I stopped in hoping for a good vegetarian tofu dish and wasn’t disappointed, the braised tofu is really nice. Lots of fried tofu in yummy brown sauce with a generous amount of whole shiitake mushrooms, carrots, and bok choy. Good prices, friendly staff, fast service. Will be back.

First visit to Happy Garden last night with my daughter(who is, unfortunately, a fan of chain restaurants), and from the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles. Quick service, delicious food, cold beer, but most importantly, the kiddo was treated with such kindness from our waitress. Check out their«chef’s special» menu, great seafood variety.

This is my go to restaurant whenever I feel eating Chinese. The salted fish chicken fried rice and Mongolian beef are my two favorite items. Good service although there’s the language barrier which makes the ordering quite difficult sometimes. But overall, I give it 4 stars.

After over 10 years, I won’t be coming here any more. They did not have brown rice ready when I phoned in. Made me wait 20 minutes while other food got cold. That would have been OK, but they handled it very poorly and with no regard to customer service or satisfaction. I won’t be back.

The absolute cleanest dining room I’ve ever seen in a Chinese restaurant, paired with fantastic food, friendly staff and fresh seafood in water tanks makes for a wonderful Chinese dining experience. Oh, did I mention their portions are huge? Well, they are. Monstrous, even. Great space, great food, smiling staff, huge portions, and reasonable prices — definitely worth checking out!

I don’t want to give it 5 stars because, it’s not the best Chinese food you’ll ever have in your life. That said, it’s consistently good quality. Their shrimp chowfun with runny egg gravy is incredible(a special order I have had disastrous results with elsewhere) and highly recommended, and their portions are huge(which is fair to match their price.) I go here all the time because of its proximity to my house and get the shrimp chowfun w/egg almost every single time, but I also really enjoy their walnut shrimp and clams in black bean sauce. EDIT I’m updating the review to 5 stars because I finally did dine-in.(Every other time was take-out). I was sharing dinner with my parents. The chowfun I mentioned before seemed like an even bigger portion. They didn’t have salt and pepper chicken on their menu for some reason, but happily offered it to my stepmom. They were super accommodating and their potions were so big when dining in! We were happy with everything I ordered. One might be concerned because their place is usually pretty empty, but I was so happy with it I really wanted to improve my review.

my friend recommended this place as she likes their fried won tons… she was right. We came here for lunch and shared a kung pao chicken(lots of chicken pieces and veggies) rice plate which came with soup and veggie eggroll, along with the fried won tons. Good portion for 2 people with hot and sour soup. fried won ton with pork with sweet and sour dipping sauce… reasonably priced… place is huge with large round tables set for a banquet and a little dated. Eh, who cares, the food is good and service quick. Located across from Peter’s Kettle Korn so stop here and then head over for dessert across the street!

We have been going there for many years. In fact, the owner & i joke about how our boys grow up on their food. Well. honestly, there were many evenings of exhaustion and they saved the days with their awesome take out service. Call and food is ready in 15 min or less. Sure bets are their sautéed green beans, salt-pepeer prawns/fish/spareribs, and honey walnut prawns. Pay special attention to their Hong Kong style pan-fried noodles, which they do an excellent job with pan-frying both sides. For dining in, do ask the owner for their house soup, changes seasonally, and does not have MSG. Food is definitely OK, and we a fan because they have been consistent with food quality, taste and service.

This place is pretty good & convenient for me since I live in the neighborhood. The honey walnut prawns & sautéed green string beans are one of the best things on their menu, IMHO. They have your order ready in 15 mins if you phone in for pick up. The quality of their dishes are great and not super oily and fast food like compared to other chinese restaurants. It’s a little cute neighborhood restaurant & the staff is nice.

It wasn’t bad… wasn’t great. I’m not a huge chinese food fan though. Lots of food for a little price. There was a hair in our dish and they brought out a new one. Very nice staff.

This place is great! I recently discovered this place which happens to be in the neighborhood I have always lived in and I’m not sure how I had missed it. It’s cheap and offers good quality fast Chinese food. I’m usually very picky with my Chinese food, but this place doesn’t let their food get cold in the buffet trays, they are constantly changing the food trays and it doesn’t make you feel yucky when you are done eating, like other Chinese fast-food restaurants do! Plus it’s super clean and the employees are friendly.

We’ve been ordering here for years. Not sure why this is the first Unilocal review I’ve done. We always order togo and it’s always fast and easy to pick up. Out favorites are General’s chicken, chicken with green beans, pork fried rice, pot stickers, hot mustard. They give you a lot of food so what’s not eaten that night will be a nice lunch the next day. The staff(family) are always nice and really love talking with them and saying hi. Good people who serve great food.

The orange chicken was indedible — the sauce tasted like marmalade, the batter was very sweet and had a very off flavor that I couldn’t put my finger on, and the chicken was tough. The greens in garlic sauce were reasonably decent. I’m hoping another trip would bring a better experience, but with all the options in Oakland, I won’t be coming back

For affordable Chinese food this place is a great find. They have a lot of good lunch specials to choose from between five and seven dollars, and an impressive variety of food on the menu. Today we had their wonton soup which was excellent, with lots of fresh vegetables and freshly cooked wontons. I tried the dry tofu with cod fillet lunch special, which was good. We also got Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and toasted sesame oil, one of our favorites. Plus we got an order of steamed pork buns and steam Lotus buns, also freshly made. Our server was very friendly and nice to talk to. Great neighborhood place.

My family loves this place. We’ve gone for multiple birthdays. The ladies are so sweet. Once they’re comfortable they can be really close n touchy, so if you don’t like that just sit away lol but we love em. They have great food. Walnut shrimp, crab butterfly, shrimp fried rice is my main go to meal. They’re FANTASTIC with allergies. I have a soy allergy and gluten allergy and they let me know what I can have and what they can adjust. When I cheat on gluten I get soy free chow mein. Pretty good substitute. My cousin has seafood and peanut allergies and they make all needed adjustments. Give em a try! :)

Forgot I went here. That oughtta tell you something. I had their sesame chicken which was like none other I’ve tried before… in sort of a good-bad way. I honestly didn’t know how to feel about it… it was different and didn’t taste like sesame chicken I’ve tried at other places. I wouldn’t go back. Just saying. It was a one time thing. It was okay tasting, somehow I finished it all so. Also she brought me pretty quickly that it was somewhat scary. It just told me that it wasn’t cooked fresh to order. Oh well…

I was here yesterday with my boyfriend, first time. The lady’s were super sweet and explained a lot of their dishes to us we were super lost! This is what we got We had the chicken rice It was ok, the chicken didn’t really taste like chicken it was not fully cooked so it tasted kind of weird. Shrimp chow main It was yummy only like 3 shrimps for the whole thing ;( Walnut shrimp It was good kind of pricey but worth it, a little crunchy and lots of walnuts! Broccoli beef The beef was super thin and A little salty The broccoli was crispy which was good! I think I will never go back!

Today I worked a Double Shift. I wanted a Special Dinner since it was Fathers Day. My Dad always believed in eating well and I agree and try to do the same. I rolled to Happy Garden I ordered the Lobster in Ginger and Garlic sauce and the Salt and Pepper Spareribs. My Server gave me the remote to the TV. I tuned into the House Wives Of New Jersey . My Lobster and Salt and Pepper Spareribs were brought out at the same time with a pot of Brown rice. The Lobster was Off the Hook Good and the Spareribs were Tender and Tasty. Service was great as usual.
