Decided to take a friends suggestion and stop in for a beverage before heading home. Sat at the bar was not acknowledge for quite some time. Dirty dishes were removed but the bar was never wiped down, female bartender never asked how we were, needed menus or anything. While finishing our drinks 2 additional groups of(4) came in, again female bartender looked right at the guests opened her snack bar never acknowledged them and actually walked away. Received our check without even asking for it, when change was given back she gave it to another guest. If you want to be alone and feel like you don’t exist this is the Pub for you.

One of the cutest places I’ve been to in awhile. They have great karaōke on Friday nights, a pool table, darts and great people! They also have this cozy little nook that’s holds up to 6 people. It was one of the cutest things I’ve seen. We hada warm little fireplace, Christmas lights surrounding us and a TV. Such a hidden gem for sure!

My brother and I had such a great time at Celtica! It’s a popular place to go for college kids to hang out and tourists to go to for some delicious food and drinks! We recommend the pizza and Ruby Red Fizz! Thank you, Eric, for the delicious pizza that was made with love!

Cute little place with a limited but adequate menu. The hamburger was above average and the chicken tenders large with reasonable taste that needed a little more seasoning and a more tasty sauce. The service was friendly and prompt, even though it was game time. We’d go back again. And the local beer was good.

We moved to Newport, RI about two month ago. We have tried several restaurants here and we keep coming back to this very non-assuming pub! Our conversation just went like this…“this place has my favorite stuffies, lobster roll, pizza, fries, clam chowder out of all the restaurants we have tried. Can’t wait to come back over and over to finish the rest of the menu. A classy place, very casual, and the food is amazing. Shout out to Chef Eric!!!

Celtica was a great experience. My gf and I were staying in the Marriott next door and decided to walk to this place with this Guiness mural painted on the whole back of the building. They had 4−6pm oyster bar for $ 1. The bartender and staff were really friendly and laid back. The place is small and cozy, with a full length bar, half dozen or so pub tables, and two tucked in lounging nooks with comfy leather seating if you were going to meet up with some friends. Really enjoyed myself, and looking to go back for another Guiness very soon.

Great place to have a few drinks. The food is terrible. Had a pizza and boneless buffalo tenders. Ellio’s or Celeste pizza tastes much better. I love pizza and I could not even finish it it was that bad. The boneless buffalo tenders were edible but not great. Would return for atmosphere and drinks but definitely not to eat here.

I thought this place was great. No rush attitude. Had one of the best hot dogs of my life. The leather chairs were great. Music was great. Beer on tap was perfect temp. I will and would go back and please do not pay attention to the negative reviews… they are way off base. Some people you will never please. Everyone I saw at the place was totally happy that I could see. I know I was :)

We came for their raw bar special 1 $ a piece for oysters and shrimp cocktail. We sat at a table and the bartender yelled to ask my boyfriend what he wanted to drink. Said nothing to me poured his drink and left it on the bar for him to get. She did at one point tell to us again that his diet coke was on the bar. Shrimp cocktail was frozen not fresh but not awful. Won’t be going back.

The bar food is pretty good. The lobster roll is absolutely on point! The $ 1 oysters are also pretty good. There are plenty of TV’s to watch the game and they have comfortable booths with their own dedicated tv. The only negative is that the service is extremely slow when the bar gets packed. They have the same number of workers for 40 customers as they have for 5. Either put more workers on the busy shift or have the bartenders that are on the clock move a little bit quicker.

I never intended to write this review. Or with 5 stars. I am a total local and haven’t been here in ages but called on a whim one late night when I heard the pizza was good. Kitchen open until almost midnight? Solid. Tim was super helpful on the phone. Direct, nice, accommodating. Place was dark(which every bar should be) warm and Tim the bartender was fantastic. His attention to detail is so rare these days in Newport. Offered me a free taste, perfect menu explanations, throws out your trash promptly. So chill, so cozy and exactly what we wanted. Tab was $ 19 for full belly and not-an-ounce-short pints of smithwicks. Really?

Little bar with good beer selection but very light on food. Clam chowder is ok but the chicken tenders are very salty. Quiet on a weekday afternoon with good views of large screen TV’s showing Red Sox game. Nice to just relax a bit and plan your next move while sightseeing in Newport.

Had a great time here on St. Patrick’s Day and definitely will be back. The karaōke set up is great and the crowd is lively. A friend who ate the Corned Beef & Cabbage sandwhich they had on the menu said it was tasty. I only wish I could remember if drinks were reasonably priced…

This place should be experienced when you’re 1. Hammered drunk 2. On your way to becoming hammered drunk 3. Really any other time you’re looking for a good local bar scene. It’s far enough off the tourist track that you can avoid the Newport T-shirt wearing touristo/foolios and close enough to the shipyard that you get a very decent selection of salty dogs and clean cut super yacht crew who wander into this place. The pizza is surprisingly good for the bar location and the bar turns into a fun scene later in the evening. Recommend if you’re looking for a respite from screaming Bachelorettes and the Guidos at 1 Pelham. Crowd is mixed with young, old. They have a trivia night and karaōke night during the week.

Blah. It was good, I guess. The beer is cheap, though the bartenders are kind of inattentive. And don’t believe the allure of the Karaōke Guy; this idiot’s list fills up before 9PM, and even if you do get on the list, you’ll be waiting hours and hours just to sing a stupid song. There are many much better options in Newport. Go for Buskers or Pour Judgement if you want a good Irish Pub experience in Newport. This place is for locals and people with less than 10 teeth.

The few times I have been in the Celtica it has seemed like a locals place that is tucked into touristy Newport. This could be that the only times I venture into Newport is in the off-season. However, it is good to see a business thrive without the aid of tourists. They pour a great Guinness and have a decent beer selection. ‘low-end’ beers like miller/bud light are a bit pricey($ 4)…but Guinness & Smitty’s are $ 5. I haven’t tried the food but every indication is that it is slightly below average… but its a pub so what can you expect? There doesn’t seem to be wait staff so you have to go to the bar for your drink orders. The bartenders seem ‘typical Rhode Islanders’ to me so don’t expect a warm welcome… but they are nice and helpful(usually). One of the bartenders gave us a great recommendation(and a ride) to a local bar after she was closing up. Good atmosphere & good beer. I don’t look for a whole lot else in a pub.
