Nathali’s is a little nook of tasty exotic food… not what I might expect to find in Newtown, Its pretty ambitious and brave to cook Paella… Nathali’s is a vegetarian’s heaven offering lasagna, pastas, veggie meatballs, eggplant parmigiana, vegetarian stromboli and that’s just from Italy! From Spain you have more vegetarian inspired dishes such as vegetarian paella, tapas or a potato tortilla. I love my veggies but I also love my meat and you can have these same dishes with chicken, pork or beef. Spanish tapas is a small mouthful of something delectable and have now caught on worldwide. While in Spain I adored these irresistible bite sized tidbits, which have become common place in the states. They have a wonderful variety of tapas for both vegetarians and meat eaters. The homemade pizzas have the freshest basil and toppings. You can purchase pizzas, whole, by the slice or individual sized pizzas which have a thicker crust. They have over thirty five vegetarian dishes and at least fifteen different sandwiches. The most exciting dish for me was the classic Spanish paella, made with rice seasoned with saffron and other spices and infused with fish, shrimp, crab, clams and vegetables. They also have a strictly vegetarian version of this dish. I’m not sure what it was called, but it was a layered cooked spinach, red strips of peppers and onions all topped with a parmesan cheese and caramelized red onion, I loved this dish and I would return for this alone. The eggplant parmesan was good and layered to approximately four inches high of sliced eggplant, onions, tomato sauce and cheese, almost built like a lasagna. The chicken parmesan was a huge portion, breaded and sauteed, topped with a very good homemade tomato sauce and shredded cheese. The chicken was moist and it had the perfect blend of herbs and seasonings. They sell trays of Spanish cheese and chorizo, olives and pesto sauces. I am anxious to try more from their menu, especially since I do not know what a lot of it is, but I am excited to learn. I am a vegetable lover, which means almost all vegetables out there, but I especially loved mushrooms and I did not see a lot of it in use here. Are mushrooms a veggie or a fungus or both?
