Ruby River has declined in both service and quality the past several years. Tonight it took 15 minutes to get seated despite the sparce crowd. When we got to the table we were ignored completely for another 20 before we decided to take our business elsewhere. If this has been an isolated incident I’d shrug it off but there have been similar occurrences in the recent past. I miss how this place used to be.

45 minute wait even though restaurant wasn’t that busy. Prime rib was chewy not like it should be and the jacketed potatoes and yams are extra if you get them with the toppings that our waiter said was included. Service was real poor, never got our empty dishes cleared so our table was very crowded with only 4 of us. Definitely not worth the money.

Their steak egg rolls were so good. Everything else mediocre. Atmosphere reminded me of Montana. Steak was dry and not well seasoned.

Well… finally found my steak place in town. I ordered the 16oz prime rib of which 8oz was edible. It was very tough, and I have never had a prime rib that was hard to cut through. I have had them over cooked, too salty or cold, but never tough. My partner ordered the Halibut and his was over cooked and dry as a bone. Left fairly dissatisfied and blame it on the kitchen. The wait staff was great and the manager was trying her best, but she can’t cover for a bad cook or a bad cut of meat. 2 stars for the staff, and Zero for the kitchen.

We haven’t been to Ruby River in ages so we thought we could stop in tonight. We waited a good 10 minutes to get seated and the place was pretty much empty. It took a few minutes for our server to come by but we got our drinks pretty fast. Salads came before the appetizer we ordered and the onion blossom wasn’t as crispy as it could have been. It took a long time for our meals to come, a filet and a new york steak. The filet steak was wrapped in a pretty much raw piece of bacon but cooked good otherwise. The side of asparagus was pretty tough. Took forever to get refills on our drinks but the waiter apologized, I think he forgot and he didn’t charge us for them so that was nice.

The filet mignon was good… Although the«wrapped in bacon» was a tiny piece about 1 inch long on my plate… The asparagus was half cooked, mashed potatoes were cold and half of our party was served a good 7 minutes after the first half. The busser removed plates before asking if anyone wanted to take anything home… One steak had 3 bites taken off of it, and another was half eaten, those people weren’t in their seats at the time so no one noticed until it was too late. Prices aren’t too bad, and the waitress was nice. Very on top of drinks, but it felt a bit rushed through everything.

Had to wait 40 mins before getting a table for my husband and I but we were pleased with the service. They had a comfy waiting room to the right with a jukebox and a fireplace. I ordered a Shirley rita, the Steak Oscar(it was cooked exactly the way I wanted), and the Rasberry Crème Brulee. My husband got the Porterhouse steak and a coke. The food was delicious, the vibe was cool, and the cleanliness was on point. Will return.

we tried Ruby River last evening and we were very pleased with the meal service and ambience. Steak, Baked potato, salad, were all delightful! The waitress was very attentive and service was quick. Will definitely go there again.

My husband and I go here every year for our anniversary and birthdays. We love it! And we always have excellent service. Our favorite appetizer is the steak and avocado egg rolls you can’t go wrong with them. And we love the loaded potato soup, and also the jacket baked potato.

Skip the appetizer and go for the steak. We had the artichoke dip and it wasn’t good. Our salads were way over dressed and the service was very slow. However, the steaks were fantastic and worth the wait. It appears they need to hire more servers and get them some help clearing tables. They were friendly but had too many tables to keep up with.

HORRIBLE, everything about the visit was horrible. 1st we get there and it was 20 minute wait when it was VERY slow. There was at the most 5 other couples in the restaurant. The food we ordered was NOT good. The coconut shrimp was hard as a rock, the steak was under cooked and the order was wrong. It then took the waitress 15 minutes to check on us after we got our food. The couple beside us had undercooked steak as well. The couple behind us had issues as well with a different waitress. RubyRiver has gone DOWN hill.

So, went here tonight with an open mind. Let’s start out with the fact that my steak was amazing. And now for the bad… Drink orders were taken, buy no waters or complimentary brand was served. The IPA that I ordered was all out. So, I decided on a glass of Cab. The wine was good, but the pour was far short of the 5oz standard. The salad came out in a timely manner and was par. When my steak came out it looked beautiful… except that it was missing my side of asparagus. After 3 – 4 minutes my asparagus came out with only 3 measly stalks on the side dish. WTF… Get your sh*$ together and I will recommend your restaurant.

Took my mother here the Saturday before Mothers Day. Very disappointing! The staff was clearly engrossed in a drama and the tension was obvious. They have half of us lunch menus and then told us we couldn’t order off of the lunch menus. The waitress came to our table with a bad attitude and seemed annoyed to be serving us. Drinks took over ten minutes to get… And it was actually pretty slow. There were only like 6 tables taken. Skip this place and go to Texas Roadhouse!

