First time visitor. Ashley was our server and she was very patient plus my daughters meal was plain so she took it back and spiced it up. Great experience.

I have been to Flat Top a few times now, and feel the same way now that I did during the first 2 visits. The prices have increased substantially since I was there last, and they have now stopped allowing customers to put the quantity of meat they want in the stir fry bowls. They now give you a 3 meat option and guaranty you ½ pound of meat. This is of course to cut costs, and is incredibly tacky(specially since meat prices have been getting cheaper in the food industry). They also charge extra for some seafood meats. The service was good. Our server was very attentive to whatever we needed and was pretty friendly. She helped some of the new people in our group understand how the flat top does stir fry. That was really the only notable thing about our evening. The food was mediocre, and far from excellent stir fry. Many of the vegetables I picked looked pretty fresh, but were not fully cooked when the stir fry came back. The vegetable selection was great, but again if something goes on the grill and comes right off it is kind of a waste. My wife ordered a Mango Margarita, and it was poor quality. The drink was $ 8, which is way too expensive for what she actually got. Good service and expensive, mediocre food. I would recommend staying at home and making your own stir fry.

Great stuff. Kind of newbie but a good server will talk you through it. If they had list of standard combinations it would attract the more timid diner. I need to eat here more.

Wife and I arrived at 5:30 on a Saturday night and were told 15 – 30 minutes wait… an HOUR later we got our table… We had a show to get to so this was really annoying. Next we get put at a table 1 foot away from another table… Of course there were lots of tables empty which would’ve been nicer to be spaced out a bit.(Why the hour wait with all the empty tables??) You just feel like you’re at a school cafeteria and are forced to eat with people you don’t know… I don’t like going through a buffet line to pick out my food(sneeze glass) I hope everyone has clean hands while using the same tongs. You used to be able to pick your meat choice but not anymore. I never know how much sauce or which sauces to use. most of the veggies were undercooked/almost raw. $ 2.99 up-charge because I selected shrimp for my meat choice-not like there were that many shrimp in my serving… Waitress was ok but service in this place is minimal no refills/no water. no sugar at the table for my iced tea/no salt/pepper or soy sauce at the table… You must ask for those! I guess flat top left me feeling just flat.

Absolutely the best. Hip, but low key atmosphere so you can bring friends or family or both. Full bar, and all of the food is obviously cooked to order. Service has always been great, even when they’re busy, and they have a discount program that gives you some free stuff every once in a while. Try the Roti Bread!

I was here recently with my family and I would like to post my experience here. I really don’t understand why this restaurant is called vegan, except that there is a wide choice of veggies to choose from. I’m a vegetarian and I dont eat any kind of meat, I even put an allergy stick on to my bowl and asked for a stir fry, but I ended up getting stir fry roti tacos along with a piece of beef in it. When raised a concern I was told that the piece of beef might have fallen in there from other customer’s orders as stir fry is done on the same pan for every customer. So what you eat depends on what you neighbor eats as well. I am a staunch vegetarian and this really annoys me.

Recently went here with a few friends. I was excited to go after finding out how it all works. After reading the harsher reviews I had a bad impression before I went in, but to my surprise it was not as bad as some people said. The inside was really nice and the employees were very polite. Especially my waiter Ben. He was super informative and helped me understand how it goes. As for the food, don’t go if you’re a picky eater. My boyfriend hates every kind of vegetable which is like 2⁄3 of your $ 14 bowl… It’s like going to chipotle but seems a lot healthier. I would recommend if you are bored with regular restaurants.

I really wanted to like this place. Food was decent, but my omelette had cheese added even tho I didn’t ask for it(dairy allergy). Had to go up and have a new one made. Our server assumed we had been there before, no explanation about how everything worked(colored stick system, etc). Everything needs a through clean wipe down from the placards on the table to the menu’s to the sticky floors and splattered benches. One of our water glasses had black specks in it– yuck. Sadly, it looks like a bunch of young adults work here that really don’t care.

Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Was there last night and noticed the bar to get veggies, etc. has expanded AND the sauce bottles have been CHANGED back to containers with ladles. So much easier to get the right amount of sauce and not nearly as messy as the bottles. Last night I actually tried their recipe combo. for Roti Tacos. The lime basil sauce and hot chili sauce were SOGOOD together. Keep up the good work — so worth driving 90 miles(roundtrip).

Good healthy food on the run. Service was fast and nice. It was clean and veggies were crisp and fresh! I would recommend this one!

Lately, our visits have been extremely disappointing. The sauce containers are completely senseless and ebb though we use the same ingredients consistently, the flavors are just not there. Not spending any more $$ here.

