Used to be «Gold Crown» when they were a sales center. That is long over and RCI no longer gives them a rating. Gathered friends across 4 units and one(or more) units outside of our party were into heavy smoking, despite the no smoking policy. Rooms and hallways smelled. Resort failed to act. Avoid. This property isn’t even trying.

Our family of 5 stayed here over April School Vacation. Pros: This resort is centrally located and walking distance to Thames Street where all the shops and restaurants are located so you do need to drive everywhere. We loved to location and the staff was excellent. We used RCI Timeshare Exchange to stay here for a week. The front desk staff was very helpful in checking in. We had requested a room with an water view and view. They gave us the choice of 3 rooms to look at and choose which one we wanted. The ladies at the front desk also know the area very well. Everything from restaurants to sites to see was at our finger tips from talking to them. The heated indoor/outdoor pool along with 2 hot tubs(1 indoor/1 outdoor) was a huge hit. The large sitting area with the wide screen TV’s was great for the my wife and I to sit and relax while the kids were in the pool. They have a exercise room with plenty of equipment/weights, an onsite movie theater which was nice and we were able to watch Divergent. The game room is small but includes an air hockey table, pool table and a few arcade games. Our room was big, we had a 2 bedroom with a full kitchen and washer and dryer. Be sure to ask for a room with the washer/dryer, some do not have one. Con: The internet signal was OK but we didn’t mind because it gave us time to actually do things with the kids without being time sucked with IPads, Ipods, etc… but the signal can be touch and go at times. Best Places to eat: Brick Alley Pub, Diegos, Lucia’s, Via Via for Pizza Best things to do: The Mansions, Cliff Walk, Castle Hill Light House, Goat Island Lighthouse, Brenton Point/Ocean Drive, Thames Street One interesting tidbit: right across the street from the Wyndham Long Wharf is where the fishing docks are located. There is a Lobster/Crab shack right there where you can get lobsters/crabs right off the boat at cheaper prices, bring them back and cook them yourselves. We loved it here and the kids already want to go back

My parents were given some days here in April as a retirement gift and my sister, my kids and I spent a few of the days there with them. We enjoyed our time there and my almost five year old LOVED the indoor/outdoor pool. We were there for less than 72 hours and used the pool six times! It was very warm. Be aware that you must sign the towels out under your room number. I have mainly stayed in hotels in past experience and was not used to this. Other places I’ve stayed just kept towels out and about for anyone to use, so people were a bit protective of there towels here which was unusual for me. The rooms were clean and comfortable. A few things I didn’t like, we had two cars but you are only allowed one parking space so my sister needed to park her car on the road, which was thankfully free the time of year we were there. However, there were clearly plenty of parking spaces in the resort, so it just seemed unnecessary that they wouldn’t allow her to park in the resort given that the parking lot was never even close to full. Also they apparently have a theatre and show movies three times a day, but for a family with young children the movie times were quite inconvenient falling over nap time, dinner time and after bed time, so we were unable to use this feature, but for families with older kids, the times may be less inconvenient. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

We stayed thru a timeshare and enjoyed our time. My 10 year old LOVED the indoor/outdoor pool, especially since it was cold & rainy. No really! Since it is obviously heated, we had a blast! We also took advantage of using the cute little movie theater and popcorn. We brought sodas and a blanket from our room and it was even cozier. Staff was lovely. Rooms were decent. Biggest complaint is that the walls are not sound insulated ATALL. And since they use loud, pressure-assisted toilets, it’s a bit noisy. We all were woken early with the sound every toilet in our vicinity — adjacent, above-below, across — every time it flushed. And since it was St Patty’s Parade weekend, the revelers were heard all night too(and days, for that matter). If you’re planning to use the kitchen, you might want to bring a smaller sauce pan. While they stocked with good stuff, the pots were big. Seating in the living room was stiff, but deal-able. Wi-Fi needs to improve — we were only on for a few minutes all weekend, so be prepared to use a lot of cellular data. Overall, I’d stay again, especially because the location is perfect.

stayed here thru my mom’s timeshare. a little mix up with the reservation that was quickly fixed and we were checked in. nice decent room, easy to go into town, plenty of parking, no complaints. it’s not the 4 seasons or anything but it’s a good place to stay. we liked having 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and a little living room with a kitchen. also there was construction and a lot of noise going on but that was mainly during the day. we were barely in the room so we didn’t really hear anything.

If you are looking to stay in Newport keep looking… Every year we meet many other couples who live across the country as a central location to go to the Newport Polo match. There is about 10+ of us so we are spending a good amount of money. When we got here they tried to put us in rooms that were less than we paid for we had to argue with them for over an hour. We were supposed to be in the same area but we were all spread out. This was exasperated as the people next to us were absolutely out of their minds and kept us up past 4am both nights. The walls are paper thin so it was almost like they were in our bed with us. The absurdity was compounded by the fact that they were extremely inflexible and pushy demanding a 10am check out… especially when we had got little sleep do to all of the management’s failings and outdated inferstcture.
