Disappointed
I headed over to Piccolos on a Monday after work with a large group of people for a special event. After a few minutes of looking over the menu, the waiter grabbed our orders and we continued to talk while the food arrived.
I ordered the shrimp scampi. I’ve had this dish before at multiple restaurants so I knew what I was getting. The dish looked appealing when it first arrived, but that quickly changed when I started to eat. The pasta was fine, cooked a little longer than it should have but I was hungry. The sauce seemed very bland; it was under seasoned. The biggest complaint came from the 4 shrimp I got. Not only was that not enough shrimp for how much I paid but they were far over cooked and none of them were deveined. Seeing thick black digestive lines in my dish wasn’t too pleasant. I couldn’t believe that any self respecting restaurant could serve anything like this.
The waiter didn’t even ask why most of my dish remained uneaten.
Overall, I probably won’t be going back. For the price, the quality wasn’t there.

Save your money and go elsewhere. They don’t honor reservations, are uninterested in the customer’s needs. Once seated we waited 25 minutes before the waiter came near us. Had to ask for our entrees, sodas etc. The food was over salted, full of garlic and not very good. Calamari not properly fried, dessert dry and tasteless

I really want to like this place for dinner. After all, good pizza, good service, good food, BYOB, entertainment by a clarinet /​bass duo, but I think they believe that customers will come and wait 45 minutes after reservation time, in a very hot, tiny waiting area and by overbooking, all will be fine for them.
Well it isn’t, as there are other places in town. I gave no problem with a 15 minute wait, but beyond that means overbooking, and disrespect. Other restaurants do 30 – 45 minutes segments, ok. I can accept that.
To make matters worse, the place is very very warm and without a door opened even the old of winter isn’t good enough to cool off place.
After a 45 minute wait, a friend of the owner took our table for 4 and we were placed in a small booth where groups of 2 were seated.
After realizing that we waited 45 minutes for a table for four, being seated on comfortably at a Booth meant for two, we got up and left and went to dolce carini.
Although we had to pay for wine, we were comfortable and entertained by piano and served great food by A very hospitable server.
A great option after a very frustrating experience.

A great place for iconic Italian dishes. The menu includes everything from stuffed shells and shrimp scampi, to carbonara and chicken marsala.
Situated in a strip mall, you’ll find the atmosphere warm and cozy yet great for large groups as well. Some nights they have live music, so you might want to sit away from the speakers if you want to converse.
I would definitely return to explore the menu some more.

We love this place but they clearly overbooked for Christmas Eve. We and a lot of other people with reservations have been waiting a half-​hour plus. If we had another option tonight, we would leave.

Loved the pizza at this place. Was told to go by friends of ours, but was really surprised by how great the margarita pizza was. The owner asked us how our food was and was very friendly. Really impressed!

We stopped in for dinner last night, 12/​20/​2015 and ate with our young girls on the to-​go side of the restaurant. The food was extremely good and tasty, however things were screwed up from the start! Couldn’t get a cup of water for the girls and when they finally brought it out the girl asked if we wanted water in the cups. Really! My wife’s meal came with a salad, that didn’t show up until we asked 3 times. Then of course we got two of them… one came ready to eat, the other was in a take home box. The Stromboli i ordered took forever and the single slice of pizza never showed up. Not sure how you can screw up a single slice when they’re sitting on the counter, ready to go. Like I said, great food, but these guys really need to work on their service!!!

So disappointed in this place, which used to be so much better. We made a reservation in advance for 4 people for dinner. We arrived on time and the place was PACKED! They have no room for waiting so everyone was standing around right in front of the tables where people were eating. That could not have been a pleasant experience for those diners, but there was no where else to go. Then we waited for over a hour to be seated, even with a reservation! We would have left, but we were with friends.
The food was so blah this time too. My friend’s order was incorrect. The puttanesca sauce was so oily and had almost no flavor. The fried calamari was soggy and just gross. I will never go back and I suggest you don’t either. This is not a good sign of a well run restaurant and kitchen.

Tara took great care of our needs (wife needed low gluten, I needed no salt) and gave us wonderful service and great food! One of our go to places in Newtown.

