I went in yesterday and ordered a short stack of french toast(and got a full serving). Than the waitress asked what i wanted on the side(made it sound like it was included in the price) and got charged $ 3.00 extra for 3 pieces of bacon. My fiancé got a waffle with just nutella and whip cream and same thing she asked what side. he asked if they had turkey bacon which they did so that was a plus. The food did come out quick tho it didnt have much flavor. The waitress was okay she kept hovering a lot waiting to drop the check right after our meals came out. All in all not somewhere I would go again. Pros: quick service ok flavor Cons: $ 30 for 1 waffle, french toast, bacon, turkey bacon, a chocolate milk and coffee. poor service, and a not to friendly environment

Been there before. Was just ok. Last weekend ordered omelette. Was dry. Friend had 2 pieces French toast 3 strips bacon. Not too bad. Asked for Maple syrup. Waitress said extra. But $ 3 for extra? Cashier apologized and heard this before. Why not be more reasonable? $ 11.50 for French toast bacon Maple syrup. Cya

I had been here a while back with my son and both had different versions of their Eggs Benedict. We both enjoyed the dishes immensely. Done perfectly with very flavorful potatoes. Stopped by at midnight tonight and glad to find them open ready to serve! I ordered an omelette and was just a tad disappointed when it came out looking like a pancake turned into an omelette — probably cooked on the grill instead of properly in an omelette pan. However after the initial sigh of disappointment one taste and my faith was restored. Very nice with a good portion of ham and great tasting blend of cheeses. Left happy and satisfied. Service can be spotty but for a nice feed this is a good place. 3 stars overall — 4 stars for a diner.

Good diner. Good diner food. Wait staff can be a little pokey sometimes, and it’s not open 24 hours, so I’m deducting a star. Highly recommended anyway.

I checked this place out after a bouncer told me and my girls check it out. The décor was outdated, but so are diners right? The staff was really cool. They were dressed in bow ties. We had Maria. She was so cute and good to us. I ordered an omelet and it was pretty good considering it’s an omelet. My girls ordered breakfast and lamp chops of all things. They had no complaints with their meals. One of my girls said that the desert was stale. Overall, I would return because I like diners, good omelets and good customer service.

Only giving it a 3 due to no half stars… I ordered the tuna salad club and fries. And as a dessert a slice of chocolate cake The tuna salad had more water then mayo and was hard to eat as it dripped everywhere. The french fries we’re steak fries which I’m not a big fan of and only received small child’s handful The chocolate cake I believe was a either a day old or close to it, and the cake itself taste like nothing. My waiter was friendly and checked on me numerous of times. Would I return to give them a second chance??? Yes

As others have said, I feel bad giving it anything less than praise, since I’ve been going here since high school, but it just doesn’t stack up anymore. The décor is horrible. The food is mediocre at BEST, and overpriced — big time. The service is decent, and I would never penalize the servers for less than stellar food, so on my last visit I left a 20% tip. Overall, it just can’t keep up with other places, some in the area, some not. Drive across town and hit Post Road Diner for better food.

This place is from my childhood so I feel bad giving it a bad review… But what the hell happened?! Penny’s prices have sky rocked to unjustifiable levels and the quality of the food has gone down the toilet. If you’re going to use Kraft syrup don’t advertise it, don’t give me the things of Kraft syrup, it just shows your cheap and lazy. Cheap because Kraft cost close to nothing, and lazy because you could just fill them in syrup dispensers and then I would of at least not of known that I was eating garbage. My eggs were tasteless, rubbery, and luke warm. My bacon was flimsy and under cooked. They’re french toast must be frozen trash because it was overly chewy and gross. The waiter also brought me a full stack instead of a short stack which makes a significant price difference. The regulars here are also extremely annoying for some bizarre reason: playing loud annoying music on their phones, yelling gross and ignorant things, and just all around acting just awful. I know that it’s a diner, but it’s a Wednesday morning, I have some decency! There’s only two waiters I really like; they’re the reason I would keep coming back, but I haven’t seen either on of them in months. I’d say that I’d give Penny’s another chance. But I’ve given this place at least ten, and it’s only getting worse. Disappointed, angry, and screwed are the three words I would use to describe my experience. I should not have to pay $ 10 for a garbage breakfast. I could get an amazing breakfast at the Spread on Sundays or at basically any other place Norwalk for the same price. Hell, even Denny’s is more presentable and tastier than this joint, and that’s saying something! So disappointed Penny’s… I had a soft spot for you in my heart. Another childhood favorite down the drain like creepy teachers that I thought were nice or microwave fish sticks. :(

