I have been going here everytime I visit RI. But I think that will have to change. The hostess, who looked like pocchaunuts, was a complete bitch. I said can we sit outside she said sure and showed us our table in the middle of the aisle outside I said no what about this one which had much more space for us 3. She said well if we get a table of 4, we will need it. Then I say forget it we will sit inside. Of course we get smooshed in the corner, at this small table really made for 1 person and we were right on top of the other table. I then saw a table getting up and asked her to move over there because it’s a little smooshy over here she again said no. Are you kidding me? I never had a hostess say no. Your supposed to make the customer happy and what they want. I was very disappointed. 3 more tables got up and the place slowly began to become empty. We could have easily sat at that table but she had to be a bitch and make us the customers unhappy. I would come here 3x a year with no issues, enjoying a nice lunch but this time she ruined it and I don’t think I will be going back here. Stay away, it’s very small. You’ll be sitting right on top of another family, you’ll be smooshed into a corner or you’ll be smooshed up against a wall with yet not space.

My fourth time back and it’s still a very solid choice to visit with my co-workers. We were a table of five for a very busy Monday evening and only had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes. We began with a the margherita pizza as an appetizer. It was 8 small slices that was a nice beginning. We probably should have ordered two of them. Picture it as a personal pizza if you’re a big eater. I had the insalata mista with my meal. Huge portion and fresh. I had the Spaghetti al Frutti di Mare which consisted clams, mussels, and shrimp. The portion was very generous but the clams were baby clams and didn’t satisfy. Plenty of shrimp and mussels. The Tagliatelle alla Bolognese was a big hit at our table. The portions were generous as well. The service was very good and friendly. The restaurant isn’t big and there is some outside seating. It’s loud inside when it’s crowded. Pasta Beach isn’t overpriced which is surprising for Newport. It’s a 5 – 10 minute walk from the Hotel Viking. This is an excellent place to resolve your carb fix.

Newport is a tourist town and Pasta Beach is on a tourist street so as expected this is a restaurant for tourists. That means ridiculously priced items but look hard and you will find their sandwich selection-one of the few good deals. Humongous sandwiches for less than $ 10. The focaccia bread is thick and fluffy which makes the sandwich really good though the inside can get a bit gooey if you get eggplants. The sandwich is still really delicious. I tried one of their cheaper pasta dishes and personally those aren’t worth it. If you’re here and hungry, get a sandwich.

2nd time we come to this place and this time although we were a bigger party the service and food was just as good as the first time. This places also if you have kids. Fyi: the pasta might be a bit too aldente so if that is not you thing make sure to ask for them not make them too aldente.

Pasta beach is an alright resturant. Definitely not my first choice but definitely not my last. My waitress had an attitude and acted like she didn’t want to be there. I was not allowed to sit at any empty table because i didn’t have a reservation so i had to sit in front of a cash register and a kitchen. I saw an employee yell at another employee which isn’t too hospitable in my eyes. The food isn’t to die for but it wasn’t horrible. It isn’t too bad for a local pizza shop but it definitely isn’t a resturant id go out of my way just to eat their food again.

SOGOOD. The pasta and pizza were both amazing, and the Nutella dessert pizza was the perfect way to end our meal. Wine list isn’t great, but tolerable.

Food was good but servers were awful! Didn’t check on me once or even offer to fill up my water glass. They were all too busy gossiping to each other. When it came time to pay she gave me one receipt without my desert on it then charged me on another receipt for it, ditzy waitresses

Great restaurant for a work outing. Italian is always safe for a diverse group, and the large, reasonably priced portions of fairly good food made this a winner. The space was cheery and open. The service was very accommodating, efficient and friendly. Everyone had a good time. Thursday was lasagne night, which included a glass of wine and salad, along with lasagne, for under $ 20. This was a hit. I had the boar taglietelle. The pasta was fresh and the boar well cooked. The sauce was not quite as rich or flavorful as I expected, but it was still good. The sangiovese riserva was quite good. All in all, a good time and a particularly good value.

