The person that works here, who I’m assuming is the owner, is a disgrace to the human race. I haven’t felt so offended and saddened by a humans actions since my encounter with racism when I was 16, ten years ago. I will not be going back.

Stopped in to purchase lunch after whale watching trip. Sandwich was good and they use Boars Head meat which is a plus. Pricing seemed in line with other sandwich spots… I will be back.

One of the few places that you can grab emergency supplies from near the pier. Cereal, milk, eggs, bread, even beer or cigarettes. It’s not cheap, but neither is land here. Everyone has to pay their bills. To the other reviewers: If you can’t afford the prices, then take a drive somewhere else, but don’t blame them for providing a much-needed and popular service. Staff is friendly and helpful. Very much a local spot, but they also sell firewood for the fire rings! Hurrah!

Best in service, food quality, beer and wine selections, and overall quality of interior design. This store deserves a 5 star. Ignore the 1 star reviews(those 1 star reviews are from low paid dumb trashes who can’t even pay for their cars being towed. And they don’t even know what the parking regulations are because they are ignorant slobs. The parking is for customers only and there are signs to show it people! Those 1 stars are from dumbasses who can’t afford there own mistakes and complain about others who are doing their day when they themselves are the problem). Good job with the store and keep up the good work :)

I wish I could give less then one star. The owners here discriminate against disabled patrons and harassed me about my parking in their lot even with my disabled placard clearly displayed. While being harassed by an employee I showed him the law on the California DMV website and they still threatened my vehicle if I didn’t move it. This is After I bought some groceries here and while leaving the store another couple pulled In to the parking lot and had the same issue with the employee about being disabled. I’ve never felt so poorly treated by people I gave my hard earned money too. I won’t shop here again!

The owners discriminate against disabled people. They are not welcoming or friendly. They obviously pay a lot for their location next to the Fun Zone and you would think they would want customers to patronize their store, but they don’t deserve your business!

Prices are quite hefty, but other than that, it’s the go to spot for this end of the peninsula. The deli in the back produces some tasty sandwiches, but again, slightly steep in price. I usually come here for the late night munchies snacks like cookies and Ben and Jerry’s ;)

This place is incredibly over-priced. I believe they don’t place prices on anything for this reason. I was living close by and was in desperate need for milk and cereal for the morning. I kid you not, it was nearly $ 15, and it was quite ridiculous. They charge $ 3 if you want to take out of their ATM and have a $ 5 limit on purchasing with a debit card. I understand the charge for using the ATM but I feel $ 3 is extreme. I’m sure they think they can con tourists out of their money and assume if you’re living in the Balboa area you can afford these things but there are a lot of college students/post grads who rent the beach houses during the fall and spring when the prices drop. The staff is friendly but it doesn’t make up for the high prices. The only reason why I keep going back is for convenience of location. *Since posting this, Armit S. on Unilocal contacted me to tell me I’m an idiot for writing how I feel about this location and goes on to be vocal about how people who vote one star are dumbasses in his own review: «Those 1 stars are from dumbasses who can’t afford there own mistakes and complain about others who are doing their day when they themselves are the problem).» This doesn’t make sense to me at all. I can’t afford my own mistakes apparently(whatever these may be) and apparently I am a problem. I have a feeling this person knows the family who owns the business(a family I’ve never had a personal issue with) and likes to make excuses for their high prices. This only makes their business look worse when someone takes the time to contact you and call you an idiot. Negativity and then mentioning a location is never good marketing.

Does not value business with customers, horrible service and allows random people ahead of you even if you’ve been waiting for a while.

If you’re from out of town and you’re visiting the area beware of this parking lot! Regardless if your a paying customer or not, don’t dare to leave you car parked for more than and hour or else it’ll be shipped off to the owners personal tow spot! Even though the entire area has 2 hr parking, but these owners pridefully call their personal towing company to come drag paying customers cars away without warning. Clearly these people don’t appreciate tourists and would rather leave their customers stranded and get charged with a fat towing fee. I will never return to this low end liquor store to buy a single item or park in that area to shop again after the despicable and mocking treatment of the cocky owner who admittedly calls on all of her paying customers who stay to long in her lot! Save your money and go to another convenience store. These people are hateful and way too comfortable with ruining someone’s day with a smile on their face!

