They are good. I wouldn’t make it a habit to go because it’s also very oily. I have an issue with not washing hands in the kitchen and I have never seen any worker wash their hands. To top that off the woman in the back cooking was on her phone one day while she was cooking. GROSS! The owner is very nice though. I can give them that!

I had not been to Ben’s and years and they certainly did not disappoint. I had my usual Cheeseburger, grilled onions, extra pickles, with french fries, and soda! Delish!

Seems like the prices are higher then items are priced on the menu but pretty much every thing on the menu is good no complaints. Going to come back and try the breakfast

This is a staple in the East Oakland neighborhood. I’ve been going there off and on since my childhood, and it has changed ownership maybe 3 – 4 times over 23 years. Not too shabby for its history. Their cheeseburgers and really good and always have that old school diner feel. I happen to love Ben’s chicken strips & fries, super yummy! Nice large pieces of chicken and freshly breaded. Really good. Fries are pretty generic, and don’t compare to its competition down the street that starts with a J, but I prefer Ben’s any day! Their hours change and they don’t stay open as late as a burger joint should, but a mid-day lunch is always available.

My friends that grew up out here say this is the best burger joint in East Oakland… ummmm, they’re wrong. Pros: — Their Medium Fries(4 stars), are bigger than a large anywhere else(Feels like I might have said this before about another burger joint here in East Oakland) Not So Pro: — The ¼ lb Burger w/Cheese(3 stars) was decent, but that’s it. I’d probably give another ½ star if the onion wasn’t as thick as the burger patty — The Bowl of Chili(3 stars) would have been better with cheese, but the way they made it reminds me of elementary school cafeteria chili Cons: — DIRTY. I’m not just talking about the tables and floor, I’m saying you can tell that this place hasn’t seen a good cleaning in a LONG time. At least with all the food on the empty tables and on the floor, the flies in there leave you alone while you’re eating — Some random guy walked in, got toilet paper from the girl behind the counter, hit the bathroom for 10 minutes, then left… Just stoppin’ by for a sh*t-break So far, Chubby Freeze on Hegenberger is the top burger joint I’ve been to on this side of town

Burger patty was thin but overall it was okay. I might be back for breakfast.

3.5 stars to be exact. Gotta love Bens. Whenever I’ve eaten a breakfast sandwich from here, it reminds me of one that would be made at the house. Yum in the tum. This evening I devoured the bacon cheese burger with my bacon cooked medium. It was cooked to my liking. However after all these years you would think that they would have another option of cheeses besides American. And some might not care but when you are a burger joint, red onion should definitely be the choice instead of regular olé onions. But I love ya Bens and I’ll see you in a few

I cannot wait to come home and get my hands on a Ben’s burger. they are hella good! Atlanta has some cool places, but none that remind me of Ben’s. I could eat here everyday!

Ok so I’ve been coming here for as long as I can remember and although the place itself is a little run down and its a lot of ratchet people that come to this establishment they still have the best burgers around. I will travel all the way from union city just for one of their burgers. Whoever says their burgers are dry is a lie.

As far as I can remember this place has been around for AGES… It looks like it changed ownership, changed the burger buns, but still decent. Fries are crispy and hot! It’s still ghetto as I rememebered it back in the days. It looks like they got rid of the pac man game, they have other games on the other side, but nothing beats pacman.

Finally got a chance to visit Ben’s Burgers after hearing rave word of mouth reviews from Oakland natives. Now I know E-40 shot his vid here… thus heightening its hype. I had high expectations for this place but it didn’t live up to it for me. First of all the place looks hella grimy. Don’t get me wrong– I know the hole-in-the-wall places are usually the best… but I couldn’t help but think the guy in the back making my burger probably hadn’t washed his hands all day. Ick. Overall, this place gets 2 from me. but the Banana Nut milkshake bumps it up to 3. bomb! Would come back here for a milkshake any day… yee!

The chinese-style hamburgers(ala Beeps/Whiz/BJs) are great. A good time on a warm day, come out here and have a burger.

this place looks like a converted foster’s freeze and they now sell breakfast, ice cream, burgers, and fries. had the #1 combo(5.35) which consisted of ¼ burger, fries, and large soda. –burger had a few shreds of lettuce, one slice of tomato, mayo and a few pickles. the burger was very dry, no juice. obviously these were frozen patties before. –fries from previously frozen fries were crispy but soggy and mushy. was the oil not hot enough? the korean youngster at the register was busy gaming but he was able to service the patrons. nice to have a job which allows you to play games while getting paid.

Grilled Chicken Sandwich with grilled onions(light on the mayo), fries and a Strawberry soda in a To go box…. That’s all I get! So whenever I want to act like my teenager and get my hyphie on.(I bet I didn’t even spell it right) anyhoo I head on down to Bens Burger sit up in E-40’s table after I ordered my food, and WATCH my back from the left to the right now dip baby! cause Man that is my old stomping grounds and you never know who you run up into there… So when they call my number I go and season up my fries apply the necessary ketchup to my chicken sandwich and fries and head on back to the Tahoe, and flip up the center counsel and slide that to go box up in there, change station to KMEL and make it do what it do and ride the strip on back to my side… Cause while I am on MacArthur Blvd, gotta survey what’s going on thru da town.

I walked in, ready to spend my cash on lunch. But I was gobsmacked by the foul odor of rancid french fry grease, so I turned around and left.
