Had to come check it out with all the great reviews. Service was 5 star and the food is very good! Try the sandwiches you will love them. I usually don’t give 5 stars but this spot nailed it all down. Great job guys!

Second time here this month. Spicy hawaiian bbq pizza and and jamaican jerk chicken. Both super great. The hawaiian sticky bun dessert is a must order.

This was my first time trying Beach Barrel and I loved it! I came with a big group and we ordered practically everything: their Buffalo Chicken Pizza, BBQ Bacon Dog, Barrel Burger, Ultimate grilled cheese, and garlic fries. It was all great. Everything had a unique spin and was very fresh. Everyone needs to try their Hawiian Sticky Buns!

Free, & plentiful parking. 10% off when you check-in with Unilocal. And, they stayed open a few extra minutes for us. I really wish I could give this restaurant a 5-star review! We stopped here on our way to balboa pier, to get dinner. My husband ordered the Playa Cubano, & some specialty fries. Both of them were pretty tasty. My kids ordered a pepperoni pizza, & hot dogs. All of which were devoured with gusto! I ordered the Ultimate Grilled Cheese, & was eagerly anticipating the Cali-fresh/comfort-food combo… It fell flatter than a panini! The grilled cheese was WAY too salty. Like, inedibly salty!!! The Feta AND parm cheeses did not work well together. And the sandwich was dry, dry, dry. I was sad. Like I said, I really wanted to give this place rave reviews! But I just can’t do it.

Freakin’ legit! Good, friendly service. House salad w/pomegranate vinaigrette was big enough for 2,(or 3 or 4). Barrel burger was so tasty and the grilled bell pepper added so much flavor. Garlic herb fries and two diet cokes. Yum city! Also, super clean bathroom which is a major bonus.

The place has a nice menu. Burger was average, nice bun but the meat was too dense. Maybe they packed it too Much.$ 11 The da line chicken was really good. Great flavors $ 12 Garlic fries are ho hum, $ 5. The food is a 4 star but the prices for what you get are on the high side. 11 dollar burger should really be better than what it is. Fries are way over priced. I’d suggest to get a different type of fry to hold the garlic better. Maybe a Krinkle cut.

Sooo this was our first time visiting & we weren’t disappointed!!! I can embarrassingly admit to you Unilocalers all the food we tried because as foodies this is a safe place. Hehehe BBQ chicken pizza– Amazing with a little kick; it’s nice to actually be able to taste the chicken on the pizza unlike other places. Garlic cheese bread — delicious Grilled romaine salad was also amazing!!! Bbq Bacon cheese Dog was one of my favorites. which is hard to say because everything was great! Dessert disappeared fast!!! I’m not sure how we had room for it but like I said above Safe Place… no judgement. Hahaha needless to say we’ll be back soon. Oh & on a side note… great friendly staff & easy parking on side of building. Pss: garlic fries were great too!

I just had the best sandwich in YEARS, you need to try DaKine tri tip sandwich. If you like garlic they have the bomb garlic herb fries.

Since my co-worker and I were so barreled with hunger, we decided to venture down Newport Blvd to the Beach Barrel. The vibe of the place when we walked in was welcoming, and the delicious smell of some Tri-Tip was getting to me. Once greeted by a very energetic staff, we both decided to order the same thing of the Tri Tip sandwich which was so delicately placed inside a full bun with bacon, provolone and awesome sauce… literally awesome sauce(maybe sriracha and mayo? not sure) The sandwich was very tasty, but messy. I went with a combo, so it came with a side salad, which in my case was completely covered in red onions like there was no end. I appreciated the over-onions, but not that much in love with it. I failed to mention it to the staff, but I got over it. The inside area is clean and roomy, and I couldn’t help being mesmerized by the fully decorated seating tables bedazzled by pennies. Cool touch guys! Perks: Decent portions for the $$. Menu is inviting to try other sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and more. Catering is available and local delivery. KNOW before you GO: Hours may vary. We tried to go there for lunch on a Monday and they were closed, however on Friday around 1pm, they were open. Be sure to check the deets on operation. OverALL: A-OK. A hit or miss, but a barrel of fun for a quick filling lunch. Worth a try!