I never give one star but my experience here was BAD. Friday night and I don’t mind the hour wait bc my friend and I were seated at the bar and had a few drinks. It was not until we were seated, that it went downhill from there. Entrees get two sides each and my date got the pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon and I got the smothered chicken. I ordered both of my sides to be a salad and he ordered his two sides to be asparagus and steak soup. The entrees come out and sides are missing. We had to ask FOURTIMES for our sides and our waitress said– oh they’re ready I just forgot to pick them up. Wtf? Okay. She brings the side when we are well half way through our meal and the soup and asparagus was cold and my salad was runny and the greens were wilted from having the dressing sit on it for so long. My date only took one bite of the soup and refused to eat the rest. Mind you were half an hour into our meal and she hasn’t gotten us WATER or DRINKS. I decided to ask for the THIRD time if we could have some water and my date wanted a beer. She came back to our table and apologized for the constant mess ups but then reveals TMI by telling us — I really have to go to the bathroom. Well okay we didn’t need to know that but can we HAVEOURFREAKINGDRINKS??? Finally — after a horrible meal the bill comes out. And she screwed up bad by charging us for 3 beers and charged us for ALLFOUR sides. Sides come with the entrée and we only ordered one bill. No wonder our bill looked way too big. After chasing her down, she changes the bill. or so we thought. She takes off the extra two beers but doesn’t remove the sides so we needed a new bill. Wow this experience was so horrible and I’m a patient person and I still tip 20 percent despite the horrible experience I had but I will never come back here. I hope the manager reads this and retrains their staff bc with over 10 mistakes within an hour– that’s not acceptable. I don’t need to know when my waiter wants to use the bathroom or admit that our food is done and she just forgot to pick it up.

My favorite stake house in Ogden UT. They have a delicious Rib Eye, and great sides. They also have a great assortment of other entrees, such as sea food and sandwiches to name a few, all of which as amazing as their stakes. They bring out complementary sourdough bread with every meal! Their fresh brewed root beer is great! ***They have gluten free bread on hand, as well as a certified gluten free menu!*** The entire establishment is themed as a mountain lodge. The service is amazing. They aren’t perfect(they are only human after all), they have made mistakes from time to time, but they will go out of their way to insure you are taken care of and that ever visit is spectacular! Unfortunately they recently changed their menu and they no longer have their great garlic mashed potatoes. They tasted great and were served dry with melted cheese on top. Now it’s mashed potatoes and gravy, and not as good. Over all highly recommended!

I’ve been here several times during the last few years. It had always been amazing until this last year. The food has gone downhill. The last time I went, I ordered a steak cooked medium. It came out rare. I sent it back and it came back within a couple of minutes and then it was well done. The time before I ordered the filet mignon and it was horrible. It was tough, and grisly tasting. I’m wondering if they had a change in cooks withinthe last year.

I had dinner here tonight and the food is okay. The service was good and the pricing is decent in which 7 people were fed for $ 216 which included tip.

Delicious food(especially the steak, of course) and excellent service. The homemade Root Beer is great as well. Definitely try the Jacketed Baked Potato; it makes potato skin something you actually want to eat!

I have only been to ruby river once but the one time I went it was really good. Their steak is really good but the best thing is their sweet potatoes.

After what started out roughly — the doors to inside are poorly marked and the layout is frankly odd — we made out way inside and were seated. The server then proceeded to card both of my business lunch guests, despite all of us being at least double the drinking age minimum(one was probably closer to triple). This would normally result in an immediate deduction for embarrassing me, but fortunately, they chose the spot. Still… extremely tacky choice on her part, when all of us were obviously of age and it made things very awkward. She claimed this was the restaurant policy and if so, they should immediately revisit this. It’s not like some kid is going to a relatively expensive place like this and try to tag drinks 1 pint of beer at a time and the downside can be no repeat business. Anyway, that aside, this things started off in a hole, both of which could somewhat easily have been avoided. From there, we ordered the calamari, which was quite good and crispy. Dipping sauces could have been better, though. The iced tea I had was also pretty decent, though the mug was filled to the top with ice prior to any tea going in. It was not good enough that it did not need sugar, however, they had In The Raw packets, so good there. For the lunch, we had the prime rib sandwiches. This place has a somewhat limited lunch menu, consisting mainly of sandwiches, though there are some salads and pasta dishes also. I went with the jacketed sweet potato, which is the only side worth having, in my view. All of the food was decent, though I could have used the prime rib being closer to medium and slicked a lot thinner than the slab that was placed on my somewhat burnt toast. If I was rating the food alone, it would have been a 3 star rating and ended there. One odd thing is that the lunch menu is definitely portioned down, but the desserts aren’t, so if you order one, know you’re getting a full-on regular dessert and Ruby River likes to do them huge. I had samples of what was ordered and thought they both were ok, but I typically don’t order dessert and neither is inclined to make me change my mind. Why this gets a 4 is the server(I won’t name wait staff in reviews, but her initial starts with«M.») did an excellent job redeeming herself and turned in one of the best performances after the weirdness of the whole carding thing. I wouldn’t say she was the best wait staff I’ve ever had — the best would not have done such a thing at all — but her timing was impeccable and she did an excellent job of knowing when to stay away. She left me a carafe of iced tea on the table, but I never touched it, as she always made sure to return when my glass was lowering and move it the 6 inches from where she left it on the table to my glass and filled it for me. The extra star is for her digging this place out of the hole they started in and for doing such a stellar job. Still, when lunches start hovering up with this kind of cost, it makes it difficult to choose this as any kind of spot that I would show up to with any regularity and I’m frankly not sure I would want to go through all that weirdness again, making up for it or not. Not taking anything away from her comeback, but it’s better not to start in a hole at all. Any returns here are definitely maybes…
