I keep giving this place another chance, I’m just a glutton for punishment! There’s no problem on getting seated, your drink and order taken, it’s my order that’s always messed up, my husband says I’m too picky, I usually order an omelette(American cheese) I’ll get it and it’s either the wrong cheese or eggs are still runny. The waitress brings the ticket when serving the meal and is never seen again, they don’t come back to check and make sure meal is ok or if anything else is needed. I still leave a tip, but not as much if they would actually do something for it!

Mediocre food. Mediocre service. But friendly service. Friendly service being the only thing keeping me from rating one star. Inattentive, had to yell to find someone to seat us after standing at the front for several minutes. The so called catfish was a mystery fish, possibly reconstituted frozen catfish. Was not horrible but being from Louisiana it was a shame to call it catfish. Maybe this is good fried seafood for west Texas but back in Louisiana this place wouldn’t last a week(as a fish house). Haven’t tried anything else but they should go with a 24 hour diner label and not as a catfish diner that’s for sure. Looks like it has potential, I’m betting other items are better but haven’t been around long enough to try them. Nice atmosphere for a relaxed bite.

I ordered a patty melt which is supposed to be on rye bread with grilled onions, this patty melt was just on regular bread and no onions and just blahhh. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. In response to your comment Dee, in the encyclopedia the definition and MAIN ingredients of a patty melt are rye bread, hamburger patty, onions and cheese so if it’s called a patty melt it should consist of the main ingredients and if you don’t include those then I think it should be called something else. You can always add to but not take away the main ingredients.

This place is average, I would of given this establishment a 3 star especially being in Odessa since service is not held to high standards; however, a 2 star rating is quite fair. Cons: First, the catfish were nothing but frozen patties. I would of been okay with that if their name wasn’t Catfish & Co. This was a huge disappointment. Pros: it’s a very chill 24 – 7 diner that you can’t expect much but you get what you paid for. The waitstaff were attentive and the food came out quickly and hot.

So gross! Really, don’t waste your money. We had a bad feeling when the parking lot was empty at lunch time, and again when we saw how dirty and rundown the building was… but this IS West Texas after all. What do you expect? Unfortunately, the only good thing about this restaurant was the service. All the fried foods(pretty much your only choice) tasted exactly the same.(I had catfish — that tasted like eggs — and very rubbery prawns; my husband had chicken fried steak — that tasted like fish — and popcorn shrimp… all you can eat. Big mistake.) And«hand battered?» I sincerely doubt it. I think I detected the faint taste of cardboard… And did I mention it was really, really DIRTY? I was tempted to try the«home-made ice-cream,» but after the few bites of fish I tried, my stomach did not agree. If you find yourself in need of a 24-hour diner and can tolerate cigarette smoke, Pojo’s on Kermit Hwy has much better food.(Still not spotless, but this IS West Texas, after all.)

Pretty good… The staff was excellent and reminded me of that famous southern hospitality. I got the combo plate because I couldn’t decide what I wanted I went with the catfish(duh) and the fried shrimp. But were really good, I got the fried okra and buttered corn for the sides. Not much to say they were good. I would recommend this little place for this that would be passing through.

The one star is for the service I do not want to now where they buy their catfish patties! Fresh?-not

The food is lack luster to say the least most is just reheated fried crap. The service is worse though a bunch of little old ladies who show nothing but disgust when you walk in the door. Theres one young girl who works there and she is very unpleasant to deal with. The management allows their employees to act this way and the night manager is stealing from the company but blaming customers so that they get punnished for coming. A pickup order took me an hour and a half to get durring a dead time at night. And yes I sat there for an hour of that waiting for someone to talk to me about why it was taking so long. Also when finally approached I was told it was do to a call in order that i had made in the past and never came to get. Heres the part that made me laugh I have never called in an order before this moment in time! So how could I have called in and not shown? I refuse to give my buisness to such a poorly managed place ever again.

Good breakfast place. Generally affordable food. If you go to Catfish & Co., best to show up around 6 a.m. and sit near some old-timers, as that’s by far the best part of the place. Waitstaff is clearly overworked and underpaid but always friendly and service is good all around.

If you’re in Odessa and you’re hungry at 3am, you don’t have a lot of options. You got Jack In The Box, Whataburger, and this place. I mean, you could always go on the highway and hit up the truck stop McDonalds/Subway but that’s a bit of a drive. No, instead you naturally opt for one of the aformentioned three. Well, you shouldn’t. Granted, this isn’t a fast food joint but it’s also not a diner regardless of how it looks. You can’t make any variations or substitutions on what you order, they don’t know how to cook their food any other way, and the food’s not even really that good. I originally went to just have tea with a friend but I decided I’d get some dinner anyway. I asked about their teas and was met with a blank stare. My friend told me «just say regular, she’ll understand that» but I’m not from here. Instead, I said«do you have Earl Grey?» The look on her face was like that of the liquor store clerk in SLC Punk upon meeting Stevo She brought me some random tea bags and we ordered our food. After a reasonable wait, we got our greasy food and nasty side orders. My friend got some cottage cheese that looked more like water with white chunks in it. That’s when the giant roach felt like showing up to say hello. He apparently wanted some of the cottage cheese water. When I brought this up, the waitress just sighed. «We’re working on that.» So we split, paid too much, and never came back. At least the tea bags were nice and it was funny to see some ADHD kid losing his mind just a few tables near us.

So I am driving to El Paso with a stop in Odessa and I am hungry, this is «steak and potato» country and I don’t eat meat. What’s a girl to do? Well I found a listing for Catfish and Company on the Odessa City guide and decided to give a whirl, and boy am I glad I did! Fantastic doesn’t even come close. The fried catfish is wonderful, the clam strip was great even the sliced jalapenos were fresh and extra spicy! So, all I got to say is, if you ever find yourself in Odessa, you too should give it a whirl.
