I hired Square Root in very early December. I thought everything was gonna go smoothly he seemed like a stand up guy and thought things would be on the ball. But numerous times he (Brian) just plainly dropped the ball. Put in the deposit thought everything was going to go as planned be in and out and not any big issues. Was here last week 2 days put in concrete and thats it. Every day I have been told they would show up and work every day they haven’t showed up at all. I got an apology and a reassurance they would be there. Yet it still remains the same.

I forgot to mention– he’s done a great job cutting into the hard rocky slopes of San Elijo Hills to create beautiful and usable areas!

About 2 months after I posted my original review we received a call from Brian. Probably one of the more apologetic calls I have ever been a part of. He profusely apologized and took several steps to make things right for us, including a refund of our deposit.
While we wasted quite a lot of time waiting on Brian, it is obvious that he is a genuine person and legitimate businessman who made an honest mistake. Because he actually is quite good at what he does, his business grew up a little too quickly there in the beginning and we got left behind. From what I understand he has increased his staff and is more than able to handle the volume of work coming in, and I couldn’t imagine he’d ever let a thing like this happen again.

We recently bought our dream home in Carlsbad, but unfortunately our dream home had a nightmare yard — just a bunch of mulch and some grass. Brian and his partner Mike from Square Root Design came recommended to us. After interviewing a few different potential vendors, we made the wise decision to go with Brian and Square Root. Although there were cheaper options out there, they were clearly the highest quality and were very straight forward to work with. Brian and Mike did a great job of capturing our aspirations for our dream yard and turned that into a few different options that were very creatively done. And when our aspirations outdid our budget, Brian was very straight forward in working with us to get us a good plan that could meet our most important items while still remaining in our budget. The planning process did take a little longer than we were hoping for, but once things got moving, it moved very fast and beyond our expectations. Brian was very involved throughout the whole job, and is extremely knowledgeable about all things landscaping. And probably best of all, Brian did not turn into a ghost after the job was done. He has been persistent and responsive in working with us to fix any and all problems we were having. We are very happy with our new yard, and very happy with the decision we made to go with Square Root and Brian.