Ordered the Tri-Tip and Shrooms sandwich and found it to be quite delicious. We also ordered a side of french fries which were excellent as well. The restaurant is undergoing a renovation and the sidewalk was torn up outside but the food was very good.

At first, the humble beach barrel showed great hospitality. The pepperoni and sausage pizza was cheese-tastic. For first timers, do try to get advice on orders because they have a large variety of sandwiches to choose from. Finishing with an orgasmic Hawaiian sticky, the sweet lip sticking vanilla ice cream topped with warm caramel and lite oaky pecan overpowering the sweet Hawaiian bun but the like a sponge the buns keep the favor of that special ice cream sandwich I once had a kid. Overall it was overflowing full of «AHHHHhhhh!!!»

Another great experience here at The Beach Barrel. Decided to give the pizza a try this time, since it always looks and sounds good. So, I built my own. The typical toppings; pineapple, pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and jalapeños. All I have to say is WOW! The flavors of the pizza blended so well and the flavor was amazing. I believe it was their 1 year anniversary, so the owner was nice enough to offer their chorizo chili cheese fries for my boyfriend and I to try. I think I might become a regular here, since I’m here every Saturday. Keep it up, and congratulations to the 1 year!

Yummy food nice burgers and had a good refreshment lemonade. Was interesting the service from the waiter but overall had a good meal. Not too large space to walk around, although the fries were some yummy ones.

Food was amazing. Came here for lunch on a whim and definitely plan on coming back. I ordered some sort of steak sliders and my friend got the chicken pesto sandwich. Both were delish and I’m looking forward to trying out the rest of the menu.

The owner is really nice and welcoming! I ordered the Playa Cubano and my boyfriend had the Da-Kine Tri Tip. We traded sandwich halves with each other so we could taste more of the menu. Usually, I would have picked a «favorite,» but I will honestly say that both were equally delicious. We really enjoyed our food! :D If we ever find ourselves in Newport again, we’re coming back to try more of their menu.

Omg the Street Dog was bomb! Def the best thing we tried here. It’s sloppy and delicious.(Perfect if you’re hungover) My bf and I also got the playa cubano and the bbq chicken flatbread. Altogether, we got way too much food! I could have done without the cubano. Everything was tasty but I think the street dog and flatbread were slightly better then the cubano sandwich. We will be back!

I came here after cycling to the beach and being one of the few places that open late I decided to try it out. You will probably pass by at least at few other pizzerias to get to this one but what will make you come back for sure was the BBQ chicken pizza! I tried it and it was Ah(freaken)mazing!!! There was so much favor and it was incredible balanced. It has to be the best bbq chicken pizza I’ve tried so far. The workers as well as the owner/manager person were really friendly as well. Me and my friend also tried the jerk chicken pizza and it was okay. It’s not a popular item and I can see why. I will definitely come back and try some other items like the Cuban pulled pork. They’re open until 3am on weekends which is awesome!

