This is a nice dinner place. Dress is not casual. I would call and make a reservation. The service was prompt and very friendly. The food was prepared well and was delicious. Little pricey. They bring out fantastic rolls with butter to start. Main course took a little while to come out which is why this is a 4 star.

Service Food Hostess Bar Manager They plated our phone order and sat us at a table right before close. My birthday started out down and finished up partly because of my experience here! My boyfriend had the crab cakes and loved it, I had the 8oz fillet-DELISH! Definitely come here for dinner and see BRITTANY at the bar for help if you’re ever here in the OC.

Here for work from Cincinnati. Glad I came here for dinner. Had a filet(blackened over a Boursin cream sauce), and it was fine. I’m not going to say great, because I’ve had great steaks, and this wasn’t quite up there. But, it was very good and I wasn’t disappointed. The interior is not what you’d expect from the outside. It’s quite nice, and if you can catch the sunset on a clear night, it’s gorgeous. After my meal, one of the managers poured me a glass of wine to taste that one of his reps dropped off, so that was nice. I’d suggest this restaurant to friends. I should add that they have a nice bar area that’s very suitable for solo dining.

We spilt an order of the fried green tomatoes. Nothing like I’ve ever had before and would drive the three hours to ocean city just for those! I ordered the duck and momma dukes got the salmon. The duck was cooked to perfection and the mashed potatoes and other sides complimented the dish so well. Mom says the salmon is the best she’s ever had. Gotta take her word for it as I do not like salmon. Sat at the bar and service was fast as the bartender was super personal and the mgr even came over to say hello. So nice to have a great meal with breath taking views. Will definitely be visiting again and recommending to friends back home!

Excellent Anniversary dinner. It was restaurant week so we took advantage of the 3 course meal for $ 35. My husband got potato soup, crab cake and Mary’s delight for dessert. I had the orange poppyseed salad, crab cake and crème brûlée. Everything was delish! The Hobbit used to be our go to place years ago. Had not been there since it has been rebuilt. Beautiful. Great place for sunset. John, our waiter, did an excellent job!

What a disappointment our anniversary dinner turned out to be. My poor beau, he scoured Unilocal reviews to find the perfect spot for our romantic dinner, one that we had not been to yet at OCMD. What a total let down food wise. The only saving grace was the amazing server, views, and the floor manager. Our reservation was found easily and we were lead through the beautiful bar area, into the main dining area. While we did get a window view, it was the last table — behind a column and a super super tight squeeze. There really isn’t a bad view in the house, as the all glass windows allow for amazing views seated anywhere. The whole restaurant is tastefully decorated and does ooze a level of «fancy» — our table was just too squished to be all that comfortable. We figured the food would make up for it! Our server was a kind and friendly woman, who greeted us somewhat promptly with warm fresh bread, butter. and ice water. I wasn’t a fan of the bread, too soft for my tastes and lots of left over flour left on the bread. To the point where first bite, your tongue hits the flour and instantly dries your mouth. The crab bisque soup was like taking a hit off a salt lick. So much salt, to the point where I felt like it was a vomit inducing cocktail. I tried to fish out the crab, and just eat that — but it tasted like«ammonia» unfortunately. As I was an avid little crabber when I was a teenager on summer vacations, I know that some older crabs just naturally can taste like ammonia — but it was too much after the saltiness and I couldn’t help but wonder if they used more salt in the soup to try and mask the«ammonia» crab. When the server returned I told her I was done with the soup, she asked if something was wrong as I hardly touched it. I explained, that for my taste preference, it was way too salty and didn’t mention anything about the crab taste. She apologized and took the soup away. I didn’t ask for it to be taken off the bill, I’m not like that typically — but she came back and let us know it was taken off the bill. Nice. Bf had the lamb chop lollypops — small, under seasoned but they were only passable compared to lamb chops we had earlier in our trip.(Longboard Café had killer lamb chops, had them on our first night in town!) Mains were the catch special, and a filet. The catch special was a white fish in a thai sauce over jasmine rice. It was only okay. Not a lot of textures on the plate other than just soft. A crunchy veg would have been nice. But wilted spinach, soft white fish, soft jasmine rice, and smooth sauce. Sigh. Flavor was only okay, slightly thai’ish flavors but it fell short. Beau’s filet was cold. It was ordered medium rare, it was cooked nice — but they let it «rest» way too long. We eat a lot of steak and are accustom to red warm center as medium rare. While his potatoes and green beans were piping hot, the steak was unfortunately completely cold. Joked with each other and said he should put the filet on the potatoes and beans on the top and it would warm up his steak. But our momma’s taught us not to play with our food… The manager did come over to talk to us. We didn’t ask to speak to him, we were just trying to make the best of the night and not make our server feel too bad(we didn’t complain about the steak being cold, cause it was cooked good) So we made sure to let him know its not fault of the server, we understand it’s off season, so on so on and we weren’t looking for things to be taken off the bill etc.(we didn’t want to be THAT couple) He did mention that he does hear that the crab soup is salty from some patrons, that the restaurant uses a very traditional recipe. Tradition or not, if patrons are complaining about the salt level, wouldn’t it be adjusted? I bit my tongue. In the end the manager, insisted that he let us have dessert on the house, which was very sweet of him.(we did not mention the entire time to the server or the manager that it was our anniversary either) The layered ice cream dessert was good. So maybe a sit at the bar, overlooking the bay and having dessert is the way to go. The server and manager urged us to give them another visit at a later time, but I don’t think we will as we know of more consistent spots of the same«caliber» during off season and summer.