We came here and waited an hour for our reservation and eventually sat at the bar. Maybe it was their fault and poor planning or maybe it was the three tables of four that sat like they owned the place, who knows. i recommend the pizzas and the seafood zuppa. The pasta tasted fresh and house made. all in all an ok place for dinner.

GETTHENUTELAPIZZA… It’s a little dark and cramped inside when they get busy. But the food is amazing, the staff is nice and they are priced well. But still, GETTHENUTELAPIZZA

Don’t order the take out. Have ordered it here twice. The bruschetta is out of this world but as for the pastas and salads Pasta Beach must like their salad and pasta dry. Like really really dry. This is the second time my pasta has come with no sauce whatsoever. It tastes like spaghetti after you strain it. The salad came with enough dressing for maybe a corner. Overpriced.

Great spot and very reasonable. great pasta dishes in house with homemade pasta daily. Also, and an under-rated place for take out in Newport, while in college I often take out their huge sandwiches on their delicious homemade bread. Awesome pasta dishes, my favorite being spaghetti ai Frutti di Marea. Not the best location in town but I’ve heard for years now about moving locations to a bigger place, hopefully!

I’ve been to the Pasta Beach in Boston many times prior to the visit here at the original Newport location, and it had always been great food. On October 5th we were meeting family in the area to show them around Newport and decided to stop in for lunch, I assumed it would be the same menu, food and quality that we received over the years at the Boston location but boy was i wrong. The Server didn’t seem to know anything about the food she was serving, and had to double check with the chef when i asked about the menu or food. We usually would order the Veal Milanese which was a large Veal cutlet fried perfectly with arugula and cherry tomatoes and a wedge of lemon, this dish transported me back to my youth eating at my uncles restaurant in Gaeta, Italy every time I had it as it was made just perfectly as he used to make it, such a simple dish but the key was the ingredients and preparation. As well we would typically each order a pasta dish, usually their carbonara or bolognese but my favorite was the tagliatelle di funghi which was a delicious garlicky mushroom cream sauce over freshly made pasta that was cooked perfectly al dente. I was quickly dismayed to see that the menu was different than what we were used to at the Boston location, no more veal it was now chicken milanese and a few items were changed as well and seemed the menu was slightly larger and catering to tourists, I figured this was only at this location but sadly months later I’d find out this was the change at both locations. The food comes out and the portions were much smaller and lacking any quality: The bolognese was very salty and had barely any flavor as well the pasta tasted as if it had been par cooked and then sitting in olive oil as it had a plastic like texture, Same thing with the Funghi Tagliatelle I ordered, gone was the fresh cooked pasta and garlicky mushroom cream sauce and instead bland tasteless cream sauce that had a few mushrooms but no flavor. Last up was out Chicken Milanese, an overcooked and burnt in some areas chicken cutlet that was tough and dried as it had been well overcooked topped with yellowing arugula that should have been thrown away days prior. All in all a miserable meal and something the owners/chef should be ashamed to have served!

The waitresses were very professional and welcoming. The chef will prepare the pasta dishes to your liking. I can not recommend the Fruta De Mare enough. The Mussels are local but he flies in his clams from the Mediterranean. This was the best meal I had in Newport and I was happy I went back for another meal. I recommend paring your lunch with a Newport Start or Italian Pilsner, you won’t be sorry!!!

This spot blew us away. They have a cute little outdoor porch area — and lots of indoor seating. We went for lunch and were seated quickly. Everything that we saw while waiting for food and our menus and seating looked AMAZING, especially the mushroom pasta. So were pretty psyched when we sat down. I ended up ordering the foccacia with rosemary, olive oil, basil, and tomatoes. My husband got the prosciutto with melon, and my sister the mushroom pizza. Everything was absolutely delicious. Fresh, tasty and just honestly melt in your mouth good… none of what we got was fancy, but we were all equally blown away. I will definitely be back next time I’m in Rhode Island and hungry — can’t wait to try more of this menu.

