The ambiance is nice, the staff was attentive and friendly. Limited wine list. Appetizers were good, especially the ahi tuna tostadas. Entres were disappointing. The New York was poorly flavored and over-cooked.

I love the ambience of this dressy, dimly lit small street restaurant. The salad was ok and unique. The spinach artichoke dip was delicious. I quite enjoyed the bread they brought, very soft with good flavor. The princess penne was decent although the marinated olives were too much for me. I tried my sister’s fettuccine Alfredo and was slightly disappointed; it seemed bland but it wasn’t bad. We received our food pretty quickly but the waitress did take particularly long at the end to get us our check and we were late to our performance show/concert. Overall a good experience but the food wasn’t as delicious as I expected.

Bistro 258 is a nice neighborhood restaurant with attentive host and wait staff. The décor perfectly fits the mountain town feeling. In terms of the food, it just didn’t have the wow factor when it came down to the taste of their dishes. I am a bit puzzled about many reviewers who rated this place as a recommended choice. It was a let down. We ordered the fried calamari as appetizer and it was soaked in grease plus there were more fried onions than calamari! The Black Sesame Ahi Tuna plate was supposed to be seared but it tasted cold… My friend ordered the Blue Salad and the beef was overly cooked. The tomato basil soup was the only item which tasted pretty good. Again very nice staff and wouldn’t mind going back again if they can make some improvements to their food.

I love coming here! Food is always good, atmosphere is relaxed and you feel like you have been treated like a queen every time you leave. Never had anything here I didn’t like the taste of.

Excellent place. Rice bowls are divine & we tried a BLA burger. Wonderful cooked to perfect and an outstanding home made bun. Service was very good too and the place had tall ceilings with brick walls and wax so cool great ambience. What a terrific lunch experience. If we ever pass they again this will be a for return

Its ok — for the price I can’t justify a repeat visit — food was just OK and there are too many better options in Ogden and on the same street!

I ordered a Mushroom Burger«without onions, please», got my order and she said«here’s your mushroom burger without MUSHROOMS.» Still had onion on it. I’m not sure how that got confused… I don’t know why anyone would ask for something named«Mushroom Burger» but without the mushrooms. So that was disappointing. She was pretty busy getting my group their food and serving her other guests so I was too embarrassed to let her know my order wasn’t right. She seemed like a sweet lady, but it’s no fun to spend money on something that you didn’t necessarily want. I was also surprised at the small amount of fries I was given. Seemed like a tiny kids meal handful, barely filling.

My husband and I had lunch here a couple of months back and it was a lovely experience. The restaurant is well decorated and provided an enjoyable dining experience. The food was delicious all around. My only suggestion to the cooks would be to change the way the calamari is served. We didn’t like having to dig through the appetizers to find fish amongst all of the onions. On another note both of the sandwiches we ordered we large in size and the side of fries was enough to leave to you feeling stuffed.

So somewhat disappointed in this restaurant. Pleasing setting, but not a lot of respect for ingredients. Requested lamb medium rare and came well done. Just one slight step up from chain style restaurants, not a lot of subtlety. Did have good wine list and service was pleasant but inexperienced. Accommodated a large group, but was not wowed.

I’ve been here once and that’s enough. To say this place is bland is giving it too much credit. The service was fine, but I could’ve made my rice bowl at home and it would have tasted better. The flavor was seriously lacking and the spinach salad was, again, boring.

Got seated quickly, on a Saturday night at that, and enjoyed the lovely weather on their patio. Bread and water came fast. Server was pleasant and helpful. Husband ordered the Black & Blue pasta — the meat served on top was prepared to his liking. My husband ALWAYS finishes his food, but this dish was very rich and filling so he had leftovers.(First time in our 9 year marriage that’s happened). I got the salmon and was pleased. Great crunch on the outside, but perfectly most and fluffy on the inside, and overall had a nice flavor. Both pasta and entrée dishes come with a soup or salad. Between the bread, soup/salad, and main course, we left very full and satisfied. Would recommend this restaurant to others and look forward to going back and trying more! 4 stars for overall experience. Might be a little overpriced, but given my first experience I’d go again.

The food was awesome, we all got very different dishes and everything was wonderful! The rice bowl with tofu was way delicious, my non-tofu eating cousin even liked it! The waitress was so cute! She always kept our water full and was so sweet and shared such a positive story of how her stolen belongings were returned! Great atmosphere, super chill and cool decorations! Took grandma out for the first time in a long while and she totally loved it!

Second time visiting Ogden and dining at Bistro 258 is a must! Great food, service and ambient. The calamari and blackened seafood salad were exquisite. Great wine selection too. Will return on next visit to Ogden

I’m very torn on this review because the first time I went we had a wonderful waitress and great food. I ordered the curry over rice and it was delicious. We were served quickly by a positive young woman who was very attentive. The second time I visited was what made me never want to go back. Service was slow and inattentive, despite the fact they had only one other table filled. Our waitress seemed to be more focused on hanging out with the other people working there and chatting, rather than refilling water or bringing the check we asked for. The second time was so slow and frustrating it made me hesitate to recommend it again. It was quite disappointing.