I’ve eaten at Flat Top in Bloomington a couple times, and only REALLY liked the food once. The last time I ate there my food was undercooked, as if they were rushing to get the food off of the grill. My veggies were raw enough some were not edible. There was no browning at all to anything in my bowl. I also am not a fan of how they did the meat. I could tell the chicken was cooked ahead of time, and just reheated and added to my dish, and it was not good. Next time, I will stick to Tofu and Egg and hope they cook everything fully.

We have been here a number of times(and I have even left a very nice review in the past). However, we were here for breakfast this weekend and it was not a good experience. When we walked by the wait station/door to the kitchen, there was a really bad, and I mean REALLY bad odor — it smelled like a bucket of stale water with towels that had been sitting in it for weeks. And you had to walk by that area to get to the food and then again when you went back to your table. The service was horrible and so slow. It took forever to get our food(the food was the best part of the experience). And it took forever to get our bill. We had to flag down the Manager to get drink refills. It seems like the Manager was the only one working hard. We will think twice about going back.

My friends and I went there. They changed their portion/policy. The meat is now behind the chefs. They said it was for health reason but they allow you for ½ lb. of meat. It is $ 12.99 for one trip, $ 4 for a second. My first bowl came with a long blonde hair! So not cool! They also had so many orders in line that they contaminate your food with someone else’s. For example, my friend order without Tofu. She does not like that. Well, she got a bonus anyway! For the $ you spend there, you might want to go for a Steak dinner instead. Don’t think I will go there again!

This is a two star increase from my previous review. Previously, I said Flat Top was one note. Dinner tonight has permanently changed my mind. FT has added new menu items that are a total game changer. The new items blend Asian fusion with Tex-Mex. Specifically, the new option to change your bowl into roti tacos is great(because I don’t have to repeatedly ask for more roti throughout my meal.) Further, the fajita chicken pairs well with one of the new pre-made combination suggestions. It is good to see FT growing in the right direction. On this most recent visit, the waitstaff seemed more attentive than ever before. Gabby came in clutch while making out way though the line and suggested a great sauce combination for my girlfriend(black bean garlic and horseradish tofu). It rivaled my combination of red Thai curry and the lime sauce. Stephanie was an excellent guide to the new menu and made great drink suggestions. I only have two negatives from this experience. First, the green peppers need to be cut finer for the new menu options to work. In a bowl, chunks if green pepper make sense, but they are abrasive in the tacos I had. Next, the hot and sour soup didn’t make the new menu!!! This was one thing I previously enjoyed. It’s too bad, but I totally can’t wait to try the stuffed sandwich next time. I don’t know if FT has new management or what, but these new items, well trained staff and excellent customer relations have changed my mind. I’ll be back to FT.

It was the unholy mixture of raw food not cooked enough and over cooked, pre-cooked food all served Luke warm. The«steak» was bland and not seasoned. Everything was sticky! I had to wash my hands after going through the prep-line. There wasn’t time to taste the sauces because everyone behind us wanted to sauce up! Don’t add egg! It makes everything gooey. My bread was slimy with the residue of the contents of the bowl. I was not happy to get **bonus** ingredients that I didn’t put in my ingredient bowl. I left feeling sad for the people waiting to go in and eat… I wish I had my $ 37.00(for two«entrees» and two sodas) back.

I really appreciate Flat Top Grill. It makes it easy to get exactly what you are in the mood for. I love trying different types foods and flavor combinations and with Flat Top I have a multitude of options. The staff is always great and the place is always very clean. Their nan is to die for. Quick Tip: Not everyone knows that you can have your dish prepared as soup.

Yummy. Easy to eat vegetarian or pescetarian here as they have multiple non meat protein choices. They also will prepare your food separately from others if you request. Just place a food allergy stick to signify this request. Price at lunch is much more reasonable than dinner prices. It’s the same damn food just pricier at night. That sucks. Overall, clean and delicious.

Things I love about Flat Top: I will never and have never left hungry. I will have leftovers for at least two meals after.** I am a huge fan of picking exactly what I want to go in my food. Their bread is amazing. Things I don’t like: You still have to tip your server even though all they really do is drink service. They primarily hire a Mexican staff to cook your Asian inspired cuisine. The seating in the restaurant seems a little strange at times. **Please note that I stuff literally as much food as possible into both my pasta bowl and the meat bowl. Like, probably at least a few pounds worth of food.

I’m a fan because Flat Top is inexpensive, relatively fast, and I get to customize my own dish to my liking. Tips: — use a lot of veggies! — you can add more sauce if you want bolder flavors(including spices, garlic, etc) — You can add shrimp with a colored stick — Add the bread to your bowl — it is soo good(a colored stick)