Newport isn’t as known for its food, being full of tourist traps with mediocre food. This restaurant really impressed me based on its location, quality of food and overall experience. The restaurant is small with maybe 10 inside tables, 10 seats at the bar and a few tables on the patio. Warning: the patio is cozy, but very, very cramped. There is not a lot of room for your legs or room to move your chair away from the table. The smell when you walk in is intoxicating. Nothing beats the smell of fresh bread and pizza! You have to get a pizza or focaccia just to taste what you’re smelling. My friends and I shared the margherita pizza, melanzane salad, and tiramisu. The dough is absolutely delicious! It’s a good balance of crispy and soft, doughy goodness(perfect crust). It’s a little salty, but not overwhelming. The sauce was good — not thick and a bit on the runny side. Overall, a good margherita pizza highlighted by the dough. The only caveat about ordering the pizza is the size. It’s maybe a 10 inch pizza so plan accordingly. The salad was awesome, especially the baked eggplant in it(could’ve used more eggplant). The fresh mozzarella in the salad wasn’t too salty either. The tiramisu was too small and didn’t have enough of the cake part; it was mostly cream. Good, but left much to be desired! The prices were fair, portions were decent and service was good. The restaurant is close to everything and very easy to find(just look for D&D). Head on over for a great lunch!

The best sumptuous vegetarian meal I had in Newport! Perfect spot, huge portions and a very friendly staff. If you like spicy stuff ask for their chilly infused oil with the bread! I had the spaghetti arabiata(they were fine with replacing penne with spaghetti– brownie points and a good tip ensured) and husband had bologenese which was awesome according to him. Pasta done right! Skip other joints in town and come here.

I’m actually surprised I’ve never reviewed this before, but probably a good thing because my only memory of Pasta Beach since 2010 has been of good food and hostile service. I’ll do one better for this review: ate there twice during a recent five week visit(one on Easter!) and found the food to be excellent and only one server to be particularly hostile. If memory serves me correctly, it’s the same gal who has been there for quite some time. A smile and a bit of warmth goes a long way, sister. But I digress. Have always been a fan of their pizza; if not dining in, I’ve taken it out. Pasta is usually on point, salads are well appointed, not a huge fan of the dessert selections(though the Nutella pizza is pretty yummy). Wine list could use a revamp. One of those Newport staples that I return to time and again.

Definitely one of the top three restaurants to get Italian food in all of Rhode Island. I’ve been twice, and I would say the first time was a 5-star experience, the second time was a 4-star experience, so imagine I’ve given them 4.5 stars. The food is excellent. Pasta Beach was recommended to me by the straight-from-Italy Italian security guard in my building. The first time I went, I had the Penne all’Arrabbiata, and it was UH-MAZ-ING. Their pasta is perfectly al dente and the sauce was excellent – I strongly advise getting their pasta. [note: strongly!] I also had the margherita pizza, and the classic is always the best! Most recently, the friend whom I went with really wanted something with pesto, so we went with the pesto gnocchi. I have zero complaints(it was nicely flavorful without being overly«pesto-y»), but I was fantasizing about the pasta because my first experience was JUSTSOGOOD. We also got the Spinaci pizza, and it tasted so freshly made that my friend said, «This is the first time I think pizza is contributing positively to my health.»(Molto delicioso crust, by the way!) For dessert we got the profiteroles and a vanilla/cherry gelato. Rich, whipped chocolate on the profiteroles(which were mini! very cute compared to the enormous one I was envisioning) and the fresh cherries atop the gelato were, truly, the cherry on the … gelato. But overall, my second experience seemed less«wow» than my first, and I’m not sure why. I won’t hold it against them. I will echo some other comments about the service, though. Our waitress was friendly, but she would ask if we wanted something, and then not return with it. Our glasses remained empty for quite a while, and service(not the food, just the service) was really slow. As this took place on the eve of a snow storm, I can’t blame the busy crowd(it was mellow). Granted, I wasn’t rushed, so the wait time didn’t bother me – just being without water when I was thirsty. My advice is come to Pasta Beach – GETOUTOFFEDHILL– and journey south for some true authentic Italian cuisine.
