Took my girlfriend here for Valentine’s Day brunch and we had a delicious meal in this cute little spot. The Bloody Mary’s were the perfect level of spicey and had an asparagus spear in them that had been pickled in a top notch brine. I had the salad that had the most moist, perfectly flavored grilled chicken that I have ever had. It was one of the best balanced, tastiest salads that I’ve ever had and was well worth its $ 17 price tag.

Had dinner last night and had NOTHING like the experiences posted. Service was negligent and snarky. They had run out of popovers(early), we had to ASK for bread. My meal was overcooked(server agreed, but who is watching the quality?), replacement came out 20 minutes after everyone else at the table had finished. No attempt was made to make us happy. I’d be hard pressed to find a reason to return.

First time here and my wife and I ate at the bar on Sat night(we didn’t make reservations) and it was great. We started with the popovers(awesome), fried Brussels sprouts(awesomer), and roasted beets(awesomest? nice acidity). We split the lamb ragu pappardelle(very good) and the Smores tart(wow it was fantastic with a charred marshmallow topping that had a nicely strong wood-fire-ness to it). And the service was great. Both from the wait staff and from the chef(Chad) who stopped by to chat with us for a few minutes. His wife makes the bread(did I say anything about the free bread? No? It’s ridiculously good and wheaty) and he gave us a loaf to take home just because. I can’t expect that to happen every time I come here, but I’d come back for everything else.

This little bit of a restaurant is just lovely. I wasn’t sure what all the fuss was about popovers, but they won me over. I am a popover fan! I was at Farmstead Table with 5 of my closest friends for a birthday celebration. Our server could not have been nicer. Every time one of our glasses was empty, whether it was wine or water, she was right there checking on us. We ate one of every single small plate. The brussels were fantastic and we totally would have ordered another plate! Each of us ordered something different and we all were totally impressed with our dishes. I had a cod dish and was pleased to find that the fish was cooked perfectly and there was so much flavor. This is a small restaurant so it can get a bit loud and the prices are a touch high, but the atmosphere, tasty food and excellent service makes this spot worth a return visit.

Ate here last night and couldn’t wait to review. Food was terrific. I had the Statler Chicken and my guest let me try his rib eye steak. Both were perfect. Service was great. Nothing else to say

Place is so good! I’ve eaten here 25+ times over the past year and a half. Every time I go somewhere else I say«should have went to farmstead»

The delicious food is lovingly prepared with top quality, fresh, local ingredients. We have never been disappointed. Best brunch in the burbs without a doubt — we crave the coffee and popovers every weekend. To top it of, the the entire team is lovely, warm, genuine and professional, which truly makes the experience special.

Another reason not to make the drive into the city… Located in Newton Center, Farmstead Table is yet another example of creative gourmet food that doesn’t require a trip to the South End. We gave it a try to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. The staff were friendly and accommodating, especially with our toddler. The pop-overs are a delicious way to start, served with jam and butter. As an appetizer, I had the sea scallops when were baked with breadcrumbs. Perfectly cooked they were sweet and salty and a great way to kick off the meal. My wife raved about her goat cheese and seasonal greens salad. For a meal, I have the pasta with a wine sauce and rabbit confit. It was outstanding and features a generous portion of juicy rabbit meat. My mother-in-law ordered the salmon and had to send it back because it was undercooked. Once it was cooked enough, she seemed to enjoy it. The staff were apologetic and furnished her a dessert on the house. We tried the s’mores tart, pumpkin rootbeer cake, and molten chocolate cake. All were very rich and almost overwhelming. The s’mores tart was the standout with perfectly flamed marshmellow with dense chocolate ganache and graham cracker bits. Overall, I would definitely return. And, the convenience can’t be beaten!

This place is delicious. I especially love their signature popovers(and suggest ordering a basket for the table)! The vegetarian small plates are well seasoned and hearty. Some are a bit more creative than others in terms of flavor profile, but if you order a bunch of them to share it provides a good balance. Minus 1 star because sometimes the waitstaff isn’t as attentive as they could be. Overall though, highly recommend this place for an intimate brunch or dinner!

I love this place! Everything is fresh and delicious. Definitely try the popovers! The service has always been stellar when I go. I’ve had their brunch as well as their lunch and everything has been great. Try the quiche, all sorts of pasta and the soups are always yummy and decadent. Make a reservation if you can, this place fills up fast.

Okay– we didn’t really know what to expect from this restaurant when we came for brunch. We were all pleasantly surprised. There were four of us and we got seated at a table right by the door. It’s actually a super cute place. The décor is really subtle but with pops of color. It’s modern and clean. Anyway, we all ordered separate dishes and got the popovers to share. All of us enjoyed what we got. Everything was executed perfectly. We got crepes, the burger, and a plate with eggs, toast, etc(can’t remember the name of it). We would recommend all of it! The service was also good. We all put in our orders, 4 dishes, 1 appetizer, some side dish, teas, coffee, water… and the waitress didn’t write anything down. She walked away and we looked at each other thinking ‘oh no, did she hear that we got 2 teas? what about the juice? maybe we should remind her we also had the turkey sausage. i hope the popovers don’t get left behind…’ then we waited. everything came but the orange juice. she almost got it all. Nonetheless, brunch was good :)

Excellent experience. Came here while on a business trip and looking for real, whole food. I started with the popovers which exceeded my expectations– light, fluffy, airy and delicious! I had the Brussels sprout tacos as recommended by the waitress and was a little disappointed. The Mahi Mahi on the other hand was incredible. the fish was perfectly cooked and on top of a delicious curry of veggies and soba noodles but it didn’t taste anything like a usual curry. Ambiance was great, too.

