I’m giving it one star because the place smells like trash. Because of the smell you start noticing its not as clean as it could be and you begin to worry about the food. Cleanliness is an easy problem to solve. Also the root beer must not have been mixed right because it tasted like cough syrup.

Too bad they closed this place down. The food was never really that great. We just came here for the root beer. At one point they would give the kids at Cerritos College a discount with their I.D.

This drive-thru is tucked in a strip mall frequented by Cerritos College students(10% discount with ID card) and shady guys in tank tops. The root beer floats are great with soft serve ice cream. If you dine in, you get the drinks and floats in a frosty cold mug. The dining area needs upgrading.

Lame no A/C just cheapy ceiling fans. I don’t love this place but since I can get a student discount, which isn’t that much, I’ll keep visiting for a quick bite,

Never tried the food here, because all I ever come here for is a root beer float. Need I say more? Side note: Smells a bit funky in the lobby… sour almost.

Why did it take me so long to find out about Cheese Curds??? Its like a yummier version of Mozzarella Sticks! Its White Cheddar, so there is a slight taste difference, the batter is smoother and not like italian bread crumbs… Dude, Cheese Curds are so much better! mMm~ I dipped them in ranch and washed it down with of course, a root beer! Go get some f’ing cheese curds! Oh and service here was actually really darn nice!

I love coming here after school is out and enjoying a large root beer float. Their papa burger and crispy chicken burger are among the greatest burgers I’ve ever had. They have cut up onions and jalapeños which is nice because I always need some spice in my food. Also their fries are nice and crispy, this is the place I go to when I want a really good burger

Review 350 They now accept debit and credit cards. I stopped going to them years ago because of too many penny scrapping incidents. Glad I haven’t missed much, they have only been accepting cards for two weeks. I’ll update with pictures a bit later. I have some shopping to do today.

Meh. Pricey for«fast» food(waited in the drive thru forever). Cash only(WHAT??) or suffer a fee & a $ 20 minimum on your card Not that great anymore. What roped me in were the fried cheese curds — but only because I was craving them at the OC Fair last year and there were none to be found, then I spotted the poster in A&W’s window. *insert Homer Simpson voice* mmmm… cheeeeese currrrrrds… Expensive craving to satisfy. = /

On my international flight to Hong Kong there was a connection/layover in Vancouver. In the international terminal sat an A & W restaurant. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, root beer, and fries. Not only the best airport food I’ve tasted, but arguably the best fast food. Root beer was so light and delicious, fries perfectly cooked, and a mouth watering chicken sandwich. Sadly my connection back dropped me in the domestic terminal which ended my A & W adventure. Well now you know the motivation for my visit so here, we, go… A & W Alondra Ordered a chicken sandwich, fries and of course, root beer A & W root beer is generally good, but this time seemed to bland and watery. Which is a shame because that root beer is the major force pushing that restaurant. Chicken sandwich was edible, but tasted like it was siting on the counter for a few hours. Got the sandwich down somehow(hunger makes you do strange things haha) ate a few fries and left the rest unfinished. Now the money situation. I get what some reviewers are saying about having cash on hand, but the reality is most consumers don’t carry much cash unless they have to. I’m of course part of that demographic. Our bill came out to 10.75 and I quickly handed over my card. The girl in the window quickly informed me she had to charge the card 20.00. I asked why, she said because they charge a dollar to use the ATM. Now, at first I thought she meant by charging my card 20.00 the 1.00 surcharge would be waived(like pay min or your card will be charged a dollar). Nope, not the case and the card was charged 21.00!!! Cash only is a little ridiculous especially for a syndicated chain like A & W root beer. I would expect it a smaller place mom & pop place. Frankly, I regret visiting and would advise you to avoid it. But if you love mediocre food and moronic behavior, then look no further.

I had a major flashback as soon as took a sip of the root beer float. It was like I was 7 years old again. All that’s missing was the girls on roller skates. I don’t understand all the bad reviews of this place. I had a good experience. The food was good and hot. The service was right on. And my food came out pretty quickly. The price is just right too. With their $ 3 meals you can’t go wrong. That’s why it’s filled with kids from the college down the street. Do I recomend this place? Oh yeah. If you remember having A & W as a kid, come and get it again. And relive the good ol’ days.

