This is a great place to stay. Right on the water close to shopping. Wifi not great but can’t have everything. I would come back here anytime :)

The amenities are fine and location good but I’m annoyed by what happened today. I have an electric car and at hotel after hotel(I’m retired) I’ve found everyone very accommodating. Staff usually bend over backwards to find me a plug. Seems all around businesses are embracing the future. Well, when we checked in they said if I could find a plug I was free to use it.(I charge at 8amps, less than a toaster, and would probably have used about $ 8 worth of electricity for the week, like all EV owners I’d have been happy to pay.) Well, the next day the outlet was shut off with no explanation so I went to the desk and they said I couldn’t charge due to liability reasons. We’ll I don’t know really why they reneged but since so many other hotels have been very helpful when I ask, I’ll never frequent another Wyndham property. The future demands modernity and the attitude here was clearly 19th century.

Not a place I could afford on a nonprofit salary, but a treat to join my parents every year for a few days of their vacation. Lovely suites, option to use the pool and hot tub all winter long(they’re timeshare owners), easy walking distance to Broadway/Thames/Goat Island, plenty of pool-side lounge chairs and umbrellas, great service, plenty of ocean-front views, free coffee every morning, covered parking, great amenities in rooms/suites, and fun programming every day by the pool for kids(games, crafts, root beer floats). The best of both worlds for a vacation — activities on site if it’s a rainy day, but perfect location as a launch pad for the best of Newport’s shopping and beaches. Gripes? Parking can be a pain when family wants to join and there are only 2 parking passes. Wifi is never reliable.
