What a beautiful location and the service was very good. Attentive and fast! While we thought we were going to a place where they prep the food in front of you, the food was picture perfect when delivered and delicious! Soo fresh! We were a group of 4 and while there were a few couples and 3somes easily accommodated– a large group also came in and were easily seated in another area so it didn’t overwhelm us other diners. Going back!

So we’ve been here three previous times. All were great experiences BUT unfortunately this time it was just not good. It was like they were asleep at the wheel that night. On their menu they have Rogue’s Sriracha Imperial Stout… it’s spicy, strong and goes wonderfully with Asian food… ANDTHEYWEREALLOUT! So with that, I was already pissed.(I actually went there for it too). Strike one against the management that night… it was too early in the evening for them to run out of something that is featured on the menu. Not to menti on they could have easily stocked upon it from Beer World on rt32IN new Windsor for cheap. There’s just no reason to run out. We ordered the special Rainbow Roll and 4 other basic rolls… all of which contained way too much avacado, stale tasting avacado… something was wrong with it. ANYWAY… a Rainbow Roll is supposed to basically be a California Roll(crab, cucumber, a little mayo topped with various pieces of Sashimi… but this was just piss poor. They used an insane amount of Avacado and the rest was CREAMCHEESE, no crab, WFT… it was like they had no idea how to make it. Perhaps they had a new sushi chef that night and he/she was terrible. When we sent it back the first time they actually inserted more freakin avacado after taking out the cream cheese… that should have never been there in the first place. The waiter all the while seemed to have no opinion on the matter. He was clueless as to what the menu said the rolls were supossed to contain. We’ll chalk it up to an off night… we’ll be back but perhaps not for a while. It’s time to look for a new sushi joint in town. Oh and PS… it’s 2015 get a baby changing counter for both of your bathrooms. Stop being cheap.

I’ve been to Yobo 5 or 6 times in the past couple years and each experience is great. The service is always attentive, polite, and friendly. The ambiance is very serene and it’s done very tastefully to look like a Japanese cherry tree garden with tea lights– one of the photos from the gallery will highlight that. Their biggest draw for me is the food. The sesame chicken or chow mien is a staple for my orders here. They have a lot of selection and I’ve yet to see anyone in my party dislike a single food item. Possibly the best Asian cuisine I’ve ever had. If I could give this place more stars I would.

I went to Yobo last week and had the Nutty Spicy Chicken. I was so impressed with this dish. Just the right proportions of nutty(walnuts and peanuts), spicy, veggies, and chicken. The chicken was cut into cubes which ordinarily makes it difficult to cook without drying it out but the benefit is that it’s easier to eat. Well, I have to say the chicken was moist and cooked to perfection. It was a 5 star dish.

I have been going to Yobo a few times a year for special occasions for as long as I can remember. The owner is on a first name basis with my family and we always enjoy sitting in a center table surrounded by all of the fountains and what not that people enjoy. Everyone seems to love their Thai spring rolls, and I enjoy lighting things on fire so the chicken kushiyaki is right up my alley. I have played around with my entrée choice, but the Korean bbq, hunan 6 stars(and other fresh noodle dishes) really are quality. The service here is always a bit off for me. I am not sure if it’s the separate waiters for beverage and food, but there always is something delayed or forgotten during our meal. Yobo gives little gifts on holidays and free glass of champagne or something like that, it’s a nice little touch on special days. Nice atmosphere, good food, and a typically good experience every time.

Amazing spring rolls, the décor makes you feel as if you are in Asia. With a wishing well that runs through the restaurant it truly is a gem. The coffee press at the end of the meal was the icing on the cake.

The can’t judge a book by its cover is here. From the outside the place looks run down and off the road. Inside it is spotless and very appealing. The food was phenomenal and the service very attentive. It was my wife’s birthday so we got the usual singing but the surprise was the digital picture that the took and printed for us. Unforgettable.

It’s apparent that nobody has ever been to Thailand or a Thai restaurant before. If you are looking for a hot can of $ 20 la choy Chinese mixed vegetables and white rice after waiting 60 minutes this is your place. The poor shrimp and scallops died a horrible death drowned in a brown ‘firecracker’ sauce. They gave their lives valiantly trying to save this dish. Maybe they were Thai warriors? Bow your heads in respect for their sacrifice in battle.

Yummy, yummy to the tummy! I want to give this place 5 stars but while the food was amazingly good it was borderline bland but not bland enough to say it was bad cause it wasn’t. I guess they error on the side of caution when it comes to the seasoning so considering they are striking a balance for the average customer its a great balance. I got the beef skewers for appetizer & I’ll admit I was like a child fascinated by the open flame provided to cook skewer further. Skewers were presented nicely but open fire was a great distracting bonus. Entrée portions were amazing, not over the top and not skimpy either. Average person will finish plate satisfied & those counting calories will leave with a small doggy bag. In my opinion portions were fair when comparing what you get for the price. My only complaint is soda portions are small but I didn’t ask for refill because I’m that calorie counting fool that doesn’t want to over indulge. Not sure if soda refills are free cause I didn’t need one. I definitely will be back!