This is the closest food/liquor store to my house so I’ve been here fairly often. The prices are a little steep, but I guess that’s expected on the peninsula, especially without competition nearby. The people are usually friendly, but not aways professional. Previously, I’ve had to wait for the person at checkout to finish a personal cellphone conversation. Sometimes they are too wrapped up in their paperwork to help their customers. I would rate this place much higher if it wasn’t for that awful owner. He is so rude that I always think twice before going there. If I’m out on a long walk, I’ll stop in for something small because they’re the only ones around. But I keep an eye out for his car and avoid going in when he’s around. My advice to the owner: Stay away from your store when customers are present. Reading these reviews, I am confident you are costing yourself business. If you come by during business hours, just stay quiet and let your nice employees handle everything.

This is my spot to hit every time I come down to Balboa pier, a one stop shop for snacks, sandwiches, & libations. The main attraction here are there bountiful sandwiches made with the top-tier meats & cheeses, so I know I’m in good hands. First look at the menu and you can easily tell you cannot go wrong, I haven’t so far. They give you heaping helpings of protein in every sandwich, so you get your moneys worth. –Pier Shot: Turkey, Bacon, Avocado. Need I say more? — The Wedge: Italian lovers rejoice! I wish they just offered the meats on a platter with a glass of wine on the side. Hahah –The Fun Zone: #1 so far, a classic deli favorite dripping in it’s own juices. So if you ever feel like having a bite to eat on the beach, stop by and pick up a sandwich plus a few other«provisions» you’ll need to enjoy by the water.

Came to have a picnic lunch at Peninsula Park near the end of the peninsula and found this place to grab some sandwiches. It’s really close and within walking distance to the park. There are plenty of special sandwich options and a variety of breads and cheeses. Got a turkey, avocado, and provolone and it was exactly what I was looking for. Just a classic sandwich place that really hit the spot. They also have a nice selection of beers and drinks too. I would recommend this place and come back next time I’m in the area.

I had the Fun Zone(pastrami sandwich), and my boy had the Wedge(italian meats, tomato, lettuce). The pastrami and the italian meats were delicious and high quality. Thank you for using Boar’s Head meats! The bread on the Wedge(sourdough) left something to be desired, however. Next time, I think we will go for the rye. Solid sandwiches in terms of taste. They were a bit small, though, especially for $ 8 each. Maybe I’m just a fatty :-)

When I feel like a tasty sandwich Bal Harbor is where I take a quick stop. Get the The Fun Zone. Soaked Pastrami on a baguette with mustard, pickles and provolone — no extra au jus needed it’s plenty juicy

Hey vegetarians — no veggie sandwich options here. Be prepared to get creative and ask them to make you something custom made. And this place is pricey, around 7.99 per sandwich from what I can recall. Boyfriend got the tuna salad sandwich and said it tasted«off.» Nothing to write home about…

Our business had Happy’s Longboard Deli(the deli inside Bal Harbor Liquor) cater a variety tray of sandwiches. They tasted great and even the condiments supplied were of high quality. Can’t wait to go there in person. FYI — Phone # for deli is 949−675−6864.

BELLOFBALBOA! This has to be the nicest liquor store/deli on the peninsula! Honestly! They’ve just remodeled the store a few months back to include new fridges and a great deli section featuring Boar’s Head products! SWEET! The have sandwiches, hot dogs, fresh cheesecake and much more in the deli section! They use local bakeries such as Cesi Bön for their sandwich bread! The service is great! Always greeted with a smile! They have a wonderful beer and alcohol section! A great big parking lot which is important on the peninsula! The place is clean and well kept! You can’t go wrong! –Flat Tire or a Tall can?– –Great fresh products! –Clean store and parking lot! –Service with a smile *B