Classic diner stuck in a time warp. Encyclopedic menu. You can feel the history. The food is pretty good

Been here multiple times — the brunch is amazing, Eggs Rose Cliff is a must. It is consistently good and the service is fine. The wait staff is nice and do their job well. The guy at the checkout is always very nice and helpful, he once split our check 4 ways with different amounts which is annoying but he did it with a smile and always tells a joke. Appetizers are all good, if it is fried you should order it. I usually go here for breakfast meals and any form of the eggs Benedict is perfection, even when taking out. Great diner.

Awful service. I entered with a friend and we were seated. 10 min latter we left. No one came to the table. No one asked us why we were leaving. Must be good to have so much business that you can afford to let people leave unattended. I’ll never be back.

Went over there for breakfast and was seated by a rude hostess I guess they only serve breakfast because we’re only giving a breakfast Menu. . Didn’t like the omelet and coffee was bland

Perfect veggie omlette. Choc chip pancake very fine. Fresh iced tea was a tad weak. Waiter was quick and polite.

This was my first time here and unfortunately, this was probably my last. I was very pleased with my meal and with our server, however, I was not so happy with the attitude of the host. As I was leaving a generous tip for our server, the host made a comment to my boyfriend about«women and math.» It was off color and unamusing. I’m no longer interested in eating at an establishment whose views on gender equality are about as outdated as their décor.

Good diner. Doesn’t have any spectacular dishes, but what they serve is done well. They have gotten a little pricey, but for their chicken soup and split pea soup, ill pay anything. The place does need to be updated a bit. Not very modern. Never had to experience a wait time with them. They are quick to accommodate you as soon as you walk in the door.

It’s really hard to suck at 2 a.m. but Penny’s managed it. The place is falling apart. And that was the highlight. The food across the board was mediocre to lousy, tending to lousy. First time here in a few years. Last time.

So many fond memories from those good ol’ high school days. We stopped into Penny’s for a late night snack after a few beers at The Gingerman. After ending up here so many times over the years, I find it hard to judge a diner by their wings. Plainly put, not very good, but I tried my luck anyway. I’ll highlight some of the tastier options. From past experiences, I know that Penny’s has some fabulous breakfasts, decent desserts, and tasty appetizers(anything fried is a good bet, really). Service is hit or miss, but we had quite the pleasant waitress this evening. Overall, it’s a late-night diner. Don’t expect anything too over the top. For a midnight snack or a mid-morning breakfast, it’s A-Ok.

There’s a lot more to Penny’s Diner than meets the eye. This is hidden gem is tucked away just an hour outside of the City. I recommend the Metronorth train service from Grand Central. Upon entering you’re greeted by a mysterious middle aged man who will escort you to your exotic double seater booth. Then the fun starts. The waiters here must be stand up comics because they are HILARIOUS. Judging by the décor I wouldn’t be suprised if this place transforms into an underground nightclub for New York’s social elite wishing to spend a Wednesday night under the radar. I will be having my wedding here!

Was there yesterday and wasn’t thrilled. I guess we’re used to the diners in Central Connecticut. The waitress was fast and not as social as others, though she did walk around and ask if everything was okay a few times. which was nice. Breakfast, we were only offered their breakfast menu. Most diners have 5 pages off food ranging from breakfast-lunch-dinner, so I wasn’t sure if this was even a 24 hour diner. Being that, it was easier to pick out your food but always so much that sounded so good… My omelet was pretty good, they call it the Anthenium. They fill it with a ton of spinach, feta cheese, scallions and more! It was very good. I think everyone else in our party was happy too… though my wife did say she’d rate the food a ‘4’ out of 10. Penny’s Diner & Restaurant offered a pleasant atmosphere(with lots of mirrors, which I could do without) and nice diner chandeliers. The staff was pleasant, and the cost was what we expected to pay for a diner. One small note, if this is your first time, when you walk in, there are two completely different sections to this diner. Look first left then right, to decide which is more pleasing… Lastly, there were aprox. four other diners within our 3.1 mile radius. I wonder if the other diners would offer a better or worse experience”? Only time will tell.:)

I tried it for breakfast with my son. The staff was so nice and the inside/outside is your traditional diner set up. The food was FANTASTIC! We will be going back!