Would have given 5 stars for the food. Friend said best hamburger he ever had. Other friends said special fish, Place, was excellent and my roasted duck breast was superbly cooked and delicious. Of course the popovers were delicious and with a glass of pink Valentino just a lovely starter. However, we were very frustrated with the hostess. We called and she said a table would be ready when we got there in 20 minutes. We were debating between two restaurants and chose Farmstead based on perfect timing. But timing wasn’t perfect and we had to wait 20 minutes after arriving. She could have tried to save the moment by offering a glass of wine but she didn’t and it made us frustrated with our decision.

They get the 5th star cuz of the popovers, I’m a total sucker for them. But overall, we had a super nice time at their tiny(4 seat) bar a few weeks ago. Fun bartender, good drinks and wine, delicious app of mushrooms and polenta and good entrees of pork and fish. She always gets something chocolate for dessert but my fruit tart was incredible. Small place with a hidden patio, I’d be there more often if I lived in Newton.

Farmstead Table is really cute – much smaller than I imagined. Our group started with the popovers(which were AMAZING. The jam and butter really added to the awesomeness of them), which only comes 4 to a basket. Yikes, that’s pricey at $ 10. We had a group of 5 so we got an extra popover. I didn’t look at the bill so I don’t know if we got charged an extra $ 2.50 for it, but even though they were amazing I cringed a bit at the price. My pork porterhouse was also stellar. Very tender and delicious. The burger looked awesome and I have to say I snuck some of the fries and they were well seasoned and crispy. Honestly, the entire meal was super enjoyable, so I guess it’s worth the price tag in that sense, but this isn’t a place I could see myself frequenting purely due to pricing. Happy to indulge here on occasion though!

Farmstead Table — Newton, MA — 5÷18÷2015 The staff is super friendly. You feel welcome from the moment you sit down. They’re not normally open on Mondays but with all the out to towners here for graduations… The décor… A bit eclectic, kind of a nouveau farm theme with a mix of stainless and wooden chairs with wooden table tops. I’m a bread freak so bread is very important. Tonight I start with Warm Popover with house whipped butter… Start with Grilled Cauliflower Tacos… Avocado, Cole Slaw and garnished with scallions… This evenings Fish special… Baked Cod baked in a Porcine broth with Porcine Mushrooms, English Peas, Bok Choi, Spinach and Asparagus… Totally different than I normally would order but I feel really good about this! Flavorful AND healthy… What a concept… With all of this goodness I feel a strong urge to have something bad so… The Dobos Torteve… Rum Crème Anglaise, Hand-Dipped Chocolate Espresso Bean… Five layers of cake with a buttercream frosting between layers… What a great place. I feel content, nourished and not at all bloated like so many places where you leave stuffed. If you are looking for some place different, this is your place. I would definitely come back.

Farmstead Table is a wonderful place for a date away from the crowds. The restaurant is small and cozy, with a homey vibe. The menu offers fresh, seasonal items with some pretty creative uses of fishes and vegetables. The cocktail list is small and simple, and they stock a variety of fine liquors if you want something custom. We went there to celebrate an anniversary and our server was very friendly, patient and knowledgeable. We’re happy with our decision to go there and will be checking it out again someday.

I was excited to go to Farmstead Table with my mom for a fun girls day out. I enjoyed the concept and the decorations; the staff was very friendly. However, the food left something to be desired. Our favorite part of the meal was the parsnip dumplings, but put a load of butter in front of these ladies and we can’t say no :) The mussels weren’t very good — they were a tad spicy for mom and the sauce wasn’t your typical«must lap up with remaining bread» type sauce. In fact, they don’t give you bread, and we had to ask for two popovers a la carte because we didn’t need the entire $ 10 popover basket(they came $ 3 each.) We were thankful that they obliged as we are suckers for popovers; but they couldn’t spare any jam. The ladies next to us found something plastic in their soup. I think that this place could improve if they offered food that was more up to the level of their price tags. Perhaps let us know if the items are organic? Add fruit to flavor the water offered? Give(gasp!) free popovers or even mini-popovers to folks? End the meal with a homemade caramel or something that reads farm fresh. Overall, I think that this place with the prices and promise should have been exceptional and truly unique. It was nice to check out, but I won’t be coming back unless they vastly improve the food experience.

There’s always a sort of weird feeling in the air when people are winding down their activities before battening down the hatches for a storm. Which storm, one asks, in this glorious winter of 2015, this was the storm of 2÷8−2÷10, a.k.a. ‘The One That Looked Small Because It Was Only 20″ On Top of 3 Feet”. Anyway, in the early hours of it, it was slushy but not hard to deal with, and we had no trouble making our brunch reservation to meet my parents for a semi-monthly«I’m not a horrible son» meal. Farmstead Table is definitely the sort of place the wife and i would frequent, not so much my parents. Happily, though, the brunch menu is very straightforward, with familiar sorts of things, and everybody had lots of options. The difference is, it was plainly made with great care and with good ingredients, which stand out when you’re having something so simple as fried eggs and finding it amazing(careful sprinklings of seasoning didn’t hurt). The omelet and the french toast were the same, simple enough to show off what goes into it. Yummy. The toast/bread is especially impressive, a 1″ hunk of moist, almost cake-like, nourishing starch. The sort of thing you’d pack in your bag for a hike through Mordor, or for braving a malfunctioning T home. The service is friendly, if a little busy for a small place, and they have a good selection of breakfast drinkies. Beer for me, mimosas for the girl, lots of teas for my dad. The space is small, but comfy and simple, and clearly popular. It’s within sight of the T station, and the girl and i will surely return for dinner some night. Some summer night, maybe.
