Best Italian food in town! We visit Sal’s regularly for casual pizza, family events or for bigger more formal events too. They have a large back room for bigger parties. The service is always great and the food is always amazing. Some of our favorites include the Italian sub, smoked chicken ravioli, vegetarian lasagna, calamari, baked ziti, and of course, their pizza. Sal’s does not disappoint!

I have not ordered anything from here that hasn’t been absolutely delicious and amazing. Order any pizza kind of pizza by the slice! Tried the jalapeño poppers today and they are to die for. Fast and friendly service! Reasonable pricing with lunch specials.

Great dinner at Sals after moving ourselves into our new apartment in the snow. We enjoyed a cheese pizza, chicken parm, and lasagne. The beer deals are really good. An enjoyable meal adter two really long days.

No Doubt the best NY Pizza in the area. Had this catered twice and was impressed enough I went and tried it in store. I’m picky about NY pizza, this is right up there at the top of my list. Hawaiian pizza is usually an abomination. Their version is very good. Have not had a pie I didn’t like from this place.

I always get their Greek pizza, it’s heavenly. They put tons of toppings on it, and they have affordable daily specials. Good location, super friendly staff and great food!

I have been more than one time and the experience was good on each occasion. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. I went through today during lunch with limited time but the service was fast. My server Courtney was attentive and so friendly. She is good for the business.

First time eating here and the pizza is pretty good. Crust was nice and chewy, the sauce tasted good but I wish they had put more on the pizza. They kind of skimped on the toppings, too. I would eat here again but probably wouldn’t go out of my way for it. Definitely better than Pizza Hut/​Dominos but not quite as good as Dino’s.

We have eaten at Sal’s several times and it’s safe to say they are the best pizza on the peninsula. The guys cooking in the back are always friendly and seem to like what they’re doing. The cashier on 30 Apr leaves something to be desired. She would be the sole reason why we would not return buy fortunately we understand a bad day so it will excused. If you are in the area and you want pizza, eat at Sal’s

Perhaps not to the super authentic level of the now closed Luigis but certainly a tier or two above most other places in the area. My food was hot and the quality/​taste was good to very good. You would be surpirsed and how many places cannot do both of those things these days! Only gripe was I wish the sauce for the pizza had a tad more flavor/​spice but the cheese and crust was spot on. Heated subs are also very good. Service was friendly and attentive on my visit. Overall, good addition to city center area that has alot of so-​so restaurants.

I’m not sure what they are famous for or what part of NY the pizza is suppose to be like, but we weren’t impressed. For us it was what we call a one — one time. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t worth going out of our way for.
Pepperoni pizza was fair. Ice tea was weak. Hubby’s soda was okay. Lacking atmosphere. Okay for a group of younger people.

You know, it has such a high rating that I decided to give it a try… as it turns out I would have better off with, well, anywhere. The garlic knots had almost no garlic taste to them and the garlic bread was awful. These are simple staple appetizers. The marina dipping sauce tasted almost tangy like off brand tomato sauce in a can. I had a pepperoni pizza. Nice simple pizza. Except that it was bland, the sauce, the cheese… honestly couldn’t believe how unimpressive it was. If anything was redeeming it was our server, Lexi. She was very kind, and did a great job with refills et am. Unfortunately though the food just sucked. $ 40 I wish I hadn’t spent, a mistake I won’t make again.

Last night we took friends with three children under six years old for a pizza dinner. We called first to see if they were open and were warmly greeted. Once entering, the hostess was wonderful. The dinner was outstanding — real New York pizza where the cheese almost slid off the pizza. The cheese pizza for the kids was gobbled up quickly. The speciality pizza for the adults was as good as it gets — great ingredients cooked just right. The staff was outstanding. I tried to pay for dinner and the younger associate tried to use his credit card instead. The management credited his card and charged mine as per my directions. The staff works very well with young children and older adults as well. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting a good meal at a good price with great service for dining in or take out. A real charmer.

Amazing pizza! Best next thing to actually being in NY. I have been searching for great pizza in the Newport News area for years. This place has my utmost respect! Crust is perfect, the size is overwhelming and the amount of toppings are perfect!

New York style pizza done well. Ordered a supreme pizza and bacon cheese fries and while the fries disappointed the pizza did not. First the fries were chewey and overcooked. Didn’t like the pizza cheese on the fries but it was the consistency of the fries that ruined them. But the most important thing to review here is the pizza. It is pretty close to really good new york pizza and I mean that as a high compliment. Good crust. crisp. Loaded toppings. I’ll eat here again.
