Have been looking forward to trying this pizza since I saw the delivery guy where I live. Big disappointment. I was born in Brooklyn and lived in Queens until moving out west at 14 years old. But I grew up going to Joes Pizza in the neighborhood. I love and know NY style Pizza. Many places say NY Pizza and its not even close but Johnny’s is NY style for sure. Problem is everything else. Yeah the price kinda rocked me, over $ 22 for a large cheese but Pizzas kinda expensive everywhere and his place sits on some pricey real estate so no prob… if it was a great pizza. I’d call it pretty good(which isn’t even fully good). Biggest problem is NOTASTE. I relaxed and focused on my beloved pizza on my pallette and there was nothing no flavor. Dough should be a combo of doughy and slightly crispy. This was all crisp. The cheese didn’t string out like the pizza in NY does and had no flavor. The sauce again zero flavor. I had high hopes but I’m better off this way. I’m tryin to lose weight and I won’t be running down there every few days. It’ll be awhile before I try it again. Bummer.

This is my 2nd time eating here. The pizza is good(Not great), but still good. I got take out today for the spaghetti, WHAT A RIPOFF! I got it home and opened it up, there were two of the smallest meatballs I have ever seen. The sauce was watery, but the worst part, they charge $ 12.95 for this $ 8.95 meal. I would order the pizza again, the pasta is an absolute rip off!

One word… Disappointment! Crust was cardboard and sauce had no flavor. Over $ 20 for 1 large pizza… don’t waste your time.

2 slices of pizza and a fountain soda $ 8.25 after tax for their lunch special. The slices are huge. Pizza was decent but nothing to be wowed about. Only downside is you’re limited to just cheese and pepperoni. I do like the fact that they have tvs everywhere.

Wings were soooooo good. Pizza was good too. Meatballs were not good and dry on the spaghetti. I like it a lot overall but please do something about your Meatballs they are very bad, doesn’t go with the overall quality. Cheers

Delicious food and amazing customer service. I love the theme and style and everyone seems to enjoy working here. Everything is clean and organized, the tvs have excellent quality and always playing sports. I love the location as well. Truly some quality New York style pizza and they’re definitely going to see us again. I’ll tell everyone about it!

I eat here at least once a week. 2 slices and a sofa. Always good. As close as you will get to ny style.

When the manager is here they will allow you to customize a slice of pizza, otherwise good luck. What does it take to order a slice of cheese and charge me for olives and mushrooms and pop it in the oven for a few seconds? Lost my business.

$ 35 for a medium pizza with two drinks and mozzarella sticks??? No thanks! The pizza was half pepperoni and cheese. Bland sauce and bland overall flavor. The crust/dough was not good either. Not even close to authentic NY pizza. Oh yeah, $ 4 for a Mexican Coke. Never again!

Stops taking orders for delivery 1 hour before close. Website does not reference until after you place an order and you get message suggesting to place order for next day. When you call, they let you know they do not take delivery orders unless over an hour before close. Customer Service at it’s finest. Oh, and they may update that on there website at some point he said.

This is actually one of the few places that we’ve been to in Orange County that has a traditional New York style pizza. We’ve enjoyed it the several times that we have been here and usually get one of the lunch specials. The house salad is very tasty and includes meat and cheese and the meatball sandwich has great flavors and is nicely toasted. Just beware that you’ll end up eating it with a knife and fork most likely. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. There’s ample seating inside and a nice outdoor seating area. The surrounding eateries like Chipotle and Pei Wei attract the biggest crowds so this location doesn’t seem too busy. If you’re looking for something that will kind of remind you of the pizza you had in New York this is not a bad place. Nice crust and easily foldable. We’ve never been disappointed here.

Overly expensive mediocre pizza :/… Tasted alright but for a 15 dollar«the empire» pizza is a disappointment for a 12 inch pizza… Little caesars out classes this pizza I’m more ways than once. The pizza is relatively think and lacking any artisan quality.

We tried Johnnys tonight for dinner and we were very unimpressed. 1. We were nickel and dimed for EVERYTHING– from the dressing on my salad(I always thought that dressing came on a salad) To the sauce that he offered for my Garlic knots. 2. The house salad was disgusting, all of the veggies tasted like metal as if they were straight out of the can and the lettuce was wilted. 3. The pizza had barely any cheese on it and the toppings(which were $ 2 a piece) were sparse. Overall, I don’t think that I will ever return to this location, i do not know if it was just a bad experience or if this is how the pizza and salads always are.

