramelized onions, when the waiter returned he said that they actually did not have caramelized onions. so they served me the sandwich I ordered with 2 of the ingredients missing and a mystery brown liquid. Top notch. The cheese quesadilla wasn’t awful and for $ 7.99 is a decent value for airport restaurants. UPDATE: THEYTRIEDTOCHARGEMEFORTHEGODDAMNTORTATHAT I SENTBACKAFTERONEBITEBECAUSEITWASMISSINGHALFITSINGREDIENTS. Also the server was a dick about it.

This is a garbage«restaurant» in a garbage airport. Avoid it at all costs. I stopped in before my flight because it’s the only place in the terminal that serves booze. I ordered a double vodka and club soda… ANDCOULDN’T TASTETHEVODKA. On a double… are you kidding me?! I also need to check nutritional information and they couldn’t provide any and their website nutritional menu didn’t match the menu there, so I had no idea what the nutritional info was. I settled up my $ 15 drink that I couldn’t taste the booze in and got the hell out of there. If you have to come here before your flight(lucky for them they’re the only place serving booze), stick to beer or liquor on the rocks/straight. The food is overpriced and didn’t look good.

This was the absolute worst service I’ve ever experienced at a business. I asked for vegetarian tacos and after a 30 minute wait, received the most pathetic excuse for a meal. It was basically corn tortillas with some rice inside and a handful of beans. When I originally asked for the tacos the waitress said she could add vegetables and cheese understanding I do not eat meat. I had to wait almost 15 minutes for all the ingredients that I did not receive(cheese, sour cream, pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole). And what boggles my mind is why they didn’t think that these ingredients made up a taco to begin with? Any restaurant that specializes in this cuisine should know that. I told the waitress politely that I did not think it was fair for me to pay for the meal because it was not at all what I asked for. The supervisor — Martina — came out and instead of apologizing or taking any accountability for the mistakes, argued with me for saying what they did was wrong. She took no accountability for the mistakes and actually told me that they don’t make vegetarian tacos so I shouldn’t have asked for it — to which I responded your waitress said you could make them so it was not an unreasonable expectation. For someone who is supposed to be accountable for the satisfaction of her customers(as the supervisor of the restaurant) her treatment was pretty appalling. Would never come here again and think this place needs an entirely new staff that understands customer service.

lol wtf! jesus f**king christ this place is so bad. Old guac, and one of the beer taps was missing. After our flight was delayed, we came back for another beer(since it’s the only place to get beer in this God forsaken terminal). The waiter who served us didn’t even remember us from 5 minutes ago. Anywhere but here.

This sit-down set up in Terminal A is the worst experience that I’ve ever had at any Currito/Boloco restaurant. The food is awful! At least 10 steps down from the conventional fast-casual Currito. Mistake #1 — quesadilla. Not fresh. Old guac. Dry chicken. Is it even real cheese? If you can’t make a decent quesadilla, get out of here! Mistake #2 — I loaded up on drinks — do not do this unless you like sangria that tastes like water down cough syrup and $ 10 bottles of wine that will cost you $ 13 a glass. I literally LOL’d when I saw the bill. It was that ridic. I had excellent room service at the W hotel the night before for the same price.

The only good eatery in this terminal A. The food is over priced, but it’s an airport so it’s expected. $ 9 for a 22oz beer… No prices on the menu. Chips and salsa are $ 4.99. Service sucks, but it’s a good place to chill during layover.

The food was a little pricey for what you get, but that’s airport food for you! We had to grab a quick bite before taking off and we had time so why not. I got the cheese quesadilla, which was very filling and alright. Not bad. The service was super super slow. Which is surprising for an airport and people may be in a rush to catch their flights.

I am sitting down th breakfast inside terminal A. There are not too many options inside the terminal. However one of the promising restaurants was Currito Cantina. I am a sucker for Mexican food so I sat down for breakfast. One of the big negatives of this restaurant starting out is that they do not actually have any real half-and-half or milk to go with your coffee. You are left with a miserable non dairy creamer or skim milk. Really?!! However the breakfast burrito was pretty good as far as airport food goes. I would have it again. Tortilla oddly didn’t taste like a traditional tortilla it still managed to be ok.

On our way home we were in desperate need of breakfast in the Airport and needed something quick but, didn’t want fast food. This place only had a few people sitting there so we sat down and ordered our drinks and food at the same time. I ordered the breakfast quesadilla and it arrived piping hot and was a lot bigger than I anticipated. Of course it was $ 12.00 because it’s the airport and everything is overpriced. I would give it 3 stars because it was good but, there wasn’t any wow factor to it and it could have used some more cheese. The service overall wasn’t too bad but, it did take a bit to get a refill. The food came out fast and he was quick with the check out process since we only had twenty minutes before boarding.

If you find yourself in the Southwest Terminal at Newark Airport, you’ll see right away that there really are no choices when it comes to dining. Luckily Currito Cantina offers some pretty decent fare, especially for airport food. On a recent trip through Newark, I sat down at Currito Cantina and ordered their Ensalada Mixta with grilled chicken — a chopped salad with romaine lettuce, pico, salsa, black beans, bacon, cheese and guacamole served with a light and creamy lime dressing. It was fresh and very filling. It had the just the right balance of greens to proteins and the creamy indulgence of the guacamole and lime dressing completed what was a solid dish. Highly recommended. The only complaint I have is with their service. Very slow. Servers at airport restaurants usually try to keep things moving, recognizing the need for customers to make flights. Not so here. The servers seem to have a sort of lackadaisical attitude when it comes to service. I waited at least 15 minutes just to get a refill on my drink. I saw two other diners shake their heads in annoyance, trying to get their billed paid so they could board their flight. In short: Good food, bad service. IF you have the time, don’t hesitate to sit down at Currito Cantina. Enjoy!

Had some time between flights and was looking for a decent meal and a beer so I stopped in to the cantina. The cantina bowl is awesome, I tried it with carnitas but they have it with chicken as well. They were a little pricey, $ 11.49 for the bowl and $ 9.90 for a Sam Adams but that area is expensive and its in an airport so it’s fair. Would highly recommend this place for a meal.