I started with the BBQ chicken flat bread which is house made sriracha BBQ sauce, shredded chicken, apple wood bacon, mozzarella cheese, red onion and cilantro. The flat bread was crisp while the BBQ sauce brought a spice to the party, but it wasn’t so spicy that your taste bud are screaming for water. The chicken was tender and the cheese was stringy, melted goodness. This was definitely a good BBQ chicken flat bread and I really liked the heat from the BBQ sauce. Next I dove into the sammy I came for, the Playa Cubano. This sandwich is citrus glazed pork, smoked ham, Swiss cheese, house made pickles and dijonaise which is all placed on french bread that is then grill pressed. My first bite was such a burst of flavors. The citrus from pork comes through first and comes on heavy. Then the sour pickles and the tart dijonaise kick in and balance everything out. The pork it self was moist and tender. I could not contain the juices running down my hand from this sandwich. I can easily say this is by far one of the best three Cuban sandwiches I have had to date. The street dog was next in my sights. This is a ¼ pound all beef dog that is then covered in apple wood bacon, caramelized onions, and grilled jalapenos. Then come in with mayo, mustard and a mix of chedder and mozzarella cheese. This is not my typical choice for dogs but I was diggin’ this dog. The crunchy bacon, spicy jalapenos and creamy toppings all blended well together and made an awesome bite of food. My only suggestion to make this better would be that they should look into getting a different type of dog, something with a natural casing to give you a snap with each bite. Burger time! This is the only burger Beach Barrel does and they do it well. This seasoned beef patty is loaded with grilled bell peppers, Romaine lettuce, tomato, red onions, avocado, house made thousand island dressing and cheddar cheese. This is all stuffed between a toasted brioche bun. The beef patty was luscious, the bell peppers where soft and the lettuce was crisp. The avocado added a velvety consistency that helped to cut some of the richness from the beef. The other thing I noticed is that the bun was toasted perfectly, just enough to add some bite to the bun but not enough to kill the roof of your mouth. Lastly I finished with the Hawaiian sticky buns and scoop of ice cream. These were your standard Hawaiian buns but done up like you have never had before. The buns are layered with marshmallows and smothered in the homemade pecan caramel sauce. The bun is toastey on the outside and stays soft on the inside. The caramel sauce is gooey and sweet with the ice cream adding a coldness to each bite. If you follow food trends Hawaiian buns have been used in a myriad of ways. I must say this is by far the best way I have seen them used. The sweet buns are complimented perfectly with the rest of the ingredients. The Beach Barrel is a bit of drive for me to visit all the time but what I do know is that I will be back for that Playa Cubano sandwich. For me this sandwich was the highlight of my visit. Everything I tried was excellent and I had zero complaints. The Beach Barrel chefs know what they are doing and they do it well. I can easily recommend The Beach Barrel and suggest you take the time to check them out. Make sure to visit the website because if you are within the delivery range you can get all this awesomeness delivered right to your door!

My friends and I went down this last Sunday and after looking at the menu decided we would sample as many things as we could. List of food eaten: Tower 32 = It was good but I am not a olive fan Cow-A-Bunga — amazing their tri-tip is off the hook Buff Chick — tasty and spicy but not hot Cheese Flatbread — cheesy goodness Tri-Tip & Shrooms — juicy Jerk Chicken Sandwich — the best thing I had The Street Dog — great BBQ Bacon Cheddar Dog — second best thing I had Hawaiian Sticky Buns w/Ice Cream — I almost ate the whole thing myself eat this if you still have room We split all this between 3 people and grubbed down. Everything here is off the chain. From what I learned almost everything they make is from scratch and done extremely well. Especially the sauces when trying any of them it is immediately evident that they did not come from a jug/can. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich is definitely where it is at. By far the best thing I had that day. The chicken was juicy and plentiful. The onions and bell peppers were caramelized but with a nice crunch to them. The pineapple was grilled and it added and a nice sweetness to the sandwich The toasted brioche bun absorbed the drippings and brought the whole thing together. The BBQ Bacon Cheddar dog was also amazing. The bacon was nice and crunchy and the hot dog was grilled to make the perfect little snap when the skin breaks when you bite into it. The cheese was good but the homemade BBQ sauce puts it over the top. This is a solid hot dog not what I would call fancy but because the individual ingredients where prepared so well. The whole thing put together was infinitely better that just about any other bacon dog I have ever had. This is a place everyone should try. We even where telling people who were stopping to look at the menu to come in and eat. They where all very happy with the food. I recommend if you are going with a group to do what we did and just split up a bunch of different items you will NOT be disappointed.