I just moved to Newtown over the summer and have been looking for the perfect pizza. It’s been a struggle but we’ve finally found it. This place makes the perfect pizza. crust is crispy not soggy, deliciously flavorful sauce, fresh ingredients, it’s a win! So happy I found this gem hidden in the strip mall.

We have been disappointed so many times regarding authentic tasting Italian food.
This place however delivered in a big way!
Caesar salad was spot on, with fresh shaved Parmesan, dressed beautifully.
4 Of us have been here twice so far and have sampled 8 of the chicken dishes… All superb
The side of pasta was very good with nice red sauce
Broccoli rabe was great
Located in a shopping center however, nice comfortable ambiance inside. Great service.
I can’t begin to say how I prefer to write glowing reviews like this… sad that it is not more often.

4 stars only because it’s a little pricey. But food and atmosphere is great. A true Italian joint. Highly recommend the Brooklyn pie. It is the absolute best you can find in the area.

This place was recommended during a wine tasting at Crossing Vineyards and I’m so glad we stopped. We were greeted warmly and we’re treated to great live music by Ambiance The Duo. They take requests!
The Clans Nico are superb and the pizza is perfect. Hubby had the sausage and pepperoni. By checking in on Unilocal we got a free dessert. We’ll be back!

Piccolo recently catered my wedding at the Rose Bank Winery in Newtown, PA, and did a FANTASTIC job. The catering manager, Ali, helped us through every step; she and her staff set up the entire wedding, including outdoor seating for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and even all of our centerpieces. and favors She provided us with full staff (including bartenders, even though Piccolo is BYO) and gave us recommendations for alcohol providers, bakeries for wedding cake, etc and coordinated well with all of the other vendors. Ali was extremely responsive throughout the entire planning process.
Of every aspect of our wedding, the food definitely received the most compliments. Piccolo allowed us to write our own menu and were basically able to accommodate anything we asked for. We had an unbelievable cocktail hour with a full antipasto spread and passed hors d’oeuvres. We opted for buffet, with filet, shrimp cocktail, lobster rolls, crab cakes, and sides, all of which were unbelievable.
I would definitely recommend Piccolo for catering. Ali took so much of our stress away and really delivered. Thank you for a great experience!

Brooklyn pie is just amazing. If I had to eat one thing for the rest of my life, this would be it. Best pizza I ever tasted.

I have never had better pizza… anywhere! The sauce is out of this world and the staff is incredible! Moe treats everyone like family, food is amazing, and order is alway ready on time for pick up!

Why has it taken me this long to try Piccolo Trattoria, I can’t say, but what I do know is that it won’t take that long before I return. However, if the idea is to write an honest review, I have to say that we had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated, even after having a reservation from OpenTable.
We opted for the caprese salad and the Margherita pizza, and I can’t say how thankful I am for those choices. The caprese salad came out looking perfect. The juicy tomatoes and fresh, generous chunks of mozzarella stole the show. Just a delicious salad.
In keeping with the mozzarella, basil, and tomato theme, the Margherita pizza was outstanding. The Margherita pizza is one of my favorite pizza pies, and this was one of the best I’ve ever had. Sometimes it’s best to say less, and I’m going to leave you with this: Fresh and flavorful ingredients with a crispy crust makes for an excellent, excellent pizza.
**I checked in with Unilocal and got a free dessert. I chose the chocolate cake, and it was really good. Big in size and flavor. Very rich.

My family has been coming here for years and we have yet to leave with unhappy stomachs! Our family favorite is definitely the Brooklyn pie. It’s our go-​to Friday night take out meal and we even get it when we visit for a sit down dinner.
We also love the calamari and the mussels! The restaurant provides a cozy ambiance and the staff makes you feel right at home. I’m looking forward to my next visit already!

We’ll start with things I didn’t like, since I gave it 4 stars, you know I liked the place.
Got the grilled veggie appetizer, and didn’t expect it to be cold! I hate the idea of grilled food coming cold. I realize it makes it easy for them to always offer it, but gross… I was definitely not pleased with that dish.
The rest of the food was delicious, we enjoyed their pastas. Their dessert was particularly good, and I would come back more for their dessert than anything else.
I love the décor, it’s romantically dim, but not too dim, and getting a booth to sit in is a great touch.
