Metro Balderas

Dont eat here the people who works there are always rude. If you happened to ask a question they look at you funny and answered you with an other sarcastic question back and then you get ignored. The food quality is really bad, i think the health department should give them a letter «C». I wish i could give then 0 stars.

I read that Metro Balderas is one of few places in Los Angeles that have really great carnitas. It’s a small chain, with the more popular location is in Highland Park. There’s also a location nearby in Panorama City.
The style of food here is inspired by Mexico City (estillo DF). On the weekends only, you can taste their famous carnitas.
I asked for recommendations since they didn’t have carnitas and told me to get the huarache surtido. Surtido means assorted so it’s a mixed bag of pieces of pork. You’ve got the ears, snout, skin, and some other parts I probably don’t want to know about. I am game to try anything.
The huarache tortilla is freshly made and stuffed with black beans. then topped with the assorted pork meat. There’s salsa verde on it and cheese. It was so much meat that I took some it home for dinner. Extremely moist and a flavor bomb of a dish.
It seems that not many people know about this place and is one of those yet to be discovered gems for Mexican food in the Valley. There are so many place more for me to discover and uncover still in San Fernando and Pacoima.
The pineapple agua fresca was watered down. I’d like to try the watermelon agua fresca next. They also have huitlacoche (corn smut) which I’d like to try along with their famous carnitas.

Health hazard!!! I don’t deny that food taste is great yet, EVERY time I visit I notice something disgusting about hygiene at this place. Last thing was something as obvious as black spoiled cilantro on top of my tacos.

I was starving & about to pass out when I found this place. It’s a hole in the wall atmosphere but my stomach didn’t care as I ordered tacos for dinner. Tacos are $ 1.30 each. $ 1.30??? That’s an amazing price! So I stocked up on 4 of them. 2 asada & 2 pollo. Pollo was good, but asada was amazing! Probably best I’ve had in a hole in the wall place!!! 4 stars is only cause I didn’t see a menu for burritos but they do serve them. They do charge $ 0.50 for debit/​credit card but I left satisfied, so I’ll definitely come here again!!!

This is a hole in the wall type place. Don’t expect ambiance or amazing service, those are pretty standard here. Do expect authentic and incredibly cheap amazing Mexican food. You can’t go wrong with the tacos, the huaraches are good too, their Agua de Tamarindo is perfectly sweetened and refreshing.

Today was a «bring your family to work Day» at Metro Balderas… The place was almost empty and it took forever to make my quesadilla because the guy who took my order was too busy talking with a lady who looked was his wife or girlfriend and forgot to give my order to the lady who makes the food.
After that the «wife or girlfriend «walked behind the counter touching food with bare hands and eating from the preparation area! HEALTH DEPARTMENT something is wrong right here…
The cherry on top of the cake was the kid (their son I guess) crying, screaming and running all over the place, I couldn’t enjoy my «burnt quesadilla» because of that!!!
RED FLAG!!!

Went in this morning to grab a torta. Three people were behind the counter talking but no one came to take my order. I literally stood there 5 minutes and finally walked out.

This place is real good to get a quick bite. Great Mexican good but the best part is that it is some real authentic Mexican food .
All dishes are great but the one I like to get most of the time is the TORTA BALDERAS
Comes with a blend of flavors can’t get enough. Deff. Recommend tho place to anybody that could see this review .!

Good place to grub after getting the munchies. I was here for some pamabazos and I can tell you they were ok, and satisfying.

I just moved into the area so far these are my favorite tacos although I am still looking for a place that does the al pastor «rotisserie» style. Nevertheless the tacos are still really good

Great huaraches and tacos. Great takeout too. They have awesome flautas and huevos rancheros. Decent chilaquiles too.

Empezaba a dudar de que existiera un buen Restaurant de comida mexicana… Pero que sorpresa me e llevado con este… Pedí mi tortas cubana o balderas y me la comí antes de contestar mi celular… Riquísima y realmente un sueño a mi paladar. Traía tanta hambre pues trabajó duro en este país para poder surgir… –Soy pintor y remodelados de casas — así que viendo otro comentario aquí en Unilocal sugería el taco de surtida… Nunca lo había oído! Lo pedí y la atención del cocinero y la cajera fue muy constructiva me explicaron que llevaba y por qué ase llamaba surtida… Lo pedí y cuando lo probé… Wow!!! En inglés is unbelievable!!! El sabor increíblemente sabroso que impacto en mi boca sabores recuerdos wow! Quisiera poder hacer esto en mi casa yo mismo cocinar este taquito. No se sí será muy difícil pues son varias carnes… Pero por lo pronto tengo un metro balderas cerca de mi… Lo que ya es y será una gran bendición de Dios! Alabado sea Jesus! El nos davlavinteligencia. Another good place for mexican street food :)
You gotta try the huaraches made with savory black beans, crumbly cotija cheese, delicious salsa verde and nice piece of this grilled steak. Oh damn I just drooled on key board…
The tacos are loaded up generously. Another favorite of mine is the chicken tostada. It is a light, crunchy and scrumptious meal. The chilaquiles are excellent for a Sunday cruda, you know what I mean? ;) I also like the shakes and flavored ice they serve.
Overall good stuff :)

I didn’t go here for the ambiance or service (although they were nice). I came here for the food. And honestly, I wasn’t too impressed. Maybe we all ordered the wrong thing. The chicken tortas were decent.
I didn’t try what the others suggested, being that I wasn’t craving anything too greasy. If I ever go back, I’ll try something new and maybe change my review. Till then my friend: three stars. And as always, happy feasting.
