I followed her there from the now-​closed Alexander Pope salon, where I’d had a mixed experience with different stylists before finding Kaitrin, my best guess is 11 years or so ago. She’s creative and flexible, and always so friendly and personable. Going to my regular appointment with her is like a mini vacation, relaxing and revitalizing. I would recommend her to anyone!

Kaitrin is my hair goddess/​guru she is AHMAZING at what she does! I found her at Future back in Feb she fit me in same day and did a fabulous job on my locks. She great at her craft and is very knowledgeable at new techniques. I came to her for baylage highlight and she blew my expectations out of the water. It was worth the 3 hours. Great conversation. Kaitrin has been my stylist for over five years. I’m a pretty picky customer, but what keeps me coming back is that she adapts my hairstyle based on my current interests. She listens carefully to my requests, and creates looks that work with my hair type. Thanks to the cuts she gives and the products she recommends, my hair has been… transformed really. It used to have a lot of frizz and no real shape — now it has a defined shape that includes controlled waves.
On top of great service, Kaitrin offers a wonderful environment, from thoughtfully listening to how my day is going, to her offer of chilled soda water or sparkling wine, to an aromatic shoulder wrap. Future is a relaxing place to spend an hour, and I find that I always leave feeling rejuvenated. And, with their great location on College Ave, I often enjoy a post-​haircut stroll through Rockridge usually stopping for a delicious decaf mocha at Bittersweet, or to pick up a gift at Rockridge Home.
I highly recommend Kaitrin, and I’m glad to support her as stylist-​owner and an Oakland local business.

I found Kaitrin after calling Future hoping to find someone to take me day of (long shot, I know) to color and re-​tame my ombré, blonde, black and roots. They were booked through the next week but told me there was a slot for consult, which I took hoping to get a quicker appointment. Kaitrin saw me right before closing and thoroughly went through several different options with me. She was direct, upfront, and set me straight with some realistic expectations while still being encouraging. She made some suggestions that were completely different from what I thought I wanted but were thought out and considerate. I most appreciate that she took the time to go over exactly what she would be willing and able to do, instead of simply «ok-​ing» my suggestion «blonde!» lol, it felt like she carried integrity for her work and wasn’t going to let me get away with any false expectations. She set an appointment with me the next day that went on far beyond closing (I had a lot of hair and chemicals going on) but she took her time and didn’t seem rushed at all. It’ wasn’t cheap but completely in line with salons up and down the street, and she worked within my budget.
She was easy to talk to, down to earth, and real. She had a creative edge with some real experience to back it up, I would have never come up with it on my own but my hair looks great. I know it’s kind of the job description (although rarely the case) but I trust her! I’m so pleased with the results and for the first time in a while I expect I to return. :) I have already received many compliments and highly recommend her to anyone!

Oh my goodness I have been getting my hair done with Kaitrin for 14 years– we figured that out the other day. She is creative, talented and meticulous in cutting and coloring my hair. My teenage children get their hair done there too and my husband would too — but he is just about bald.
I get so many compliments in my hair and I refer people to Kaitrin all the time.

Kaitrin has the intuition, creativity and technical skills of a true artisan — and she is completely authentic and professional as well. She is respectful of my preferences, and never pressures me if I feel I only want to make sporadic appointments, yet she artfully and expertly takes care of me every time I see her.
The salon is awesome, too — the environment is lovely, and there’s usually some awesome 80’s playlist floating through the air. I love being able to hear my favorite Cure songs while sipping sparkling wine and getting my hair done!

Kaitrin is that rare hair stylist who is not only very talented, creative, and knowledgeable about her craft, but extremely easy and pleasant to work with. She listens well and takes my requests and preference into account, then diplomatically adds her own professional input and guidance. I work as an image consultant and have also recommended my own clients to her, which is an indication of my trust of and esteem for Kaitrin. I can’t recommend her highly enough for both styling and color.
