Thirsty turtle

First off this is a proper coffee shop. Not some hybrid deli/​café. Small and quaint. No nonsense, you’re here for coffee. A very rare thing for our area unfortunately.
The atmosphere is very laid back and perfect for our demographic. The employees were helpful and friendly, a very important trait for a small shop such as this.
I subtly tested them just a bit and they understood the basics of espresso and drink making so I didn’t have to worry about my drink being made poorly. I had an iced latte (brutally hot weather that day). It tasted fresh and not burned, a very mellow espresso flavor. I didn’t ask them what beans they use but I’m pretty sure it’s from a fairly local roaster.
I’m not a coffee expert by any means. I just started working as a barista almost a year ago, and have been learning as much as I can from a variety of coffee shops and roasters. It’s a shame we don’t have many true coffee shops in the area (such as the excellent 806 in Amarillo, my standard by which other shops are rated). But Thirsty Turtle hits all the right marks and you can’t really expect more from a shop in this area. My only disappointment is in the location. You have to enter a crowded mall to get to this shop, but I’m sure that location works very well and helps them stay afloat due to all the foot traffic (keeping an independent coffee shop afloat is difficult at best). Carry on Thirsty Turtle! I’ll be back.

Thirsty Turtle was awesome! I was greeted promptly & my drink was ready in less than 3 minutes. They have a wide selection to choose from & are reasonably priced. I would recommended this place to anyone. The drink i got was VERY good!!!

Not the greatest place to get a cup of coffee whether it’s iced or hot. We tried a hot coffee added a shot, coffee was not the best quality. Iced coffee seemed to be more cream and sugar than coffee. The pastry bought was not the best. It came from Sams we found out later. The appearance of the coffee shop is absolutely ADORABLE and the workers were nice. People are saying that this place is by far better than Starbucks, sadly it wasn’t. This place could improve and I hope it does.

Very good coffee!!! Also had the coconut cream sweet tea and it has to be my absolute favorite!!!

Just gave the place a try, and for my first cup I say it’s great. It was smooth and not too sugary. Exactly what I want. I’ll be back to try new things, but I played it safe with a café mocha today.