Food was average but overpriced for the quality received. My pork chop was under seasoned with apples not cooked; wife chicken dry, $ 6:50 for a can of beer– not chilled. Salad ok. Will not return

Beautiful décor. Beautiful view of wetlands and the bay. Best food we’ve had in Ocean City, but we had two appetizers each and no entre. Loved the crab soup. Mary’s Delight for dessert was essentially chocolate ice-box pie for two, but better. Service was a little slow. Huge plate glass windows make it too noisy if you want a quiet relaxing or romantic atmosphere.

The view is amazing since the entire wall is covered by windows, even if you are not seated by the window you can still enjoy the spectacular view and the sunset was amazing. This place is pricey. The portions are on the small side. Do not expect diner portions or quality. This is a bit more upscale place. The tuna tartar and the crab stack were amazing and I wish they were bigger. The deserts were amazing. European style light cakes mouse cakes.

This was my first time at this restaurant and can honestly say it was a pleasant surprise. They were very accommodating for a party of 7 with last minute reservations. Service was impeccable. The view was breath-taking!!! It is the eastern shore rendition of the chart house in Weehawken, New Jersey. For our appetizers we had the Maryland crab dip, clams, and calamari— all were amazing. For my entrée I had a seafood pasta(clams, mussels, salmon, and fish) in a marinara sauce. It was delicious and everyone else appeared to have enjoyed their meals. If you are looking for an intimate place to have a dinner, this is definitely a must try!

I made reservations weeks in advance for my parents 40th anniversary dinner. As Unilocal suggested I requested a table at the window and confirmed that request the day before. We arrived and had to wait 30 minutes despite most of the restaurant being empty. When we finally got seated we were put in a middle table, not by the window and there was empty tables by the window that were reserved for later reservations… Two of the chairs were disgusting and covered in left over food and the floor under the table had a huge chunk of meat and crackers. But once we got over the initial upset, we were offered a free round of drinks, we had excellent service by the waitress and the food was delicious. I had the seared tuna, the cherry salad and the garlic spread. All 3 were excellent. The view was nice and we got to watch the sun set which was beautiful. I just wish it hadn’t started out so unpleasant.

Bring back the old Hobbit. This one is now snooty, overpriced, and, if one is permitted to judge the food by the quality of the soup(cold) and salad(dry and full of romaine ribs) — not worth the money. We had a 8:00 pm dinner reservation for a table to view the sunset. After arrival, we were escorted to a table waaay in the back with — you guessed it – no sunset view. After being so underwhelmed with our openers, we opted to leave before being further disappointed. As it was, soup, salad and a glass of wine came to over $ 60.00. The old location was charming, whimsical and actually offered a unique and satisfying dining experience. This one appears to cater to the wealthy residents of the Rivendell condos it is now located in, which really means the Hobbit doesn’t have to try too hard to impress. Our meal the next night at Fager’s Island was infinitely better… and oh yes, we didn’t stop after the appetizers either.

Outstanding view and delicious food! Went here on the 4th of July and got a table right by the window. We were seated just in time to see the sunset and what a spectacular view. Loved it! We were able to see fireworks in both directions — it was amazing. The food was also great! We got the Cream of Crab soup which was very flavorful and the lump crabmeat was delicious. We got the filet mignon(simply grilled version) with mashed potatoes and the french chicken with the quinoa. Both were cooked perfectly and I left wanting more since it was so delectable. A must try if you’re going to OC.