How could you do this to me, A&W? Yes, I’m taking this personal because I’ve loved A&W for as long as I can remember, even ditching Sarsi for it. But boy has the quality of their restaurants deteriorated over the years. First of all, what’s the deal with not accepting credit cards? A chain place that only takes cash? Really!!! Fine, like John W. I was ready to get over this hurdle to enjoy an old-time favorite. Sadly, there was nothing to enjoy and this place ain’t worth getting bank charges for. I’d rather just buy vanilla ice cream and a can of A&W rootbeer. Somebody get me that cool looking mug for my birthday, please?

FAILFAILFAILFAILFAILFAIL! If you know me, I don’t really give out 1 start reviews… unless they deserve it. So… A & W is something I grew up on. It’s one of my old favorite«go to» spots after a day of playing baseball or riding bikes with my friends and going off jumps or throwing rocks at girls. It was an old favorite of mine… that was all shattered and broken upon my last visit. FAIL. I haven’t hit an A & W in a good long time. So once the craving for a frosty mug of love came over me, I grabbed my girl and we quickly hit the local shop. It was so nice to have one close to my house. FAIL. Here is the play by play: — Walk in… very dirty. — Walk up to the counter… no one there. — We wait… not cool. — Prices are high but… hey it’s an old favorite. — Finally someone arrives to take our order… not very helpful or friendly. — As we are deciding what to get, I notice they don’t take card payments. — Oh, but wait, she explains that there is a machine off to the side that will take your bank card, and change you a MINIMUM of 10 bucks… plus 1 buck to use the stupid machine… plus my bank charge too!!! A & W… wtf happened to your friendly and family oriented service?! FAIL We walked on on this joint and didn’t even eat here. So before you judge me for reviewing a place without eating at it, just know that if you want to drop 10 bucks for a 3 buck shake, get charged a buck for the machine use… and pay your bank fees… then you be my guest. FAIL But this is a word of warning to the more frugal type. FAIL. FAIL.

We were driving by & without a word, my hubby pulled in to the parking lot. He figured he deserved a treat since he lost 32 pounds over the last 3 months. Root beer floats in frosty mugs! Bad for me, but no way was I going to be left out this time. I couldn’t resist. We were both sitting in there giggling like giddy teenagers.

This place is awesome! Ok first there are not very many A&W restaurants around this area. So it’s a real treat to find one. The food here is good. They fry everything together by the way so you do get a slight fish taste to some of the fried products. They have a «regional favorites» menu which includes taquitos which are one of my favorite items here. The fry’s are good, burgers as well. The hot dogs could be better but they have awesome milk shakes. A large milk shake actually comes in a large drink cup, not a small like most places. The A&W Root Beer is their staple here, unfortunately it’s not like it used to be. You used to get soda fountain style root beer that tasted so amazingly fresh it was a treat to go there. Now it comes out of a standard self serve fountain, and just isn’t the same. It has a few arcade games and a decent sized dining area. If you are a Cerritos College student you get a 10% discount. They take Debit cards but charge a large fee to use them. All in all its a good place to grab a quick bite to eat. The burger tastes like a burger not cardboard like Mc Donalds, and its one of the only Old School style burger places around.

Burgers, dogs fries, rings were all good, but it was the Floats that stand out, and this from a person who does not even like root beer much. I should go back and try thier ice cream one day. The seating and parking was adequate, never overcrowded. Very convenient place since it is next to a gas station and very close to the 605 and 91 freeways.

The heifer has found a new watering hole. the water is flowing with root beer floats made with soft serve. I only had chicken burger and fries, and admittedly they are not that amazing, but they’re cheap and I got what paid for in terms of fast food. The star item is the float, which costed as much as my meal but certainly worth it. I liked the variety of finger foods not normally found elsewhere at your typical mcdonalds and burger king, so it was certainly a nice change of pace. I can’t wait to revisit next time my hunger pangs come a callin’ woop woop! here it comes! **MOOOOoooo**
