Don’t be turned off by the look of the place. Stumbled on to this place after leaving the place next door and we decided to give it a try. My boyfriend had a chicken gyro sandwich and I have a falafel sandwich. It came out to $ 21 and that included fries and a drink for each. The food was great!

Food is really good! You wouldn’t think that from just the appearance alone. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. Very nice people that work there as well.

I was surprised how delicious food was!!! It’s very small place and not for a romantic lunch, but the food is just great and fresh. I didn’t eat so delicious meet in my life. I will visit this place definitely when I’ll be around!

Note sure where the great reviews on Unilocal are coming from. The quality of food was not up to any standard of proper quality kebab. We order chicken, beef and lamb kebab. Except for beef which only decent the other 2 were simply not cooked correctly. The pricing on top was higher than most restaurants of this category. Something changed, not sure what.

I love this place! I’m just sad they changed the French fries): other than that this place is awesome! They are quick and their food is tasty and fresh

Are you kidding me??? It was across from the hotel and is in the top 3 of middle eastern places I’ve ever eaten. Combo plate with chicken and gyro sub rice for fries and extra pita. Perfect. The only thing I would add is an extra side of the beautifully balanced tzatziki/yogurt bidness. Don’t let the strip mall location fool you — this place rawks!!! The guys working couldn’t have been nicer.

Truly the best kabob I’ve ever had, bar none. The koobideh never fails to wow. I’ve brought many people and everybody comes back! Mind you all, I’m middle eastern so I’ve had PLENTY of kabob in my life lol

This place is pretty close to my work and I usually end up grabbing a meal from here. They do take phone orders, but even if I have to go personally, place my order and wait, it is all done in a jiffy. The meal comes with fries and a drink — the taste is fantastic and portions are HUGE to fill up up for $ 10. I always order the chicken wrap meal. Though the place doesn’t look very fancy, it can seat a decent number of people and is kept clean, with friendly people awaiting to help you out. Definitely recommend!

First time that I have been let down by Unilocal. After checking the awesome reviews, Mr and I were really excited to try this place. We reached there around 7:30pm. Though we were early for dinner time by Asian standards, the restaurant was empty! It is like a hole in the wall place. Nothing fancy– nor décor, service or food. The one star is for the staff– friendly, but again Indians cooking Persian food was a big turnoff. We were thinking of walking out, but not wanting to look rude we ordered a prince plate, gyro sandwich and hot wings with fries. The fries and hot wings came of a packet– Costco I bet. The prince plate consisted of 3 types of kebabs– chicken, kobideh, and lamb. The chicken was charred more than I liked. The kobideh was too salty. The lamb was the only decent kebab. It came with rice and a lame ass salad. We were so turned off by the food that we didn’t even venture to try the gyro sandwich. It’s now midnight. Starting to get hungry and building up the strength to try the gyro sandwich. Just don’t want to start the day with another bad experience. Life is tough!!!

The food lack taste, completely blunt. The salad had no dressings. They gave half pita(for a full plate out of 4 they gave 2 slices).

Really enjoy their food. The kabobs are freshly made, moist and well seasoned. I particularly like the fact that their lamb is not hard and chewy but soft and moist instead, not to forget delicious. Reasonably priced. Fairly sized portions. The yogurt sauce is amazing as well. They were closing when we arrived but they still took our orders and cooked for us. Great customer service. This is quickly becoming our fave middle eastern spot in the bay area! Will definitely be returning.

This place is not like it used to be. My bf and I have been coming here daily since they opened back in 2009. But now I wouldn’t even take a free plate from them. I actually used to compare their meat with De Afghanan but now it just sucks. Their meat is no longer fresh. It tastes sour and over seasoned with salt? The texture is very soggy, just very poor quality. They used to include fresh veggies with the side salad but now it’s just straight up lettuce leaves. Their tzaziki used to be fresh too and actually tasted like fresh cucumber sauce but now it’s like Ranch. Their basmati rice used to be my favorite part of the plate but now it’s just stale or drenched in oil. I’m glad their 2nd location has been shut down cause this place has just become a huge disappointment.

I’ve been here two times and I am glad to say that I am a new regular! First of all, the food here is amazing and is HUGE in portion! I’ve always gotten the combination plate(#3) which consists of lamb, chicken, rice, salad, and pita bread. It also contains hummus and Greek yogurt to complement the whole plate! For about $ 10, this is such a great deal! Every time I come in, the two gentlemen working are very accommodating and friendly! They took the time to make conversation and they are fun to talk to. Furthermore, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that is looking for their Mediterranean/kabob fix!

Tuesday is date night and we decided to go try somewhere new a little further away from our house. The restaurant is very small and the ice machine was broken. The water was disgusting so I suggest to buy a soda. It’s a order, pay and sit down restaurant but the person in charge was nice and friendly. The portion of the food is really big for the price. I ordered the combo plate which had chicken, lamb, and beef. The meats was so soft and had a lot of flavors. The meat like melts in your mouth. The price was also reasonable. I would probably come here again if I am ever in the area. I would recommend coming here.

When you first walk in its pretty small. Most tables sit 4 people and when i come here its never much of a big wait for food. The staff is super nice and have never messed up my order. I usually order the #1 Gyro Platter unfortunately i have no «real» pic but it was too good to wait. I always order to go and the portion size is enough to fill you up and then some. The selection of food varies from burgers to plates to kebabs. You can never go wrong picking saffron.

Found this on Unilocal and it did not disappoint. Easy to locate, right next to Central Computers near the Newpark Mall. A real hole in the wall — but these are the best kinds of restaurants! Short menu makes selection and ordering easy. About 4 to 5 tables that can seat about 6 people each(a bit tight). You order at the cashier and pay. They bring the food over or they will call you to come pick it up depending on how busy they are. They do a lot of takeout orders as well so the cash register can get busy! You can see the kababs cooking and I saw one of the cooks trimming a kabab with scissors before plating! Careful attention to detail :) I ordered a gyro platter that came with delicious gyro meat cooked perfectly and just a tab burnt at the edges which is exactly how I love it. Also comes with scented basmati rice with saffron, a pita cut into quarters and a fresh green salad with a Greek kind of yoghurt dressing. All very tasty and filling, for a total of $ 9.95 plus tax. Hot tea is on the house. ~ 4 stars for good food, friendly, courteous cashier and cooks — they walked out a few times to check on everyone and to ask if the food was good :) # 314

We were excited to visit our favorite Kabob place in Union City«Mr. Kabob» but it seemed like everyone else had the same idea, super crowded, so I Unilocaled another kabob place and this is what came up. The place is super duper small, not fancy or really that great inside but the reviews and the crowd inside told us to go ahead and order. We ordered the chicken kabob plate and the mixed beef and chicken plate… well $ 30 and 25 minutes later they came out with our food… it took soooo long. So if your starving call it in ahead of time. The food was okay, I wasn’t crazy about their tahini sauce… tasted like mayo to me… Overpriced and takes waaaay too long to get your food.

Quick search for food outside NewPark Mall lead us to Saffron Persian Grill which turned out to be a pretty decent surprise. The menu isn’t particularly intuitive though. The interior board omits numbers that may be advertised outside. And posters outside duplicate numbers that stand for other dishes inside, so you should double check the order before placing it. I mean, french fries versus basmati rice? That’s kind of a make or break difference. I ended up with the prince platter which I found very filling. All of the protein was seasoned well, but the chicken kabob pieces were a little dry. The beef definitely made up for it though. It was crisp and juicy and went well with the rice. All in all, it was a very filling and satisfying meal. Not one that I would venture way out for again, but still an option if I’m ever in the area again.