Food: I ordered one of the Bistro’s favorites, the Coconut Macadamia Halibut with a salad as a side. The salad had a little too much dressing for my taste but the honey glazed nuts were a nice touch to it. I expected the entrée to have a little more coconut flavor to it. You get a hint of coconut — so it was light, but still good. For dessert, I got the popular Peach Fuzzy. I wasn’t crazy about the peaches themselves… mostly ate the batter but the peaches were a good combination with the mango sorbet! The pomegranate martini was also tasty, but could’ve used a little more alcohol and less juice. Service: My waitress named«C»… wasn’t all that good. She failed to tell me the special of the day, didn’t give me any bread(while her other tables got some), and served my salad without giving me any utensils. I’m not particularly anal about this stuff, but it was just very visible in comparison to the other servers and their tables. Atmosphere: Casual. Very relaxing, especially if you get a table outside to enjoy the sunshine and nice breeze! Would try it again if I’m ever in the area.

This place has a lot of potential — you can see it in the reviews. It’s going to be one of those«I got a three star meal at a five star restaurant» review. It happens. Our server was Errol, very friendly, but just stumbled through the specials after we had already looked at the menu… supposed to announce the specials while handing out the menus. But Errol was fine — the real issue was how things were prepared. My colleague ordered a Caesar salad that suspiciously looked like a house salad(with tomatoes, onions, and carrots), my steak was way over cooked — tough like jerky, the soup tasted like Progresso(canned corn, really?), and the fuzzy peach dessert was really salty to me. It wasn’t a great meal — just average. And for the pricing, you do not expect an ‘average’ meal — you expect something better than you can cook on your own. Look at my steak picture again, nice presentation — but look how charred the steak is(very tough). And we were the only customers in the restaurant — not a huge stress night for the kitchen. Hate to lower the rating on this place, but we must have caught the kitchen on an off night…

First off, I’m extremely easy to please. I’ll drink expired beers, won’t complain if I find a hair and will happily wait forever if needed. I was looking for something new to try, and what I got. This was bad. I was greeted by a very cheerful host but turned over to a cold stranger. I came in with high expectations and was led here by Unilocal.I buy local, avidly support the belief but I will never return, even for the artichoke dip. I ordered the calamari, and my gosh. Out in CA did I have amazing calamari. This was not properly battered, salted so much I could not eat it, had the notorious«fish scent» that good seafood does not have, and getting two WHOLE fried sea creatures with unbattered tentacles made even less appetizing. The burger… I got the teriyaki burger and I hate to say it but I could get a tastier one at a fast food chain. Totally flavorless, the tomato tasted like water, the beef was dry, this shredded beet thing just killed it, and it apparently had some kind of sauce that I just slightly noticed thanks to the water the tomato leeched under my bun. The fries were actually tasty, and I finished those but that does not make up for dessert. Fuzzy peaches. The reason I came in. Those have to be the most pungent, atrocious peaches I’ve ever had. I’m not sure if they taste the produce, and I know January is not the best time but at least consider serving it seasonal if the flavor won’t be present in it’s full glory. Then the server. Thank you for letting me know the«flavor shot» was extra, for charging me full price for the fuzzy peach dish; the mango sorbet that was not there, and doing little to make small talk instead of awkwardly watching me eat. Flash forward 30 minutes, it was EMPTY and I’m getting rushed out the door. She drops off my tab, and then says have a great day. When I left, no one was even in sight. The pros: The lemonade was good, as were the fries. This place has IMMENSELYGREAT potential! But paying 30 bucks for me alone and having such a mediocre lunch ehh. I see 25th street as a restaurant ladder place that offers plenty, but in my opinion, this place does no justice. Till never, Bistro.

I’ve heard of the fuzzy peaches so we came here just to try those. We ordered them as an appetizer and the whole dish was delicious. I loved the mango ice cream and the peaches were also very tasty. Add most agree this dessert dies not disappoint. I ordered the pork chop and it was a good size. About an inch thick with the bone in. Garlic mashed potatoes were awesome. My wife ordered a pasta dish which was pretty good. The chicken in it was very good. They seemed to use a lot of local ingredients so that is always nice. We spent about 50 bucks on 2 entrees and dessert. Prices are high but this is more of a date night place rather than a family joint.

It’s been a while since I have been to the Bistro and I was glad I made the visit again. The setting is great with either a quaint, tight table atmosphere or a sunroom with a little room to spread out. On a 100 degree day they still keep it quite comfortable under all of that glass which adds to a nice lunch experience. I ordered the fish tacos and a side salad. The lettuce came at different sizes and I found myself needing to use a knife to bring it to bite sized pieces. Dressing options were slim at only 3 but the lettuce was crisp, fresh, and crisp with a few cherry tomatoes and red onion for flavor and color. The fish tacos were extremely big. Good from a filling stand point but difficult to eat without a fork. The sauce and pico used was flavorful and offset the Mahi Mahi which was poached with no seasoning and kind of bland. Served with a side of rice that was fantastic. Good service and good food. A nice place for a lunch visit.