Food wasnt bad. Everything was a little too sweet and the menu is too large. Big portions and decent prices but nothing to write home about. Staff was friendly.

Yobo is a solid choice for upscale East Asian cuisine. It’s less classy now than it used to be — you can now show up dressed however you want and prices are more reasonable — but it’s still a good place. The interior borders slightly on cheesy-looking and shows its age in spots, but it’s appropriate and contributes to a good atmosphere. Staff is decent. Food is tasty and moderately priced. Alcohol is fine, although I’ve never gone for the mixed drinks. I don’t have any actual complaints. It’s just that Yobo isn’t my absolute favorite sushi place in the Newburgh area, and it’s changed a bit over the years. Whether or not that change is good… it’s up to you. There are positive and negative aspects to the changes, but the food is still good and newcomers will enjoy Yobo. If you’re not worried much about prices, I’d definitely recommend this as a place to eat.

this is a heartbreaker to review. it used to be we had to dress up in your nicest to go out to dinner here and now tshirt and jeans will just do. goes to show how far the standard of this place has fallen. been going here since ’91 and the experience was like nothing in the area; the hostess/owner would be dressed up in all her finery and would welcome you(knew my parents by name) it really felt like you were stepping in to something special. the food used to be the last word in asian cuisine in this area. as a matter of fact it was the to go place for any special occasion; you went to yobo went it was time to celebrate, impress or propose. sadly the food has come down as well as the ambiance. no more water works inside, the sparkling happy birthday treat is gone as well. the service is about all that really holds this place together. you have a small army of staff slinging drinks, cleaning up the tables and checking up on the food more than often. the menu itself seems to have gotten smaller and has lost some of its luster. if you’re a newbie id go with the yobo tidbits and the spring roll is still the best in the area; you must try it. i tried the fried rice and the bibim bap which wasn’t too bad, the rice was still pretty good. the hot a sour soup was a pretty generous serving but wasn’t as spicy as im used to but i tihnk it held its own. I guess in all fairness I shouldnt rate on old memories; so i’ll give it another shot and review accordingly.

OMG. This place was so good. The egg rolls are to die for. I got the pork crepes and the portions were huge! They had edamame, garlic and pepper special on the menu. Everything was delicious. They even gave us plum wine at the end, on the house. Thank you for introducing me to such great food!

This is hands down our favorite place to go when we are in the Newburgh area. Large menu, fresh sushi, good drinks, excellent service. It isn’t an inexpensive meal, but you certainly get a lot for your bucks. We’ve been going here for at least 10 years and have never had a bad meal or bad experience. I also get the sushi deluxe and my friend gets the sushi with tempura. Both have great variety and are so delicious. Love you Yobo.

Yobo is a pleasantly-decorated restaurant with an attentive, friendly staff. As vegetarians, we found the menu to have enough variety to more than satisfy us. The food seemed fresh, was very tasty, and nicely presented. Maybe a tad too salty. Maybe a tad expensive. Definitely a good experience. Since this was our anniversary, we splurged on a couple sinful and delicious desserts.

Salt Lick City. Overpriced, low quality food. Facilities are dirty, showing signs of wear & tear. Thick layer of dust on the decorative banner hanging over our table. We should have run when the mai tais arrived, in a bizarre shade of red, indicating an incorrect mix. Don’t make the same mistake, avoid at all costs!

Yobo provides a wonderful blend of culture and cuisine in a town where you might not expect it. Stepping into Yobo, you are immediately immersed in the décor, ambiance, and eventually, the food. Yobo’s best attribute is its artistic style of plating food. As some other Unilocalers have mentioned, it’s magazine worthy. However, plating alone isn’t enough to keep customers coming back. I’ve been coming here for several years, and all their cooked dishes and sushi have been fantastic. The sesame chicken is a standout for me, featuring all white meat and a sauce that is thicker than molasses, which is a good thing. Their crunchy spicy tuna maki, and salad dressing are also worth returning for. My last dining experience here 12÷15÷13 was somewhat sub-par compared to times before, namely in the quality of the fish. Perhaps it was a bad day at the fish market, or just an «off» day, but the sushi was below-average. Based off all my other experiences I will return, and order the sushi, however if the quality was similar to my last outing, I’m afraid I may have to look elsewhere. For me, I go here for the sushi, and all the other dishes are a welcome surprise. Lastly, and I do have to mention it, the restrooms need updating. Normally, I wouldn’t mind whether my commode is indoor, outdoor, maintained or not, but in a high-quality restaurant like Yobo is, and claims to be, bathrooms matter. These, need updating. Overall, Yobo is great. Service, ambiance, pricing, and taste for me is all above average. Let’s just hope it stays that way for years to come.