Johnny’s Real New York Pizza is a decent place to grab a pie in the Bluffs area of Newport Beach. Newport Beach is hardly a mecca for Pizza pies. In fact we have Mozza. And, that is really about it. Luckily Johnny Younesi, a New York transplant who now resides in Newport Beach realized this and set out to do something about it. This is one of 3 locations in the Newport/Irvine area and happens to be very close to my office, so it was just a matter of time before we ordered it for the home team. I tried a pair of slices of the Cheese pie that Johnny’s dubs as «The Best in the City» and must admit that they have a real deal pie. It is the garlic & basil laden marinara sauce that shines through in the flavor profile, a delightful combination bite for bite. Crust Nazi’s may balk a bit at the somewhat pronounced doughy/chewiness of the delivery mechanism but that would be a muted complaint considering we are 3000+ miles away from NYC. The cheese was perfectly fresh and complimented the rest of the ingredients well and I will admit that I was impressed with the overall product. Johnny’s is a decent value as well. A 20 inch Pizza comes in at just under $ 20.00 and should be plenty to feed four. Considering the local options in Pizza I imagine Johnny’s will do quite well with their offerings and I certainly look forward to my next slice.

NY style isn’t my favorite but I still know good pizza when I have it and Jonny’s is not good. On a scale of 1 – 10 this place boils down to two factors: Taste: 4 — is okay/tolerable, skimpy on the toppings Crust: 1 — as close to cardboard as baked dough could ever get… not soft, not crunchy, just thing, tough, and unappetizing

Decent pizza. Great service. Located in a really busy shopping, watch out for the idiot drivers. We shared a 12″ cheese pizza with half pepperoni, half sausage, and an order of garlic knots. Garlic knots were awesome. Garlicky, cheesy, salty goodness. Pizza was thin crust with not too sweet sauce, good amount of cheese and toppings.

I found the pizza here to be lackluster and lacking in robustness and flavor. I ordered a slice of Andolini at the Newport Beach location. After ordering a slice at the counter, they pulled a slice out of a cardboard box that was stacked against the wall and heated it up in the oven. The crust was dull and dry. The cheese and toppings were unmemorable and lacking in flavor. The employees here are inattentive and could care less about customer service.

Walking into Johnny’s, you’ll notice the cultural influences from Sicily and New York. The interior is branded with reds, whites, and greens. Everything about it yells«pizza.» I couldn’t wait to dig in. Before introducing us to the pizza, we started the night with a hearty round of appetizers. Big C’s Best Eva Garlic Knots(hot, buttery, and packed with garlicky goodness), Johnny’s Hot Wings(spicy and juicy), Sicilian Style Fries(I bet you can’t eat one. I had a hard time avoiding these), New York Style French Fries, Johnny’s Famous House Salad(a mix of everything Johnny loves in salad), and Authentic Italian Mozzarella Sticks(Mmm, you could tell these were fresh and not frozen. They were breaded perfectly and oozing with cheese). After having our fill of appetizers and pacing ourselves in anticipation of the pizza, the first pizza came out to many ooh and aahs. The pizza is guaranteed authentic due to how it’s processed and made. Johnny’s uses a preeminent water purification process that allows the pizzeria to filter out the harder water chemicals that exist in California water(such as chloride) and transform the water into a softer water that tastes like the kind you find in New York(recognized as the highest quality tap water!). Wow. If that isn’t real, I don’t know what is. The one of a kind dough and the water process is transparent in the pizza. While it’s not exactly thin like most pizzas in New York, the quality and freshness is there and the big slices are meant to be folded over and enjoyed. Thinking I could hardly eat anymore, the penne bolognese arrived at our table. I told myself to try«only a bite» but after hearing about the 100 year old family recipe, I dug in and found it hard to resist much like everything else. The evening ended, like every grand meal should, with a dessert. Mmm. Our table was salivating around these beauties — cinnamon knots served with a wonderful glaze. Much like everything else that evening, we found it hard to stop at just one and left absolutely stuffed and couldn’t wait to come back.