For those individuals searching for a restaurant adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels… you might be in for a bit of a surprise, especially with the relative absence of ents, elves and dwarves. Nonetheless, the view of the bay is astonishing especially at sunset. Most of the tables have a spectacular view of the bay, and The Hobbit has an outdoor access door in case you want a picture of the delightful reds, oranges and purples that blaze across the sky during this time. The Hobbit does not disappoint with its culinary options either — their avocado and crab appetizer was light, refreshing and positively devoured prior to our main course. The Traditional Cioppino was out of this world, and begged the question, is it appropriate to dip bread into the remaining sauce that underlies this dish? Why, yes… yes it is. Don’t judge me. I think you’ll find that soaking up all that wholesome goodness is worth a few odd looks from other patrons. And I promise you, they’re just better at hiding their bread soaking than you happen to be. Expect to pay a few extra dollars(although the wine was very reasonably priced) — but the food and the view are well worth the price of admission.

Booked this restaurant for dinner after reading r views and I’m so so glad I did! We went as a party of 4 for an 8:15pm reservation and it was absolutely beautiful! The sun was setting and the restaurant has glass windows all around. Gorgeous view. The food was great too from the crab avocado appetizer, crap soup, steak filet, and the crab cakes were delicious. The crab cakes were so full of crab and less breading which was awesome. Definitely recommend this restaurant!!! Very cool ambiance and delicious food. It is a nicer restaurant though so be prepared for white tablecloth :) oh and the drinks… Can’t go wrong with any of the signature cocktails!!! The berry one and the strawberry mojito are a must!!!

Why settle for boring and ordinary? That’s what our Ocean City hotel restaurant turned out to be so after a glass of wine and an appetizer and a 5 minute Unilocal search we drove the 2 miles to the Hobbit. Great decision! Great looking place, in a fantastic natural setting on the inland marsh side. We sat inside under big picture windows overlooking it all. Nice décor, lighting, etc. and a little diorama with little Hobbit figurines and backgrounds out of Middle Earth built into a hollowed-out television set. Very cute! We saw that they were having a Restaurant Week Special, and the selections looked good, so for $ 35 each we went for it. Each diner chooses 3 out of 4: appetizer, entrée, salad, dessert. So one of us got app, entrée, and salad and the other got entrée, salad, and dessert. My salad was Wild Mushroom & Tomato Salad– Marinated wild mushrooms, house dried tomatoes, mozzarella pearls, and fresh shallots. Tasty enough. I probably wouldn’t re-order it though; the ingredients didn’t quite mesh for me. And I maybe wouldn’t call it a salad in the normal sense; more like a plate of pickled mixed vegetables — not that there is anything wrong with that… My entrée was the catch of the day. Choice of swordfish, tuna, or grouper. I chose the swordfish. Sadly I procrastinated writing this review too long and I’ve forgotten many of the details of its preparation; was it glazed and accompanied with fennel slaw and with a bed of greens? I think so; perhaps. Whatever it was it was quite good, and a generous portion. Large enough that I didn’t finish it. But the other reason I didn’t finish it was that as I got to the center the fish was less cooked than I would have liked; I’d say to the point of being definitely underdone. I would have said something and probably sent it back but by that time, having eaten about ½ of it around the edges and had more than enough, I figured I’d take home the rest and reheating it the next day would finish the cooking. It did, and tasted almost as good as leftovers. In fact, we had leftovers from all the courses: salad, appetizer, and entrée. We combined the two for take-home(my mushroom-tomato salad and the wife’s green salad) for a salad mash-up. And we took home one of the three stuffed shells(that was the appetizer: stuffed with pork and beef tenderloin, ricotta, and mozzarella — excellent). With the remaining swordfish and its sides it made a nice lunch the next day. The other reason we took so much home was that we needed to save room for the dessert: the«Mary’s Delight» that grabbed our attention as soon as we had received our menus: Crushed walnut crust, thin layer of sweetened cream cheese, chocolate pudding, homemade whipped cream. Fantastic; no doggy bag needed! Efficient and friendly service, beautiful setting, relaxed elegant atmosphere, food that was quite enjoyable even given the flaws mentioned above.

One of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to. The views of the bay are spectacular, and every table affords a view. We watched a blue heron and an egret out on the marsh as we enjoyed our dinner. There is an early bird menu with dishes under $ 20. I loved that. I had one of those early bird specials — the crab-stuffed flounder — and it was perfect. Buttery and full of crabmeat. It also came with a big salad. The cream of crab soup was very tasty with lots of sherry. And the desserts were gorgeous, huge, and rich. I had the chocolate rum mousse cake and my boyfriend had the cheesecake of the day, which was piña-colada-flavored. Both were divine. The service here was impeccable as well. I can’t wait to come back to The Hobbit next year.
